"GLORIOUS" GOODWOOD FESTIVAL 2018 [TUES 31st JULY - SAT 4th AUG] -- DAY FIVE

SATURDAY

An excellent day on Friday and now we come to the final day of the meeting with some big races to take a look at on the final day and the feature is the challenge that is the 28 runner Stewards Cup off at 3.40pm.

Some nice winners this week and we are pleased to say we show a profit overall of +7.36 for the week to date.

With Galway also on we've only been looking at the major races each day not the entire card so focused on the main Group Races or major handicaps.

Going -- Good, Good to firm in places.

Weather -- Generally sunny, bit breezy and high 28C

3:00 Qatar Gordon Stakes 1m 4f (Group 3)

Just the four declared for today's supporting race, this might be a Group 3 but the Stewards Cup is still the feature today in my opinion.

DEE EX BEE looks the likely favourite according to the early declarations and betting, has yet to win this year but highly tried in The Derby (runner up) and Irish Derby (7th) and should take this on that form. [2nd 6/4F]

Where did you get that hat ...

3:40 Qatar Stewards Cup 6f (Heritage Handicap)

A maximum field of 28 runners for this summer renewal of the Stewards Cup, where plenty of luck in running will be needed, and it makes sense to take one from each side of the draw. Top weight GIFTED MASTER [WON 20/1] will do well to give the weight away but does have a decent 5lb claimer and will find this a bit easier than his last race the Kings Stand. Won a short head and that 5lb claim by Jason Watson was the difference.

FOXTROT LADY (drawn 9) is a filly going places, and has a 6lb penalty for her third win in last four, clearly in good form with herself over this ideal trip and with only 8-10 to carry is a certain first pick. With a view to the higher number draw we go with SPRING LOADED despite the weight, has experience in these big field handicaps and Ryan Moore in the driving seat so respected.

That's all for this week at Goodwood, Results will appear here during the course of Saturday afternoon. Our profit for the week looks safe and currently stands at +7.36.
Staked 4 points on the day, returns of 21 so our profit for the week was a healthy +24.36 points to level stakes at SP.

Enjoy your weekend we've got meetings at Pontefract and Kempton to enjoy next Wednesday.
