Thursday results were poor sadly for us but well done to all connected with DEIRDRE winning the Nassau Stakes for Japan an outstanding result. It's a shame that this meeting goes ahead at the same time as the Galway festival but we enjoy them both at this stage of the summer.
Going -- Good, Good to firm in places.
Weather -- Generally sunny, some clouds and average temps for the time of year with a max high 23C
1:50 Theo Fennell Oak Tree Stakes 7f (Group 3)
Nice field of 19 Fillies and Mares declared for this first Group 3 of the afternoon and while Frankie continues in such outstanding form you would want to keep his mount ROYAL INTERVENTION [5th 10/1] on side and this 3yo filly won a similar looking big field Group 3 at York.
That Frankie has elected not to ride for John Gosden means we overlook Angels Hideaway and instead will have a place bet on PERFECTION [2nd 14/1] for who DeSousa is booked to ride was 7th in the Wokingham at the Royal meeting and clearly handles a big field recent place effort in Ireland suggests she's not far away.
Selection - ROYAL INTERVENTION 5th 10/1 / PERFECTION (place) [2nd 14/1 got 11/4 place]
2:25 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes 1m (Group 3)
The next event has a field of 11 three year olds for our second Group 3 of the afternoon, headed by Godolphin's ART DU VAL and together with BIOMETRIC will be our pair against the field. ART DU VAL won his last two in Dubai and France so could be improving this year while BIOMETRIC has three wins in four starts and last time out won the 28 runner Britannia stakes at Royal Ascot and has competed on all types of ground in his short career so this should be well within him too.
Selections -- ART DU VAL 7th 7/2 // BIOMETRIC 8th 5/1.
Another mile event now but has 22 runners so will not be straightforward. So will pick a pair against the field and probably going to have one from each side of the draw as we don't know how they will cope with this size of field.
Drawn in the middle though is the Queen's SENIORITY [4th 10/1] and with Ryan Moore booked will see if he can weave his way through the pack and give Her Majesty a winner here. This is a race that Seniority won last year so maybe they've prepped for a repeat bid.
GOSSIPING [7th 25/1] has run up a hat trick recently and might be of interest again while in a good mood. And at a big price LUSH LIFE (Jamie Osborne) could be coming fast and late so a place bet is suggest while expected SP is 25/1+.
Selections -- SENIORITY GOSSIPING (win) / LUSH LIFE (win/place) Last 50/1 :(

3:35 King George Qatar Stakes 5f (Group 2)
Our next race for today is not as difficult as the big mile handicap above, 11 declared and over 5f plenty of luck is needed, though the one to beat is BATTASH Won 1/4f despite his reverse in the Kings Stand by Blue Point and can gain some consolation here. Won this last year and looks like he's going to be a very short price again. The place bet will be RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE primarily due to Frankie being on board but it's wide open for the 2nd and 3rd places.
Selection -- RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE (Place bet). [4th ! Arrgghhh]
4:40 L'Ormarins Queens Plate Glorious Stakes 1m 3f 218y (Group 3)
A small select field of five for this Group 3 worth £56k to the winner, appears to be at the mercy of MIRAGE DANCER for the Sir Michael Stoute yard and as long as this is run at a reasonable pace that should be easy enough. So no bet in this we will just watch and enjoy this one.
Bet -- 8 points
Returns - 3.75 points
-9.95 loss for the week so far now.
Saturday will therefore be updated soon and the conclusion of this years meeting will feature a great card including the Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes and also the Stewards Cup heritage handicap.
