KEMPTON PARK RACING 2020 MEETING #21 WEDNESDAY 4th NOVEMBER

Kempton Park Evening Fixture 2020

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse here for another evening meeting as we return to regular action on the all weather flat track under the lights but behind closed doors for the time being. We will keep blogging throughout 2020 till the end of the year. British horse racing has safely returned behind closed doors as part of a phased return for the sport. In doing so we will be introducing strict protocols designed to safeguard everyone's health and well being and to ensure that racing can take place safely behind closed doors. These measures have been developed in consultation with government and public health officials to help keep those attending safe and include:
  • A three stage health check that all attendees on courses will have to pass;
  • Strict social distancing measures on course
  • Detailed new guidance for all participants on how they will have to do things differently on course in order that we can race safely and mitigate any risks.
In addition the courses are reducing the use of any medical or NHS services to a minimum, acting responsibly by using private ambulances, hospitals and medics – to protect the NHS. For those working at an event, including officials, racecourse staff and participants, the implementation of these guidelines ensures that racing will take place in a more controlled environment than most day-to-day activities.

Back to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) our last meeting here a week ago, where sadly we dropped a few more points, we are now in November and after meeting #20 and some unfortunate near misses we found ourselves in a loss for the year to a figure of -55.185 points, results are always recorded to SP we will aim to get us back into the winners enclosure again soon and see further improvement in the results.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 40/54 (74%). We reset the counters for 2020 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently a decent start with plenty of short priced favourites getting beat, another short priced fav beat last time we now have stats of 25/37 (67.65%) after the latest meeting.

This week we look forward to another Wednesday evening meeting during this interrupted period, this will be meeting #21 for the 2020 midweek season. Tonight we shall be expecting an eight race card with five handicaps to enjoy. The action will now commence at 16:20 with a fillies novice stakes contest over a mile and we should end the card around about 19:50 with our final handicap contest over seven furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of chilly weather but mostly a sunny day expected the temperature to reach around 12C by the time the meeting gets underway a sure sign that Autumn is upon us now and we enter another lockdown.
Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
17:50  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Nursery (2yo)
7f  [Class 4  6 runners]
Runner up in a novice event at Chelmsford on his second career start means the Godolphin runner FABRIZIO [2nd 9/4] should be very capable of landing a nursery especially in a small field like this. HOST [3rd 10/3] has a few more miles under his belt compared to others and has been runner up three times, another who should give a good account of themselves in this company and we take this pair against the field to begin.

18:20  Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap
6f  [Class 4  12 runners]
Having failed recently on unsuitably soft/heavy going lately VICTORY ANGEL [7th 25/1] return to a more suitable surface although their first try on the all weather. Has been rated as high as 99 so this handicap represents a significant drop in quality if the going is suitable. WILEY POST [10th 40/1] won here off just 3lb lower at the start of the year and has been fairly lightly raced this season, could also go well with a recent effort here likely to have freshened him up.

18:50  Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap
6f  [Class 2  9 runners]
Winner here three weeks ago DESERT DOCTOR [4th 9/2] was running on well then and has a strong chance to follow up again here, continues to run consistently, while BENNY AND THE JETS [2nd 12/1] returns to 6f and gets weight here looks a good price for a place at the least with Silvestre de Sousa a good booking.

19:20  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
1m 3f 219y  [Class 3  6 runners]
Placed the last two runs Mark Johnston sends GLENTIES [6th 7/2] down the Surrey for this, and as a small field handicap could use his significant experience to good use. Also receiving weight from the field is MY SEVEN [WON 5/2] who is a lightly raced filly out of Golden Horn so the trip will suit and has won twice including around here too and while she might not have acted on the soft going at Nottingham last time returns here with a big chance off this weight.

19:50  Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap
7f  [Class 6  14 runners]
EXCELINTHEJUNGLE [11th 9/1] was runner up here three weeks ago and is given a second chance to put that defeat right having been there until close home at a big price. Showed that the trip and grade were exactly what he was waiting for and will be surprised if not in the first three tonight. KYLLACHY DRAGON [7th 5/1] also filled the runners up berth last time (Wolves) was staying on then and only a pound higher tonight, was also placed here earlier in the year and with a well timed run should be close once again.

Staked -- 10 points.       Returns -- 3.5 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. This season we started afresh and will try hard to stop going well behind but all results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A disappointing 2020 so far now sees us behind after meeting #21 to the tune of
-55.185 overall and we need some more winners to see this reduced soon. At least we did stop the losing run in the last couple of weeks. Sadly just the one winner tonight, a few place selections so a loss again of -6.5 tonight. That means we increase the deficit to -61.685.

Lays -- 25/37. We had a good season last year with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps.

Got all three beaten, which was nice, so figures are now 28/40.

Tonight's Lays;
16:20 - Camassia [1m Fillies Auction]  Lost 9th 7/2
17:20 - Romantic Song [7f Fillies Novice]  Lost 3rd 4/7f
19:20 - Crown Power [1m 3f+ Handicap]  Lost 5th 11/8f

Our next evening meeting here will be next week Wednesday 11th November hope you can join us again soon but most importantly remain safe and well.
