2018 KEMPTON PARK RACES -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #15 8th AUGUST

July has passed and we find August is no let up either at last we had a bit of rain although the sun is back and the heat is still causing me uncomfortable sleepless nights. 😢

The World Cup over since we last posted and well done to FRANCE but now it's back to the regular season and I'm following AFC Wimbledon who kicked off their League One campaign with a 1-0 WIN against Fleetwood Town last weekend. Good start to our final season before moving to the new stadium on Plough Lane
. In the meantime this blog will continue to follow the progress of handicap races on the Wednesday night races here at Kempton Park racecourse in Surrey. We've not had the greatest first half of the year and are a bit behind now although it's a bit up and down this is half way and meeting fifteen. There are usually 4-5 handicap races covered and some Lay bets too with separate totals recorded to SP throughout the year.

We are ready for week number fifteen, and as we head into the second half of the year we managed to have a good couple of weeks and take a dent out of the losses to date although we still find ourselves down -25.8 points to SP, would be nice to continue turning this around and there is still a long way to go we need some more winners soon and alas we record to starting prices.

As we continue to focus on the handicap contests for each Wednesday evening meeting we will also occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too if one is available. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1 point level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds than this but for the purpose of these results here we simply record SP returns only.

We will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures, off to a disappointing start this season though but a successful lay last week means we are currently 10/16 going forwards with these for 2018.

This Wednesday is meeting number fifteen for the 2018 season and we are expecting an eight race card tonight with four handicaps to enjoy the action will commence at 17:40 with the mile handicap.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD

The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a warmer day so have a good night without the threat of rain for a change a top temperature will be about 24C by the time the meeting gets underway.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;

17:40 -- 1m Handicap.
A field of 14 declared for our opening contest over a mile, top weight AMERICAN PATROL [Non Runner] is of plenty of interest and Robert Winston is a plus. Oisin Murphy is another good jockey who rides his fair share of AW winner and has the ride on 3yo OSKEMEN [2nd 6/4F] and this was runner up last time, not beaten too far and given a chance to go one better tonight.

20:10 -- 1m 3f 219yds Handicap.
After a run of four novice contests we have our next handicap event, where EXCEEDING POWER [6th 33/1] can get back to winning ways here probably wasn't up to the task at Ascot last time and this looks more his level. And we will pair that with DELSHEER [Non Runner] both showing up as 14/1 and although this one had no chance with the easy winner last time is going the right way and given a go to shine tonight.

20:40 -- 1m 7f 218yds Handicap.

The stayers contest has a field of nine, JUST IN TIME [2nd 5/2] has been on my watch list this season and should go well again, AGE OF WISDOM [4th 4/1] is also selected to give him something to think about.

21:10 -- 7f Handicap (3yo).

A dozen for the finale and Richard Hannon saddle three here of which AMBROISE [8th 33/1] could be his best option off bottom weight and DIVA STAR [6th 14/1] is chanced first time out this season for Hayley Turner.

Staked -- 8 points.
Returns -- 2 points.

Results will appear here later on Wednesday night
We seek to recover from our current deficit of -25.8 points. Lost 6 points tonight, gutted I didn't do Katie Lee in the last as it's my bosses name !! Down -31.8 points till next week.

LAYS -- 10/16 so far, beginning to get them beat now, and if we have one or two Lays tonight they will be updated here also.

Tonight's Lays;

18:10 -- MAAWARD   Won 6/4F 25p R4.
18:40 -- NAWAR  Lost 3rd 7/4F.
So after one win one loss we are on 11/18 now.
