FA CUP 1ST ROUND REPLAY -- WIMBLEDON vs BURY TUESDAY 15th NOVEMBER 2016

Having drawn non league opposition in the 2nd round we still have to finish off BURY tonight back at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday night. Get past them tonight and a 3rd round tie against potential top draw opposition must be on everyone's mind. BUT that would be foolish, especially the way Bury went into a 2-0 lead in the first game so we must focus, support the boys and get through. Would be good to have a decent cup run this season although the main priorities are consolidation in the league and of course the huge news that we are soon to be going HOME to Plough Lane, great times to be a Womble.

LAST TIME

Bury 2 (Hope 27, 29)
v
AFC Wimbledon 2 (Taylor 61, Elliott 67)

The boys were on a decent run of form in the league prior to last weekends goal less draw with Oldham and we should be confident of making it through into Round Two against a Bury side that is expected to be missing several regular players again. The winners of this tie will play National League North side Curzon Ashton in round two.

And of course having played them 3 times in the last week or so who do we have at home on Saturday....Bury !

Updates will be published with team news and more as and when it comes through.

First Half Comment;

The match takes on a similar feel to the opening tie, only this time it's the Dons that strike early in the opening half to take a 2 goal lead, first goal on 27 mins
AFC Wimbledon 1, Bury 0. Paul Robinson scores for AFC Wimbledon sticking his boot onto a free kick giving the keeper no chance. And then on 32 mins AFC Wimbledon 2, Bury 0. Dean Parrett buries the second for the Dons into the bottom left corner.

And before half time the killer blow from Dominic Poleon making it 3-0 and that should be that really. Half time come on you Dons, live TV Game to come against Curzon Ashton.

F/T Score – 5 - 0

Match Summary;

With the game over as a contest by half time there wasn't much to report in the second half, the referee continued to keep himself busy with a flurry of cards though. And just to rub it in, Dominic Poleon scores his second of the match to make it 4-0 with another 20 mins to play.

Lyle Taylor wrapped up the scoring with 10 mins left.

My Man of the Match – Dominic Poleon.

Referee -- John Brooks only 26 from Melton Mowbray. Is one the premier league select list as an assistant referee and gets his chance in the middle for our FA Cup replay tonight. Hope he's decent.

Attendance – 2,316.
