GALWAY FESTIVAL 2017 [JULY 31st -- AUG 6th] -- DAY SIX SATURDAY

DAY SIX SATURDAY

Saturday gets under-way at 2:30pm with a maiden hurdle over 2m.

The feature race today is the Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle over 2m 6f and will be under way at 3:05, and 20 runners face the starter.

As mentioned on day one our recent years have focused on the horses from trainer Dermot Weld and we will continue to track his progress this week though we might also offer one or two other selections in particular the feature races if no Weld runner is declared.

Going -- NH - Soft, Flat - Soft to heavy in places

Weather Forecast -- A high of 17C with a mixed bag of sunshine and rain forecast.

DAY SIX SELECTIONS;

2:30 -- 2m 150y Maiden Hurdle -- AYDOUN. Finished 3rd earlier in the week and interesting that they turn it out again so soon. [WON 13/2] Well done,at least we had a winner this week now.

3:05 -- The feature race for Saturday is the Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle (Catchy title eh). There's no Dermot Weld entry for this event so we'll have a try with something else from the 20 runners (plus 3 reserves).

Gordon Elliott saddles WESTLAND ROW who has been in good order of late and worth a go in this company. Back that one along with AUSSIE REIGNS for Willie Mullins against the field.

3:40 -- 1m 73y Maiden -- CRECERELLE [2nd 6/1].

5:25 -- 1m 3f 180y Handicap -- DALTON HIGHWAY [9th 6/1].

Staked - D Weld - 3 points + 2 points additional selections.
Returns - 7.5 points.

Results will be updated Saturday evening. First winner of the week in the bag at least 7.5 points today.

D Weld p/l for week +/- currently [-13.50pts]

Overall week p/l to date -- +/- currently [-17.50pts]

Summer, Horse Racing, Galway, Irish Women, Guinness = Life IS Good.

Results will be updated on Saturday early evening and we'll have one final day racing on Sunday which will also be published during the afternoon. Has clearly been the worst Galway meeting for the trainer since I've been following him, will not be surprised if he calls it a day very soon.
