2015/2016 FOOTBALL SEASON. AFC WIMBLEDON vs LUTON TOWN (A)

SATURDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2015

The Dons head off to Kenilworth Road this weekend home of our 2011 Conference Play-Off Final opponents LUTON TOWN. I wouldn't call them rivals but we've had some decent contests and that never to be forgotten penalty shoot out win at the City of Manchester Stadium. Glad to see Luton back in the league as well and although they are only in 19th place at present should never be underestimated.

I expect a hard fought contest, no quarter given, and the match up between the hatters' Steve McNulty and The Beast Adebayo Akinfenwa should be interesting to say the least.

Wimbledon lay in 12th neatly in midtable after last weekends comeback 2-1 win against Notts County. A follow up win is essential to start a run that can lead us into the top 7 for a change. Team news will be updated as soon as available, the only change for the Dons is who will replace the injured Will Nightingale.

First Half Comment;

Usual quick start by Wimbledon, on the front foot winning 3 corners early on in the half but sadly still not able to make full use of these opportunities. So far Akinfenwa getting stuck in and only took 15 mins to concede his first foul.

A half of few clear chances though, headers from both Bayo and Luton's McQuoid missing their targets, and the Dons best chance of the half from Andy Barcham well saved by the hatters Mark Tyler.

Karleigh Osborne receives two quick yellows for fouls and is dismissed on 35 mins, Dons got to see out the rest of the game with 10 men.

Luton on the up now for the rest of the half, but Dons still impress this half and on top with regards to possession (62%), chances on goal (4 shots to 2) and corners (7 to 2).

Let's get the 10 men in at HT without conceding and regroup there.

F/T Score – 2 - 0

Match Summary;

We lost, down to ten men in the first half, went behind with 12 mins to go and conceded again in the 90th. Luton win this round well done, off to the rugby surely my weekend can't get any worse.

Man of the Match – .

Referee -- Brendan Malone (Wiltshire), 47 year old postman, probably used to dishing out cards then, and a regular in the lower leagues. Refereed our match against Cardiff earlier in the season in the League Cup, was ok and hopefully will be wise enough to know what 'The Beast' is all about and not give Luton a foul every time like most do.

Attendance – 8,415.

Next match:
Tuesday 29th October vs Northampton (Home)
League Two 7:45pm
