GALWAY FESTIVAL 2015 [JULY 27th -- AUG 2nd] -- DAY SEVEN

DAY SEVEN

Sunday is our final day of action here at Galway and the meeting will begin at 2:15pm with a 2m Handicap Hurdle.

The feature race today is the Ahonoora Handicap over 7f and will be under way at 3:20, where 15 runners face the starter for this sixty thousand euro contest.

As mentioned on day one our recent years have focused on the horses from trainer Dermot Weld all week but it's not been the best of meetings this time. Still it's only once a year and plenty of fun to be had all the same. He's only got 3 runners for Sunday so we'll have a look at some of the other races today as well.

Going -- NH - Good, Flat - Good to Yielding
Weather Forecast -- A high of 16C with a good chance of rain during the day sadly.

DAY SEVEN SELECTIONS;

2:15 -- DEFINING YEAR. [5th 9/2]

3:20 -- Feature race of the day Dermot Weld runs ALKASSER here who is priced around 10/1 which would be helpful if he can win. [13th 12/1]

The big danger today is BARAWEEZ who not only won this event last year but only just failed to win a decent prize on Tuesday and comes here clearly the one to beat on that run.
[WON 7/4F]

3:55 -- A Chase contest over 2m 6f, one that sees Colour Squadron reappear having been brought down in the Galway Chase earlier in the week, he's a good class animal but hasn't won a Chase yet and probably going to be placed at best. [3rd 4/1]

The big fancy is the in form REBEL FITZ who can take this event to add to his already impressive win collection. [2nd 9/10F]

5:30 -- ALMELA [WON 1/3F]

Well at least we ended with a winner lol

D Weld p/l for week +/- Finished [-21.267pts]
Overall week p/l to date +/- Finished [-23.517pts]

Summer, Horse Racing, Galway, Irish Women, Guinness = Life IS Good.
And sadly that's all from Galway for this years festival, plenty of exciting racing still to go this year but I hope you enjoyed yourselves. I did despite the results ... and I'll be back.
