KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #7 WEDNESDAY 3rd MARCH

Kempton Park Evening Fixture 2021Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse here for another season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will be blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Dropped a few points here last time out, but we are still ahead after a good start during January and February. This weekend we have had plenty of other sporting action to enjoy; AFC Wimbledon are hosting Hull City in League One but were brushed aside 0-3, while England faced Wales and a terrible referee in Cardiff for the six nations rugby and of course there's plenty of horse racing action over the weekend too as we are only a couple of weeks away from the Cheltenham Festival.

Back to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day King George fixture in December. After our first couple of months of meetings we have a +37.99 profit and will continue to keep a record to SP throughout 2021.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 8/11 (72.7%) after the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress during the year ahead.

This week we look forward to the seventh Wednesday evening meeting of the year and sadly it's still being held behind closed doors as we are in the latest national lockdown. Tonight we shall be expecting an eight race card with four handicaps to review, will also include the feature contest 'Road To The Kentucky Derby' Conditions Stakes' off at 18:50. Our action will now commence at 16:45 with our first handicap contest over just under 10f and we should end the card around about 20:20 with our final handicap event over just under a mile and four furlongs. As we mentioned earlier we have a feature race to include too, the class two conditions stakes over a mile adds to our usual handicap review.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of chilly weather and it's probably just as well there is no attendance tonight as there's likely to be plenty of rain plus the temperature will only reach a high of 13C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
16:45  Groundsweek Handicap
1m 1f 219y  [Class 2  7 runners]
Our opening handicap tonight can fall to LUCKY'S DREAM [2nd 9/4f] who won three of his last four starts two on the flat and one all weather NH bumper race. Clearly in good form and the one to beat tonight even though this is a step up in grade again. Back from a break MASTER THE STARS [3rd 10/3] is a lightly raced 4yo, gets weight from the field and Cieren Fallon a good jockey booking was staying on late when last seen and may well improve now four with the trip no concern.

18:50  'Road To The Kentucky Derby' Conditions Stakes
1m  [Class 2  7 runners]
We have a feature race tonight to add to our handicap events, the imaginatively titled 'road to the Kentucky Derby' over a mile and will be interesting to see who lines up here. The seven runners come from some of the bigger yards and owners ALTO VOLANTE [5th 22/1] (William Haggas) owned by Mr A Oppenheimer could be of interest over this trip and looking at bigger targets in the summer. While the Godolphin blue silks are on HIGHLAND AVENUE [WON 4/9f] (Charlie Appleby) who having taken his maiden event at this track is quickly stepped up in class.

19:20  Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap
7f  [Class 4  8 runners]
Twice a winner here over seven furlongs during January LOVE DESTINY [4th 9/2] can hopefully break better than at Wolves and record a third win of the year for trainer Mark Johnston. JACKSTAR [6th 18/1] is a bit frustrating but in an open looking handicap will afford them another chance at a decent price too, doesn't race here very often, hopefully the change of track might inspire a revival.

19:50  Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap
6f  [Class 6  12 runners]
A winner of his last two runs SIR RODNEYREDBLOOD [5th 7/4f] can add Kempton to the list of all weather success under 3lb claimer Marco Ghiani. Once rated in the 100+ bracket ACES [6th 10/1] has now tumbled down to a mark of only 64 and this 9yo appears to still retain some of his old sparkle when winning here last time out.

20:20  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
1m 3f 219y  [Class 6  14 runners]
A winner here almost exactly one year ago CRIMSON KING [3rd 13/2] drops back into a class six event and that might give him a chance to score once more off this mark. Mixes hurdles with middle distance flat races consistent but not spectacular, will give you a run for your money at a decent price. CHINESE WHISPERER [4th 5/2f] couldn't get in front last season but not trying a longer trip this could be the time to catch him right under a Hollie Doyle ride in our finale.

Staked -- 10 points.       Returns -- 1.44 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting
A winning start to 2021 was most welcome, the first couple of months have proved to be successful and our overall profit stands at +37.99 pts after meeting #6. We will update tonight's meeting #7 during the course of this evening. A very disappointing evening with a loss tonight of -8.56 leaving a +29.43 to carry over to next time.

Lays -- 8/11 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps.

Tonight's Lays;
None for this week, maybe next time.

Our next midweek floodlit meeting here will be held on Wednesday 10th March so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful 2021.
