KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2015

Good evening all ... We are having a good spell this summer and although the last meeting was a small loss we are still ahead with a profit figure of +25.72 for our activities here at Kempton Park, now 9 months in we will be trying hard to keep it going.

If we can keep in front for the whole year that'll be impressive enough for me whatever the final figure. Anyway lets crack on with tonight and target a few more winners across this line once again....

A link to tonight's race card can be found here;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/30-09-2015/fast-cards

Tonight is a 8 race card with 4 handicaps to ponder over. Racing commences here at 17:40 with the first of these handicaps over 5f. Going is Standard as always and we'll end at 21:10.

Here we go with our selections for tonight's handicaps;

17:40 - 5f Handicap (3yo+)
Our first contest tonight is a sprint handicap over the min trip and has 10 runners declared.

Couple of veterans with Wreningham and Imjin River, neither of which are without a chance, but I'd prefer something with a little more unexposed potential tonight even though it's a basement grade 7 event.

Down in trip, down in grade and in a handicap for her first time GOTASINGGOTADANCE is the token selection at a decent price and she'll surely prefer this to the maidens she's encountered before. [10th 10/1]

18:10 - 7f Handicap (3yo+)
A strong field of 14 next for the 7f contest, where last years winner DIAMONDS A DANCING tries for a repeat but is considerably higher in the handicap than when winning this event and might need some help from the handicapper, though has had a break and did run up a hat-trick last year so might prove better off during the autumn. [DH 4th 7/1]

I'm going with the inform PACOLITA who has won couple of times this year, and has 5 other places so looks good for the place market for sure. [8th 3/1]

20:40 - 1m 3f Handicap (London Middle Distance Series)
Another event in this series and a max field of 14 again, Godolphin took this event last year and are represented tonight with DREAM JOB, easily the least experienced with only two previous outings but won a maiden on the AW at Chelmsford last time and should be competitive. [5th 7/4]

21:10 - 1m 3f Handicap
The finale is equally difficult to solve, good luck if you trying to get out of trouble, with a max field of 14 declared we'll chance two decent priced selections against the field and they'll be HAAMES [10th 12/1] / MAYBE NOW BABY [9th 9/2]

staked -- 6 points
returns -- NIL

No joy tonight so lost 6 points from our profit reducing us to +19.72 points now.

We'll return here next week on Wednesday 7th October.

The sun goes down ... thankfully the lights are on.

2015/2016 FOOTBALL SEASON. AFC WIMBLEDON vs LUTON TOWN (A)

SATURDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2015

The Dons head off to Kenilworth Road this weekend home of our 2011 Conference Play-Off Final opponents LUTON TOWN. I wouldn't call them rivals but we've had some decent contests and that never to be forgotten penalty shoot out win at the City of Manchester Stadium. Glad to see Luton back in the league as well and although they are only in 19th place at present should never be underestimated.

I expect a hard fought contest, no quarter given, and the match up between the hatters' Steve McNulty and The Beast Adebayo Akinfenwa should be interesting to say the least.

Wimbledon lay in 12th neatly in midtable after last weekends comeback 2-1 win against Notts County. A follow up win is essential to start a run that can lead us into the top 7 for a change. Team news will be updated as soon as available, the only change for the Dons is who will replace the injured Will Nightingale.

Line Ups (confirmed);

AFC WIMBLEDON
Odds -- 21/10 (W Hills)

Shea (gk),  Fuller (c),  Osborne,  Robinson,  Meades, Francomb,  Barcham,  Bulman,  Reeves,  Akinfenwa,  Azeez

Subs – McDonnell (gk),
Kennedy,  Gallagher,  Rigg,  Kaja,  Oakley,  Sweeney

LUTON TOWN
Odds -- 8/5 (Betfred)

Tyler (gk),  McNulty (c),  O'Donnell,  Wilkinson,  Griffiths,  McQuoid,  Smith,  McGeehan,  Lee,  McCourt,  Mackail-Smith

Subs –
Justham (gk),  Lawless,  Hall,  Green,  Marriott,  Potts,  O'Brien

H/T Score – 0 - 0

First Half Comment;

Usual quick start by Wimbledon, on the front foot winning 3 corners early on in the half but sadly still not able to make full use of these opportunities. So far Akinfenwa getting stuck in and only took 15 mins to concede his first foul.

A half of few clear chances though, headers from both Bayo and Luton's McQuoid missing their targets, and the Dons best chance of the half from Andy Barcham well saved by the hatters Mark Tyler.

Karleigh Osborne receives two quick yellows for fouls and is dismissed on 35 mins, Dons got to see out the rest of the game with 10 men.

Luton on the up now for the rest of the half, but Dons still impress this half and on top with regards to possession (62%), chances on goal (4 shots to 2) and corners (7 to 2).

Let's get the 10 men in at HT without conceding and regroup there.

F/T Score – 2 - 0

Match Summary;

We lost, down to ten men in the first half, went behind with 12 mins to go and conceded again in the 90th. Luton win this round well done, off to the rugby surely my weekend can't get any worse.

Man of the Match – .

Referee -- Brendan Malone (Wiltshire), 47 year old postman, probably used to dishing out cards then, and a regular in the lower leagues. Refereed our match against Cardiff earlier in the season in the League Cup, was ok and hopefully will be wise enough to know what 'The Beast' is all about and not give Luton a foul every time like most do.

Attendance – 8,415.

PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2015 TURF SEASON -- PART FOURTEEN

PONTEFRACT SEASON 2015

[THURSDAY 24th SEPTEMBER]

14th Meeting of the season ...

Pontefract Racing 2014 System

A small loss on the last meeting means we are now looking at a small profit of +10.91, which makes a nice change from being behind most of the season so now look at taking the next step to securing a profit for the whole season since there are only a few meetings left.

All results for this meeting are returned to a level stake at SP, and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures.

Our next meeting of the 2015 Season, the fourteenth so far, takes place on Thursday afternoon and is an eight race card since the opening maiden event has been split into two divisions. The meeting will get under-way at 2.20pm with a 6f Maiden for 2yo's.

The forecast going is currently reported as 'Good, Good to Soft in places' the weather for Thursday is rather breezy with sunshine and showers, possibly heavy later with a high of 14C during the day.

Here are our selections for Thursday afternoon, remember it's a very simple selection process of stalls 1 and 2 in any race;

2:20 6f Maiden (2yo) Div 1
CHEMPEDAK BAY -- 8th 6/1.
WILDE EXTRAVAGANCE
 -- 2nd 8/1.

2:55 6f Maiden (2yo) Div 2
ROYAL DISPLAY -- 9th 20/1.
EXPLOSIVE POWER
 -- 3rd 7/2.

3:30 1m 4yds Fillies Nursery Handicap
POPLAR CLOSE -- 9th 20/1.
MAULESDEN MAY
 -- N/R.

4:00 6f Handicap
SUNRAIDER -- 5th 10/1.
RICH AGAIN
 -- 10th 14/1.

4:35 1m 2f 6yds Handicap
THIS IS THE DAY -- WON 7/2.
FATTSOTA  -- 3rd 7/2.

5:10 1m 4yds Maiden
SIGNED AND SEALED -- 9th 16/1.
TAUTOLOGY -- 5th Evens.

5:40 5f Handicap
DEBIT -- 9th 5/1.
RUBY'S DAY
 -- N/R.

CERTIFICATION -- 11th 10/1.
MAJOR MAC
 -- 8th 10/3.

staked -- 16 points

Lost 9.5 points today which was a bit of a disappointment but hasn't completely wiped us out, so with only two more meetings to go we are down to just the +1.41 points profit.

Have a good day.

KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER 2015

Good evening all ... We are having a good spell this summer and although the last meeting was a small loss we are still ahead with a profit figure of +27.72 for our activities here at Kempton Park, now 9 months in we will be trying hard to keep it going.

If we can keep in front for the whole year that'll be impressive enough for me whatever the final figure. Anyway lets crack on with tonight and target a few more winners across this line once again....

A link to tonight's race card can be found here;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/23-09-2015/fast-cards

Tonight is a 8 race card with only the 3 handicaps at the end of it. Racing commences here at 17:20 with a 7f Nursery, followed by four maiden events so our first handicap is race 6 over 1m 4f at 19:55 and ends with the 20:55 Handicap over 6f.
Here we go with our selections for tonight's handicaps;

19:55 - 1m 4f Handicap (3yo)
Hayley Turner might have announced her retirement but she's not stopped winning since and looks to have another great chance of success here with CLOVELLY BAY [N/R].

20:25 -
1m 3f Handicap (London Middle Distance Series)
Just the 7 declared here and while Richard Hannon runs a pair it's his SHELL BAY that did us a nice turn not too long ago winning at the Shergar Cup meeting, this is a more realistic contest that his last race back at Ascot. [3rd 7/1]

20:55 - 6f Handicap
A 12 runner handicap to end tonight with and top weight ENCAPSULATED [4th 7/2] should go well again in this company and the place is almost guaranteed you would think.
(Hmm that worked out well eh ... famous last words)

BUBBLY BAILEY [N/R] is the other one to go with for the win bet though and we'll aim to dutch the pair against the field.

staked - 4pts

returns -- 2pt

Couple of non runners and a place means we are down -2pts tonight. Still leaves us nicely ahead for the year to date on a mark of +25.72 points to a level stake at SP.

We'll return here next week on 30th September.

The sun goes down ... thankfully the lights are on.

2015/2016 FOOTBALL SEASON. AFC WIMBLEDON vs NOTTS COUNTY

SATURDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2015

After last weeks slightly disappointing draw away at Yeovil the Dons are at home this weekend to 18th placed Notts County. Now we all know that the Dons struggle when faced with lower placed opposition and seem to do better against the top teams, we are praying this changes at the weekend since this is the sort of game we need to win convincingly if we are serious about a play off attempt this season.

Good that 'The Beast' Adebayo Akinfenwa scored last time out and was outstanding in most of the chances created, so I expect he'll start in an unchanged starting eleven.

The Notts County defence will have their hands full with him, but the Dons have other weapons in their armoury and if as County defender Haydn Hollis says they intend playing a higher line that will suit us nicely as we have pace in the team too.

Be brave Dons, go for it early and 3 points will be ours.

Line Ups (confirmed);

AFC WIMBLEDON
Odds -- 11/8 (W Hills)

Shea (gk),  Fuller(c),  Nightingale,  Robinson,  Meades, Francomb,  Barcham,  Bulman,  Reeves,  Akinfenwa,  Elliott

Subs – McDonnell (gk),
Osborne,  Beere,  Rigg,  Kaja, Azeez,  Pilbeam

NOTTS COUNTY
Odds -- 11/5 (W Hills)

Carroll (gk), Amevor, Swerts, Hollis, Audel, Campbell, Opoku Aborah, Snijders, Burke, Stead, McLeod,

Subs – Smith, Spencer,  Loach, Thompson,  Noble, Jenner, Edwards

H/T Score – 0 - 1

First Half Comment;

What can you say about the first half, it was boring, there was no plan other than thumping it up to Bayo, so was no shock to me that the away side took the lead following a deep free kick which was headed home by defender Haydn Hollis.

Wombles still need to find someone who can deliver a corner, as time and again they fail to turn their domination in this regard (8 corners to county's 1) surely it can't be that hard to train how to cross a set piece to either near or far post, sorry but it's a pet hate of mine.

F/T Score – 2 - 1

Match Summary;

A good result but not a very entertaining game, still 3 points is 3 points and nice to come from behind for a change than losing a lead. Akinfenwa heading home in the last min to complete the turnaround after Dannie Bulman had equalised following a George Francomb cross with five mins to go.

The result was the important thing here, beating a team from the lower end of the table for a change, next up is Luton Town and memories of the Conference seasons and play off final, hopefully this one won't go to pens...

Man of the Match – Jake Reeves.

Referee -- Andy Davies (Hampshire) We are blessed with an experienced referee today, has taken charge of games in the Championship so hopefully a pleasant change from the ex-Conference refs we've had of late

Attendance – 3,962.

PONTEFRACT SEASON 2015

[Thursday 17th September]

13th Meeting of the season ...

Pontefract Racing 2014 System

Little bit of a break since the last meeting and sadly that one gave us a small loss halting the good run we were on. As such our running total is still showing a small profit of +12.535, which makes a nice change from being behind most of the season so now look at taking the next step to securing a profit for the whole season since there are only a few meetings left.

All results for this meeting are returned to a level stake at SP, and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures.

Our next meeting of the 2015 Season, the thirteenth so far, takes place on Thursday afternoon and is an eight race card, as the 2m Handicap has been split into two divisions. The meeting will get under-way at 2.10 with a 5f Maiden for 2yo's.

2015/2016 FOOTBALL SEASON. YEOVIL vs AFC WIMBLEDON

SATURDAY 12th SEPTEMBER 2015

Another away day this weekend with the travelling Wombles off to sunny Yeovil Town. A team currently struggling for points down in the bottom two already this season can only mean one thing when the Dons turn up....yep have all you like on a Yeovil win. It's bound to happen, it always does.

Yeovil's manager Paul Sturrock is already getting his excuses in early in case the unexpected happens and the Dons win, he's got at least 10 players out and also Shaun Jeffers suspended after last weekends sending off, their bench may have to be filled up with academy / youth players at this rate, still a chance for some.

The Dons youngsters had a good run out midweek against Bournemouth U21s and the likes of Ryan Sweeney, Callum Wilson and Egli Kaja could feature more in the first time this season as manager Neal Ardley gives youth a chance, Lyle Taylor is serving a suspension for recent sending off.

Line Ups (confirmed);

AFC WIMBLEDON
Odds -- 13/10 (W Hills)

Shea (gk),  Fuller(c),  Nightingale,  Robinson,  Meades, Francomb,  Barcham,  Bulman,  Reeves,  Akinfenwa,  Elliott

Subs – McDonnell (gk),
Osborne,  Beere,  Rigg,  Kaja, Azeez,  Sweeney

YEOVIL TOWN
Odds -- 12/5 (Stan James)

Krysiak (gk), Cornick,  Lacey,  Arthurworrey,  Smith,  Roberts,  Dolan,  Wakefield,  Howells,  Bird,  Sowunmi

Subs – Sokolik,  Weale,  Gibbons,  Allen,  Beck,  Melanson

H/T Score – 1 - 0

First Half Comment;

A fairly even first half although the Dons did hit the target a few times with some tests that Yeovil keeper Artur Krysiak was equal too.

25 mins in and as expected Yeovil take the lead with a neat headed finish close in Ryan Bird. 1-0, lets see if the Dons can respond. More shots on target followed but unable to make this pressure count, can't afford to fall further behind here, good open game but Dons still behind.

Reeves hits the post towards the end of the half and the only note about the ref is that he's gone off injured and replaced by the 4th official, but did OK in a game that didn't need any histrionics from the man in the middle.

F/T Score – 1 - 1

Match Summary;
Dons managed to come from behind to level up but unable to push on for the win, Yeovil did well for a team at the bottom of the table and should build on this with Paul Sturrock the right man in charge to steady the ship following recent relegations.

As for the game a draw seems fair albeit disappointing from the Dons perspective, hitting the bar a number of times until Bayo struck towards the end. Next week is a home match against Notts County and it looks like a game were the line up needs a change. Great that Bayo got his goal he's been overdue and this might bring about a change of fortune now.

Man of the MatchAdebayo Akinfenwa.

Referee -- Lee Swabey (Devon) -- another out of the Conference ranks, already bit card happy showing 10 Y and 2 R in just 4 matches, does seem to be well touted by the Referee's association for a future career progression to the Premier League.

We will see...well I thought he was ok until he went off before half time, he can officiate us again when he's fit.

Attendance – 3,687.
