KEMPTON PARK RACES 2016 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #19 22nd JUNE

Our last meeting was a break even night so we are still showing a big loss of -58.09 points overall which is not great I agree, it was at least good to stop the regular loss, now we reach our 19th meeting on a Wednesday night here plenty of time to improve things.

Though not as good as recent seasons have begun we do still have plenty of time to recover things. At least the places paid a little bit and the LAY bets are also still losing (or winning, depending on your view) so I'm optimistic that things will turn in our favour soon.

As always our focus will be on the handicap contests for each meeting but will occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1pt level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds but for the purpose of the results we record to SP.

We will keep up with our occasional lay opportunity of short priced favourites and as a result of yet another successful lay last time out we have a success rate of 9 from 9. Results for this will be kept separately too and hopefully we can remain at 100% for a long while yet.

This week there's a 7 race card on offer, 5 of which are handicaps and these will include another round in both the London Middle Distance Series and the London Mile Qualifiers, the meeting will commence at 18:20 with the a mile event for apprentice jockeys.

Here is a link to the evenings race card;

The going on the polytrack surface as usual is described as Standard and the current weather forecast is for a patchy day with sunshine but plenty of cloud. The temperature is likely to remain at about 24C when the meetings begins and will cool during the evening.

Here are our selections for this weeks handicaps, lacking time so just putting up selections this week;

18:20 -- 1m Apprentice Handicap.
A big field of 14 for the opening event, a race for Apprentices and we'll be looking at the riders experience as much as the horses.

ALKETIOS (Megan Nicholls) is our selection here, and has regularly been ridden by an apprentice, has also won here last year and enough form on the surface to say they will be ok. Megan is a decent jockey attached to the D Nicholls team. [11th 12/1]

18:50 -- 1m London Mile Series Handicap.

Eight declared for another in this series, ICE ROYAL (LAY) keeps finding one too good and Jamie Spencer will have to work to get this one up on the line over a mile so we are going to make this one our 10th Lay of the season. [LOST 7th 11/4 - 10 out of 10 still]

Our selection for the win is BASTILLE DAY [WON 5/2F] a recent winner here over the trip and is only a couple of pounds higher.

19:50 -- 1m 3f London Middle Distance Series Handicap.
With 12 declared for this qualifier and the top one is the first place to look DEMONSTRATION [3rd 11/2] has been in excellent form of late winning 3 of his last 6.

Has been in better class competition than this and ought to be close, and while TANGRAMM [Non Runner] found his winning run ending last time was in decent form before and maybe can give us a better run today.

20:50 -- 6f Fillies Handicap.
A field of nine fillies now, where the bottom weight GUAPO BOY is the paper favourite, and he jockey Tina Smith has been on board for the last seven runs so no real problems with the lack of experience.

Will swerve the favourite though and go with LANGHAM [3rd 7/2].

21:20 -- 2m Handicap.
The finale for this evening is a stayers contest over the two mile trip, where a field of fourteen have been declared.

The pair at the top of the weights are 11 (King Olav) and 10 (Jezza) years old respectively, we can exclude these I feel something a bit younger can take advantage.

MADAME LAFITE [4th 6/1] has had a few runs over this trip and has not been disgraced, was a few lengths off Jezza recently and is given another chance to shine.

Further down the weights we chance PRINCE OF ISLAY [3rd 6/1] as well as he's had a couple of place efforts at Chepstow since being upped to this trip too. Has the ability to score in this grade.

Staked -- 7 points
Returns -- +4.5 points

Down another 2.5 points just a winner and few places.

Loss c/f to the next meeting --
-60.59 Points

Lays -- 10/10 (Still 100%, Today's Lay -- Ice Royal in the 6:50 was beaten into 7th place at 11/4).

Results will appear here during the course of Wednesday night.
