2015/2016 FOOTBALL SEASON. MANSFIELD TOWN vs AFC WIMBLEDON

SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER 2015

So it might be International Week for many but down in the depths of the Football League we are cracking on with a full program as the 2015/16 season moves into September.

This Saturday the mighty Wombles travel to Mansfield for their league encounter, a win last weekend against Exeter was a welcome boost however it was very disappointing follow that by surrendering a two goal lead to Plymouth in the Football Trophy on Tuesday night.

First Half Comment;

Another blistering start by the Wombles sees them take the lead inside 6 mins as Tom Elliott sweeps home inside the box. Let's keep this good start up and not throw it away like Tuesday.

This lead didn't last as Mansfield equalise on 15 mins with a cracking free kick from Chris Clements which gave James Shea no chance in the Wimbledon goal. Game on

Wombles edging the chances, more corners and possession as well as couple of bookings for Reeves and Robinson but we're still 1-1 as we head to half time, time for another booking for Wimbledon (Francomb) a card happy ref here.

F/T Score – 1 - 1

Match Summary;

More and more bookings as the second half got going, but this time for the home side, the game has now become a lot more even but neither side has been able to find the winner.

The late sending off was the final straw this ref ruined what could have been a good contest in the second half, not much more to add a point apiece and midtable seems to be the Dons limit again.

Man of the Match – Tom Elliott.

Referee -- Ross Joyce (Cleveland) -- clearly struggling with the step up from Conference level to League, loads of cards and a late red for Taylor in a game that was by no means cynical. Needs to calm down a bit or back to non league for you sir. 3/10

Attendance – 3,042
