"GLORIOUS" GOODWOOD FESTIVAL 2017 [TUES 1st AUG - SAT 5th AUG] -- DAY FIVE

SATURDAY

An excellent day on Friday and now we come to the final day of the meeting with some big races to take a look at on the final day and the feature is the challenge that is the 28 runner Stewards Cup off at 3.35pm.

With Galway also on we've only been looking at the major races each day not the entire card so focused on the main Group Races or major handicaps.

Going -- Good to soft, Good in places.

Weather -- Generally sunny, bit breezy and high 21C

3:00 Qatar Gordon Stakes 1m 4f (Group 3) 

Just the five declared for today's supporting race, this might be a Group 3 but the Stewards Cup is still the feature today in my opinion. 

While Crystal Ocean [Won 6/4F] appears to be the short price market leader we will oppose and support ACROSS DUBAI [5th 9/1] instead in this small field the son of Cape Cross might be able to pounce and spring a surprise.

3:35 Qatar Stewards Cup 6f (Heritage Handicap)

A maximum field of 28 runners for this summer renewal of the Stewards Cup, where plenty of luck in running will be needed, and it makes sense to take one from each side of the draw. 

So I am going with the veteran HOOF IT [6th 20/1] who despite advancing years has still produced decent performances and could easily take this if the breaks come, at 20/1 or better a good win/place option from draw 4. Taking that one along with GO FAR [20th 66/1] from the other side of the stalls in draw 21 against the field and both should be fairly generously priced. 

Would also give a mention to another on my 10 to follow list which is BRIAN THE SNAIL [21st 16/1] although only a 3yo might be worth a shout at big price.
