GALWAY FESTIVAL 2018 [JULY 30th -- AUG 5th] -- DAY FIVE FRIDAY

DAY FIVE

The fifth day is another evening meeting and will begin at 5:10pm with a 2m Handicap Hurdle. The feature race tonight being the éu59k Guinness Handicap over a mile and half (well almost).

As mentioned on day one our recent years have focused on the horses from trainer Dermot Weld and we will continue to track his progress this week though we might also offer one or two other selections in particular the feature races if no Weld runner is declared.

Going -- NH Good to Yielding,  Flat Yielding to Soft

Weather Forecast -- A high of 19C with plenty of sunshine forecast but also some showers, well it is Ireland in summer.

DAY FIVE SELECTIONS;

5:10 -- 7f Maiden.
ZUENOON  [WON 13/8F].

5:45 -- 1m 98y Guinness Handicap.
HASIMIYYA  [17th 9/1] //  SCORPIAN BLACK  [Non Runner].

6:15 -- 1m 4f Fillies Maiden.
LURE OF THE SEA  [WON 8/11F].

6:50 -- 1m 4f Guinness Handicap.
Today's feature race has a rare D Weld runner in ESPOIR D'SOLEIL [Non Runner] and she'll do well to cope with the likes of LIMINI here and NESSUN DORMA  [WON 14/1] both saddled by Willie Mullins.

Day Five Figures -- Results to be updated later tonight.

D Weld p/l for week +/- currently -9.023 points

Overall week p/l to date -- +/- currently +11.727 points

Summer, Horse Racing, Galway, Irish Women, Guinness YES Life IS Good.

Day Six [Saturday] is about to be published and we hope that the weekend can make the figures look a little better. At least Goodwood has been better this year, and we've updated that meeting too already for it's finale.

Still enjoying this excellent week of racing despite the lack of results here.
