GALWAY FESTIVAL 2018 [JULY 30th -- AUG 5th] -- DAY SIX SATURDAY

DAY SIX SATURDAY

Saturday gets under-way at 2:00pm with a maiden contest over a mile and 73yds.

The feature race today is the Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle over 2m 6f and will be under way at 4:45, and 20 runners will face the starter.

As mentioned on day one our recent years have focused on the horses from trainer Dermot Weld and we will continue to track his progress this week though we might also offer one or two other selections in particular the feature races if no Weld runner is declared.

Going -- NH - Soft, Flat - Soft.

Weather Forecast -- A high of 17C with a mixed bag of sunshine and rain forecast.

DAY SIX SELECTIONS;

2:00 -- 1m 73y Maiden (2yo).

LIGHTNING AMBER  [2nd 2/1].

2:30 -- 1m 73y Maiden.
JASSAAR  [8th 9/4F].

3:05 -- 7f Nursery Handicap (2yo).

ANDALEEP  [7th 10/1].

3:35 -- 7f Handicap.
ROCK SOUND [6th 10/1].

4:45 -- 2m 6f 168y Handicap Hurdle.
The feature race for Saturday is the Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle (Catchy title eh). There's no Dermot Weld entry for this event so we'll have a try with something else from the 20 runners (plus 3 reserves).

Willie Mullins saddles no less than EIGHT of these runners and BARGY LADY [] could be his best although I like the looks of LAREENA [4th 16/1] too who has just squeezed into the contest off bottom weight.

PLINTH [13th 33/1] is another I would aim to back in the win/place market and is available at 25/1+ for Joseph O'Brien.

Staked - D Weld -4 points today no winners

+ -3 points additional selections in the big race.
Returns - Nil points.

Results will be updated Saturday evening.

D Weld p/l for week   +/- currently -13.023 after today.

Overall week p/l to date   +/- currently
+4.727 after today.

Summer, Horse Racing, Galway, Irish Women, Guinness YES Life IS Good.

Results will be updated on Saturday early evening and we'll have one final day racing on Sunday which will also be published during the afternoon. Has clearly been the worst Galway meeting for the trainer since I've been following him, will not be surprised if he calls it a day very soon.
