PONTEFRACT SEASON 2018.

Wednesday 8th August.
Welcome to this our 11th meeting of the year.

Ladies Day!
1st race 2.20pm, gates open from noon.

It's the annual Pontefract Ladies Day meeting this Wednesday so if you want an excuse to go shopping, treat the wife, or treat someone else's wife - remember it's a lot more fun if you don't get caught. With an array of hats, fascinators and stilettos, the ladies of Yorkshire truly do ‘dress to impress’ in an effort to win the coveted Best Dressed Lady Competition. And for the first time in 2018, we'll have a Best Dressed Gents competition too!

The Gents Competition will take place first as a warm up for the much coveted Best Dressed Lady Competition

BEST DRESSED GENTLEMAN COMPETITION (1pm)
The Best Dressed Gent Competition will again be judged before racing starts. Watch out for the judging team who will allocate numbers to 25 lucky finalists. They'll be on the lookout from the minutes that the gates open at midday and the 25 finalists will then gather in the Parade Ring at 1pm with the top 3 announced around 1.10pm.

WINNER: £350
RUNNER UP: £100
SECOND RUNNER UP: £50
BEST DRESSED LADY COMPETITION (1.15pm)
The Best Dressed Lady Competition will again be judged before racing starts. Watch out for the judging team who will allocate numbers to 100 lucky finalists. They'll be on the lookout from the minutes that the gates open at midday and the 100 finalists will then gather in the Parade Ring at 1.15pm with the top 3 announced around 1.40pm.

The 2018 prizes:
In 2018, our Best Dressed Lady will win a holiday for 2 to the stunning RIU resort in the Dominican Republic!  This all inclusive week long trip includes flights!
The winner will also compete to be the Best Dressed Lady in Yorkshire at the final at Doncaster Racecourse.

Oh and there's also some horse racing to enjoy too once the fashion show is completed.

A few winners last time out but couldn't find enough to stop our losses increasing a little coming into this fixture to the tune of -9.61 to Starting Prices so we can hopefully get that back starting today. We will continue throughout this season to record ALL results for these fixtures which are returned to a level stake at Starting Price (SP), and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures.

The forecast going is now currently reported as 'Good, Good to firm in places' the weather for Wednesday afternoon is for a cloudy and a humid day with a chance of showers with a forecast maximum temperature around the 22C mark as we continue to enjoy a wonderful summer though a bit of rain will be welcome around the place too.

We come into this meeting with a small loss figure of -9.61 points to SP. Results from today will be updated later on at the end of the meeting. All being well we can move back into the black tonight and kick on from there. A decent set of results today returns us a profit of +7.375 to SP. Alas not enough to clear the deficit but a large chunk taken off leaves us behind to only -2.235 going onto the next meeting.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday 19th August. Hope you will be following us throughout the season.
