KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 28th OCTOBER 2015

Good evening all ... the clocks have gone back last weekend and the dark nights will become more obvious now, it's getting more like Winter, can someone tell me when Summer was cos I missed it?

Moving towards the end of the years still ahead with a profit figure of +3.72. Though the flat season will end in a month the AW will kick on to the end of the year here at Kempton Park, and we seek to keep ourselves in front for the year and then start again in January.

If we can keep in front for the whole year that'll be impressive enough for me whatever the final figure. Anyway lets crack on with tonight and target a few more winners across this line once again....

A link to tonight's race card can be found here;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/28-10-2015/fast-cards

Tonight is an 8 race card with 6 of them handicaps to ponder over. Racing commences here at 16:55 with a 1m 2f Handicap event and concludes at 20:25 with a mile handicap

The going on the polytrack is Standard to Slow, and there is rain currently forecast during the day. It'll be colder than usual too so wrap up.

Here we go with our selections for tonight's handicaps;

16:55 - 1m 2f Handicap

OR SO -- Unseated Rider 25/1?
CHARLIE'S STAR -- 5th 25/1

18:25 - 7f Handicap

FIRE AND PASSION -- 6th 7/1
GOOD LUCK CHARM -- 3rd 20/1

18:55 - 1m 3f London Middle Distance Series Handicap
Another round of the Middle Distance Handicap series is up next, we've a field of eight declared and a few of these have been taking their chances in earlier contests.

My preference is for something that might appreciate the change of season and hasn't been out of their depth totally so will try this pair against the field;

REVISION -- WON 7/1
COUNTERMAND -- 5th 20/1

19:25 - 1m 4f Handicap (Div 1)
HIORNE TOWER -- 7th 8/1
DUCHESS OF MARMITE -- 3rd 8/1

19:55 - 1m 4f Handicap (Div 2)
BOLLIHOPE -- Non Runner
HONEY BADGER -- 7th 9/2

20:25 - 1m Handicap
RED COSSACK -- 3rd 9/1
CHARLIE'S MATE -- WON 7/2

Staked -- 12 points
Returns -- 13.5 points

Results will be updated later on tonight, sorry for brief update again today it's a bit busy (and cold, and dark).

A couple of winners tonight and a few more places, (plus the non runner) means we have a small win of +1.5 points and brings us back up to +5.22 profit for the year to date.

We'll return here next week on Wednesday 4th November.

The sun goes down ... thankfully the lights are on.

FA CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW, TONIGHT FROM 7PM

The draw for the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup will be made later on today, another sure sign that Winter is soon upon us.

There are 80 Numbers in the "hat" for the first round proper

AFC Wimbledon are ball No. 2.

There is some small consolation that we can't draw out the Franchise scum until round three, so we'll probably get Crawley or Stevenage instead.

A home draw would also be nice for a change.

Well it's a home draw which is nice, but we've got FOREST GREEN ROVERS who are top of the Conference National so it's NOT going to be very easy at all.

Full draw  ... ties to be played over the weekend of 6/7/8 Nov

2015/2016 FOOTBALL SEASON. AFC WIMBLEDON vs YORK CITY (A)

SATURDAY 24th OCTOBER 2015

After an awesome away performance midweek coming from behind several times to win 4-3 against the mighty Accrington Stanley ('who are they?' Exactly) the Dons march off on another away mission to Eboracum, that's York City to you uneducated lot. (what do you mean they don't teach history and Latin in school nowadays?)

The Wombles have a decent record against the Minstermen but are generally inconsistent especially when they play against teams from the lower reaches of the division. York find themselves in 21st place this weekend and some 7 points behind their opponents who continue to reside around the mid-table area in 14th. York is an excellent place for a long weekend break, if you love your history and trains and I do, a win for the Wombles would simply add to the pleasure.

We'll update on Saturday before kick off with the confirmed starting XI for both sides and any further news as it comes available, line ups are now in, no BEAST this weekend.

Line Ups (confirmed);

AFC WIMBLEDON
Odds -- 6/4 (Corals)

Wilson (Gk),  Fuller (c), Osborne,  Robinson,  Meades,  Francomb,  Rigg,  Bulman,  Reeves,  Taylor,  Azeez

Subs – McDonnell (gk),
Kennedy,  Beere,  Elliott,  Ajayi,  Kaja,  Toonga

YORK CITY
Odds -- 21/10 (William Hill)

Flinders (Gk),  McCoy,  McCombe,  Lowe (c),  Ilesanmi,  Nolan,  Turner,  Collins,  Coulson,  Oliver,  Straker

Subs –
Ingham (gk),  Carson,  Winfield,  Rzonca,  Godfrey,  Tutonda,  Sinclair

H/T Score – 0 - 1

First Half Comment;

Wombles get off to their usual flying start, in the opening minute of the match Jonathan Meades flashes a header wide and for the first 15-20 mins or so it's all Wimbledon.

Beginning to worry that the threat has no final product, usual story of many corners but no target man. And then on 17 mins a Taylor ball through to Azeez, ball rebounded off keeper onto Azeez and it's IN!! One Nil.

After going behind York have started to rally and get back in the game but the Dons are still creating chances and Azeez probably should have made it two.

The first half ends with the Dons ahead.

F/T Score – 1 - 3

Match Summary;

Back to back on the road victories for the Wombles, scoring goals and to top it all Franchise Scum Fc lose again too, keep it up and maybe that play-off chance will be in sight for a chance. Ssshhh don't tell the football gods that.

Man of the Match – Lyle Taylor.

Referee -- Nigel Miller (County Durham) An experienced referee today who has been working in the Championship so hopefully doesn't see this step down to League Two as a demotion, at least hasn't had that far to travel. Reasonable with the cards, good luck.

Attendance – 3,000.

Next match:
Saturday 31st October vs Hartlepool (Home)
League Two 2:00pm (earlier start due to Rugby at Twickenham)

KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 21st OCTOBER 2015

Good evening all ... despite another small loss at the last meeting we are moving towards Autumn still ahead with a profit figure of +9.72.

Results will be updated later on tonight, sorry for brief update today it's a bit busy (and cold). Lost 6 points so down to just  +3.72 points profit, got a few place returns but for the purpose of the system we're almost down the last few pennies.

We'll return here next week on Wednesday 28th October.

PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2015 TURF SEASON -- PART SIXTEEN THE FINALE

PONTEFRACT SEASON 2015

[MONDAY 19th OCTOBER]

Our 16th and FINAL Meeting of the 2015 season.

Pontefract Racing 2014 System

A loss of 1 point last time out means we head into the final meetings on just the +0.41 points profit for the year, it's been a roller coaster season but the system method still stands up and the worst case scenario is that we lose all today but that's still only a small loss for the entire year, but you never know we do come here with a good chance of some nice results and bowing out for 2015 in profit.

All results for this meeting are returned to a level stake at SP, and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures. Maybe next season we will keep a separate tally of these and see if it's worth considering.

So onto our FINAL meeting of the 2015 Season, the sixteenth meeting takes place on Monday afternoon and is an eight race card starting at 2:10pm with a 2yo Nursery event over 1m, the final 5f handicap has been divided so we will end here for the season at 5:40pm.

The forecast going is currently reported as 'Good to soft, Soft in places' the weather for Monday is for a dry and mainly sunny day in the most part, could be a few drops of rain in the afternoon but for October is not too bad top temp is 13C during racetime so put a layer on and keep out of the cold.

Here are our selections for Monday afternoon, remember it's a very simple selection process of stalls 1 and 2 in any race;

2:10 1m 4y Nursery (2yo)
ZEALOUS -- Non Runner
PERMERA -- 11th 8/1

2:40 6f Maiden (2yo)
STORMY ART -- 9th 5/2
CARLOVIAN -- 8th 22/1

3:10 1m 2f 6y Handicap
PAMUSHANA -- 4th 3/1
ARROWZONE -- 2nd 17/2

3:40 1m 4yds  Silver Tankard Stakes (Listed)
DOT GREEN -- 7th 50/1
THANKSFORTELLINGME -- WON 13/8F

4:10 1m 4f 8yds Maiden
REETJA -- 3rd 2/1
DANZELLA -- 9th 100/1

4:40 2m 1f 216yds Phil Bull Trophy Conditions Stakes
NEARLY CAUGHT -- WON 2/5F
AMBER FLUSH -- 2nd 50/1
F/C -- 31.62

5:10 5f Handicap (Div 1)
ADDICTIVE DREAM -- 14th 12/1
LUIS VAZ DE TORRES -- 3rd 9/1

5:40 5f Handicap (Div 2)
ONE BOY -- 6th 7/2
SEARCHLIGHT -- 11th 11/1

Staked -- 16 points
Returned -- 5.025 points

Just a couple of short winners today, couple of places and a forecast but the main system loses 10.975 points so at the end of the season we finish on a loss of -10.565.

Win or lose it's been fun and I'll be back again next season.

See you next year then for more of the same.

ASCOT 'CHAMPIONS DAY' 17th OCTOBER 2015

It's Champions Day this Saturday at Ascot, sponsored by QIPCO, and features no less than four Group 1 contests and a mountain of prize money (over £4m) on offer throughout.

Racing starts early at 12:45 with the 2m Long Distance Cup, a Group 2 race worth over £170k to the winner. Nice work if you can get it.

There are 8 Champions to be crowned this afternoon, 5 in the categories for Long Distance, Sprinters, Fillies and Mares, Middle Distance and Mile. Will also see the Champion Jockey, Trainer and Apprentice being crowned even though the flat season goes through to November when the AW season takes over. Confused, yeah me too.

Today's races and selections;

12:45 -- 2m Champions Long Distance Cup (Group 2)
Champions Day gets under-way with a stayers contest, 13 declared including competition from Ireland and it's Dermot Weld who saddles last years winner FORGOTTEN RULES in an attempt to repeat. There are three raiders from the Willie Mullins yard too and they should be viewed in the market but we'll side with the Weld inmate. [8th 9/2]

Of the home talent it's FLYING OFFICER that takes our fancy with Frankie Dettori back at his fav track. The early odds give us 6/1 each so we'll take the pair against the field to start off the afternoon. [WON 6/1].

Always great to start the meeting with a nice winner, wonderful race by Frankie stole it from the front as they turned into the straight comfortable winner.

13:20 -- 6f Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 1)
20 runners line up for the Champion Sprint and it's likely that the market will be headed by unbeaten TWILIGHT SON who stepped up quickly to this level and given some breaks in a big field must be thereabouts. [2nd 4/1]

Henry Candy's colt might not be such a great price so we will look for a win/place fancy too which for me is MAAREK, a winner of 12 races, including here and the Group 1 Prix De L'Abbaye at Longchamp. [11th 25/1]

Muhaarah looks a true champion sprinter here, couple of lengths back to our main selection who ran well and will also pick up decent races next season. Sadly Marrek was never on terms and finished in the pack.

13:55 -- 1m 4f Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes (Group 1)
A dozen line up for our next Group 1, and it's the time for the ladies to earn their dough. Arabian Queen already has her G1 beating Derby and Arc winner Golden Horn in the York Juddmonte.

Last years winner Madame Chiang reappears and will be ready for this having had a fairly light campaign.

Preference however is for COVERT LOVE a winner of the Irish Oaks and more recently the Prix De L'opera at the Arc meeting. She's come along way from a Chelmsford Maiden event and should take all the beating today. [4th 4/1].

14:30 -- 1m Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Group 1)
This contest might have nine runners but essentially it looks a Match between French Champion SOLOW (WON 11/10) and Irish Champion elect GLENEAGLES

Should be a race to enjoy if the principles are on top form, I do have a sneaking suspicions that one won't be winning and that ELM PARK can also sneak a place. [5th 16/1]

Solow won well always looking the Champion while Gleneagles never struck a blow. Sadly Elm Park couldn't get placed but we're having a good day all the same.

15:05 -- 1m 2f Champion Stakes (Group 1)
The final Group 1 for today and revolves around the well being of Irish Derby winner JACK HOBBS. Runner up in the English Derby too represents the best form on offer and a recent spin around Kempton in a G3 should have him ripe for this.

Not a betting option as likely evens or less, isn't for me, so the place bet is our hope for FASCINATING ROCK [WON 10/1]

Well Dermot Weld strikes again, Fascinating Rock at 10/1 shoots home. Stepped up from G3 company and won this staying on to beat Found and Jack Hobbs who was one paced in 3rd.

Makes for a nice profitable day with the opening winner too.

15:45 -- 1m Balmoral Handicap
And after all that Group race action we conclude with a 20 runner handicap (excluding reserves).

In the big straight handicaps here it's usually best to pick one from either side of the draw, so we will take AYAAR (14/1 drawn 8) [18th 12/1] with Frankie on board along with HALATION (16/1 drawn 23) [12th 14/1] who will have the assistance of Jamie Spencer.

No joy for us in the finally as the Godolphin runner Musaddas ran away with this handicap. Still a very successful day for us and so I wish you all a wonderful weekend, I'm off to enjoy the rugger now even with no England involvement.
Two winners, 6/1 and 10/1 made it a good Champions Day for us, Have a great weekend.

KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 14th OCTOBER 2015

Good evening all ... despite another small loss at the last meeting we are moving towards Autumn still ahead with a profit figure of +14.72.

A link to tonight's race card can be found here;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/14-10-2015/fast-cards

Tonight is a 8 race card with only 3 handicaps to ponder over. Racing commences here at 17:45 with a 5f Nursery Handicap event

The going is Standard to Slow, and while there is no rain currently forecast it'll be colder than usual so wrap up.

Here we go with our selections for tonight's handicaps;

17:45 - 5f Nursery Handicap (2yo)

Opening event is a 2yo Nursery, no real exceptional form on offer as you'd expect for a low grade event, but we'll take a chance on two against the field with TESSELLATE [6th 3/1] who ran close in similar event at Chelmsford last time and BALTIC HISTOIRE [N/R] from Jamie Osborne yard who should show better now in a handicap than her three maiden events.

18:15 - 5f Handicap
Bit more form on offer for this sprint event, though none are what you could call prolific, so again we chance a couple of decent odds selections against the field with CIARA'S COOKIE [7th 33/1] a winner around Brighton and Yarmouth off higher marks, needs to take to the surface but is priced accordingly at about 16/1.

Our other selection is FAIRY MIST [8th 20/1] who again has done a lot of racing at the Sussex coast and Lingfield so this is a nice change of scenery and is equally about 16/1 for tonight.

20:15 - 7f Fillies Handicap
A 12 runner fillies event is our final handicap for the evening, and we fancy the chances of MILADY [4th 11/4] who just failed last time at Chelmsford and the extra furlong should help against these.

Staked -- 5 points
Returns -- None

Not the best of evenings a wipe out dropping our profit to only 9.72 points.

We'll return here next week on Wednesday 21st October.

The sun goes down ... thankfully the lights are on.

2015/2016 FOOTBALL SEASON. AFC WIMBLEDON vs OXFORD UNITED (A)

SATURDAY 10th OCTOBER 2015

Had a long weekend away last week and thus missed out on the Dons 2-0 home win against Barnet, seems they only win when I am away so I definitely WON'T be going to Oxford this weekend.

High-flying Oxford won 2-0 against Swindon in midweek (Football League Trophy) but they had lost their last league fixture a week ago to the mighty Accrington Stanley 1-3. They will still be a strong fav to hold the Dons at the Kassam Stadium. Oxford have long had the "Indian Sign" over the Dons, it took us many season to even score a goal against them let alone take a point or more off them.

Our hosts have started the season well and currently sit in 5th place, have only lost once and are unbeaten at home so far. If the Dons are to sprint a surprise we need to be more ruthless in our finishing and take the chances that our play creates, a couple of goals from corners wouldn't go amiss either but we must keep Danny Hylton quiet and stop their current top scorer Kemar Roofe from adding to his tally of 8 thus far.

We'll update on Saturday before kick off with the confirmed starting XI for both sides and any further news as it comes available.

Line Ups (confirmed);

AFC WIMBLEDON
Odds -- 3/1 (William Hill)

Shea (Gk),  Fuller (c),  Ajayi,  Robinson,  Meades,  Rigg,  Barcham,  Bulman,  Reeves,  Taylor,  Azeez

Subs – McDonnell (gk),
Kennedy,  Francomb,  Elliott,  Akinfenwa,  Osborne,  Toonga

OXFORD UNITED
Odds -- EVENS (William Hill)

Slocombe (Gk),  Baldock,  Mullins,  Wright (c),  Skarz,  Graham,  Lundstram,  Sercombe,  Taylor,  Roofe,  Hylton

Subs –
Carroll (Gk),  Hoban,  MacDonald,  Ruffels,  George,  Stevens,
Dunkley

H/T Score – 0 - 0

First Half Comment;
YAWN !!

Wake me up if something happens.

So far the first 45 mins has been -- You hoof it to us, we'll hoof it back. Blimey Rugby is more interesting than this dross. 9 corners and not a single decent effort on goal from either side, can only hope that it improves in second half.

At least Ajayi had the sense to go off injured so he doesn't have to suffer this rubbish any more.

F/T Score – 1 - 0

Match Summary;
The curse of the Kassam continues, another 1-0 loss, can't really complain since we didn't create that much, passed it about ok but there's no end product.

We are where we deserve to be, an average middle of league two side. Currently 14th, we've been roughly here all season -- Won't go up, won't go down (this season) we can only hope to improve and get the good news about the New Stadium before too long.

Man of the Match – George Baldock.

Referee --
Fred Graham (Essex), is very experienced and been in charge of games up to Championship level, but his 7 matches this season have seen 28 yellow cards so might have to keep an eye on how he clamps down especially how he deals with Adebayo Akinfenwa if he plays.

Attendance – 6,301.
