GALWAY FESTIVAL 2017 [JULY 31st -- AUG 6th] -- DAY FOUR THURSDAY

DAY FOUR THURSDAY

Another sad day on Wednesday with all selections beaten although a couple of places, but it's not good this week and he's only got the 2 runners today too.

But we must move on to our fourth day which will begin in the afternoon at 1:40pm with a 2m 6f Beginners Chase. The feature race today, and indeed for the week, is the Grade A Galway Hurdle over a two mile, and is worth over 177,000 euro's to the winner.

As mentioned on day one our recent years have focused on the horses from trainer Dermot Weld and we will continue to track his progress this week though we might also offer one or two other selections in particular the feature races if no Weld runner is declared.

Going -- NH -- Good, Flat -- Yielding.

Weather Forecast -- A high of 17C with the overall outlook of rain forecast so take a brolly or stay in the bar. Have a good afternoon.

DAY FOUR SELECTIONS;

2:50 -- 1m 98y Guinness Handicap -- ACE OF DIAMONDS [4th 14/1].

3:25 -- 7f Fillies Stakes (Listed) -- RAYMONDA [5th 4/1].

4:35 -- Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap (Grade A)
No Dermot Weld trained runners so looking at the race and picking a couple against the field.

Our first selection is PLINTH [8th 20/1] trained by Joseph O'Brien and carries the colours of JP McManus has won 2 from his last 3 and clearly in good heart, having beaten a few of these last time out too and 20/1 makes it a good EW option. (I picked the wrong O'Brien horse d'oh)

And our second selection against the field just happens to be an ex-Dermot Weld inmate TIMIYAN [14th 8/1], seems to be improving, winner of last two starts and has a relatively low weight for new trainer Gordon Elliott.

Day Four Results -- Will be updated here at during Thursday evening. .

D Weld p/l for week +/- [-15.00pts down]
Overall week p/l to date -- +/- [-17.00pts down]

Summer, Horse Racing, Galway, Irish Women, Guinness = Life IS Good.

Information and selections for Day Five (Friday) will be published soon, and we'll hope for better luck before we finish on Sunday.

Enjoy your week. Soon be the weekend...
