SATURDAY
Friday was a reasonable day for us which opened well with a nice 6/1 winner in MALABAR but we couldn't improve on that, even so we are slightly in profit for the week so far only +0.275pts but it's it better to break even on the week than make a loss. We've some big races to take a look at on the final day and the feature is the Group 1 Nassau stakes which is due off at 3:10pm.
Going -- Good to firm, Good in places.
Weather -- Generally sunny, bit breezy and high 21C
2:35 Educate a Child Handicap 1m 4f (Class 2)
Looks a good opportunity for DARTMOUTH to claim another success, having bolted home at Ascot last time in a similar contest. [WON 2/1F]
Will also be looking to get a win/place wager on BLACK KEY may only have won a maiden event hence the 20/1 price tag but connections wouldn't come here if they didn't think they had a chance and could be on the up. Non Runner
Where did you get that hat ...
3:10 Nassau Stakes (Fillies Group 1) 1m 1f
The final Group 1 of the meeting and it's time for the ladies, a race that DIAMONDANDRUBIES should be a warm fav for the all conquering O'Brien team.
She won't things all her own way though and the big dangers come from the John Gosden yard as he runs three in an attempt to win this contest yet again. (has won the last three renewals of this).
He saddles Bright Approach, Jazzi Top and STAR OF SEVILLE who will be our pick of the trio to take this.
[7th 6/1]
3:45 Stewards Cup 6f (Heritage Handicap)
Top weight TROPICS might find this hard with 9st 13lb but is a top class performer when everything falls into place.
[5th 7/1]
POYLE VINNY has won in this sort of grade and while there no guarantee that a 6lb rise will stop him winning again it's more likely luck in runner with a 28 runner field that will.
[18th 14/1]
Even so we'll take that pair against the field in a wonderfully competitive renewal.
That's all for this week at Goodwood, one winner and 3 losers today for us and down a point today which means we've lost the sum of -0.725pts for the week. Oh well could have been a lot worse I guess.
Enjoy your weekend we've got meetings at Pontefract and Kempton to enjoy on Wednesday.
