KEMPTON PARK RACING 2020 MEETING #24 WEDNESDAY 25th NOVEMBER

 Kempton Park Evening Fixture 2020

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse here for another evening meeting as we return to regular action on the all weather flat track under the lights but behind closed doors for the time being. We will keep blogging throughout 2020 till the end of the year. British horse racing has safely returned behind closed doors as part of a phased return for the sport. In doing so we will be introducing strict protocols designed to safeguard everyone's health and well being and to ensure that racing can take place safely behind closed doors. These measures have been developed in consultation with government and public health officials to help keep those attending safe and include:
  • A three stage health check that all attendees on courses will have to pass;
  • Strict social distancing measures on course
  • Detailed new guidance for all participants on how they will have to do things differently on course in order that we can race safely and mitigate any risks.
In addition the courses are reducing the use of any medical or NHS services to a minimum, acting responsibly by using private ambulances, hospitals and medics – to protect the NHS. For those working at an event, including officials, racecourse staff and participants, the implementation of these guidelines ensures that racing will take place in a more controlled environment than most day-to-day activities.

Back to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) our last meeting here a week ago, where sadly we dropped a few more points, we are now into another lockdown during November and after meeting #23 another loss sadly with some unfortunate near misses we found ourselves in a loss for the year to a figure of -64.64 points, results are always recorded to SP we will aim to get us back into the winners enclosure again soon and see further improvement in the results.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 40/54 (74%). We reset the counters for 2020 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently a decent start with plenty of short priced favourites getting beat, more short priced favs beat so we now have stats of 28/42 (66.67%) after the latest meeting.

This week we look forward to another Wednesday evening meeting during this interrupted period, this will be meeting #24 for the 2020 midweek season. Tonight we shall be expecting an eight race card with five handicaps to enjoy. The action will now commence at 16:00 with a six furlong novice stakes event and we should end the card around about 19:40 with our final handicap contest over just under eleven furlongs [1m 2f 219yds].

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of chilly weather and fair amount of showers around the temperature to reach around 12C by the time the meeting gets underway a sure sign that Winter is coming now and we continue with the latest lockdown.
Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
17:30  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Nursery (2yo)
7f  [Class 4  7 runners]
We begin our races with the first Nursery Handicap on the card, a relatively small field might play into the hands of two of the more experienced horses here. TOUSSARK [2nd 13/2] won his debut event on the all weather up at Newcastle for Mark Johnston, has been running on turf since and maybe the trainer can have him spot on for tonight, while FAYATHAAN [3rd 11/2] won at the fifth time of asking also at Newcastle though was being placed before that run and another at a decent price who might find the step up in trip to his liking.

18:05  Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Nursery (2yo)
1m  [Class 5  14 runners]
Three runs for Mark Johnston's USS NIMITZ [12th 10/1] all reasonable runs and might have a future in handicaps in time, trainer doesn't hold his back and with a bit more improvement should get this mile trip. DON'T LOOK BACK [6th 13/2] has had two runs the latest over a mile when 4th at Lingfield, needs to be settled better but it's early days and we'll take a chance on him.

18:35  Unibet Casino Deposit 10 Get 40 Bonus Handicap (Div One)
1m  [Class 5  14 runners]
Clive Cox trained three year old PRIZE FIGHTING [Non Runner] has been improving with each of his three runs on the all weather and should go close again tonight. While CAPRIOLETTE [8th 15/2] a five year old mare trained by Ed Walker was runner up here a month ago and fairly lightly raced this calendar year still on a fair handicap mark.

19:10  Unibet Casino Deposit 10 Get 40 Bonus Handicap (Div Two)
1m  [Class 5  14 runners]
Division two of this handicap and it's TRUE BELIEF [10th 8/1] we look to first of all, has plenty of all weather form especially around here which should help, was recently a winner at Yarmouth in between two runner up efforts, a big player surely. Also of interest here tonight will be RISAALAAT [Non Runner] who took advantage of a declining handicap mark to win here last time out at a decent price, if the penny drops again could repeat.

19:40  Unibet New Instant Roulette Handicap
1m 2f 219y  [Class 4  9 runners]
BIG COUNTRY [4th 9/2] our first selection in this finale, one of our favourite bands and also a good 7yo still in form having peaked at a mark of 109 is now down to 85 and should therefore be competitive in this level. CULTURE [2nd 3/1] was a dual winner here in October then went over to France and was a short distant third place there. Continues to be of interest.

Staked -- 10 points.       Returns -- 2 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. This season we started afresh and will try hard to stop going well behind but all results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A disappointing 2020 so far now sees us behind after meeting #23 to the tune of
-64.64 overall and we need some more winners to see this reduced soon. -72.64 overall now sadly.

Lays -- 28/42. We had a good season last year with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps, managed to get all three beaten last time.

Tonight's Lays;
16:00 - Popmaster  [6f 2yo Novice Stakes]. Won 4/11f
16:30 - Fauvette  [6f Novice Stakes]. Won 4/5f
Two more odds on favs winning tonight sadly, but that's the risk you take laying short odds I guess. Try again next week.
