KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #24 WEDNESDAY 29th SEPTEMBER

Kempton Park Twilight Meetings 2021

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse a season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will continue blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Started well this season pleasantly still ahead as we push on through Aug/Sept still in profit and less than half the season to go. Away from the horse racing we've seen AFC Wimbledon hosting Plymouth Argyle last weekend and threw away a lead again to lose 1-2 sadly. It will be Burton Albion coming to Plough Lane next weekend and Tuesday night we face Rotherham United too which ended in another defeat 3-0 sadly. Also the Ryder Cup which was played at Whistling Straits Golf Course, Wisconsin and won by the strong USA team led by Steve Stricker. There's another meeting at Pontefract for us next Monday 4th October too with Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe meeting at Longchamp and Champions Day at Ascot coming to us during October.

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. A successful opening first half of the year during 2021 went a little behind in July but now we are back in front during September and following last weeks 25/1 winner we've seen the profit for the season rise to +46.805 points after the last meeting and we will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 26/34 (76.47%) after another success at the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress during the year ahead.

This week will be our 24th Wednesday evening meeting of the year. Tonight's meeting we shall be expecting an eight race card with six handicaps for us to review, this is due to the division of the 7f contest creating an additional contest so we will begin half hour earlier tonight. No 'feature' contests the best of the action is a 1 mile Class 2 handicap due off at 18:00 and our action will now commence at 17:00 with a 2yo novice event for fillies event over six furlongs, then we should end the card around about 20:30 with the final handicap event over just under two miles.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cloudy afternoon and early evening with a fair chance of showers in the forecast and a highest expected temperature of around 16C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
18:00  MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap
1m  [Class 2  9 runners]
Imperial Sands [9th @4/1] is a lightly raced 3yo who won here on his debut and probably found the step into listed class a little too hot plus the soft ground at Sandown might not have suited. A return to a sounder surface back here should see him in better light and one to consider over the mile. Also interested in The Turpinator [7th @13/2] a 4yo who only has four previous races for Marcus Tregoning another previous winner here but that was nearly two years ago, has raced only twice since then and missed his 3yo campaign but has returned to the course with a runner up place, one of the more likely types here.
Winner - (1) Kenzai Warrior @20/1 [Jack Mitchell].

18:30  Follow MansionBet On Twitter Handicap
1m 2f 219y  [Class 3  13 runners]
Top weight might not stop Bugle Major [6th @5/1] from having a big say, was runner up in France early in the season and has two more near misses since, was staying on when beaten 1/2l by a long odds on shot latest. Sky Power [2nd @5/2] owned by the King Power Racing club was a good 2nd at Goodwood two runs back, has an all weather success albeit at Southwell and this is a very open contest but still relatively lightly raced over this trip.
Winner - (8) Pistoletto @28/1 [Darragh Keenan].

19:00  MansionBet Watch And Bet Handicap (3yo)
1m 2f 219y  [Class 5  12 runners]
A field of twelve, all 3yos, Red Flyer [2nd @9/2] is of interest if his clear cut success at Windsor can be repeated here. Has had three runs here at the start of his career and then began to step up in trip, the booking of William Buick tonight is a plus. Eagle's Realm [10th @25/1] is a big price dual purpose horse, runner up at Chelmsford about a year ago, no weight here and available at 25/1 so is a selection that I'll back in the place markets too.
Winner - (11) Limited Edition @8/1 [S Levey].

19:30  Download The MansionBet App Handicap (Div 1)
7f  [Class 6  14 runners]
This event has been split into two divisions the opening half can go the way of Always Dreaming [Non Runner] who returns to 7f now and down a few pounds from the handicapper, also has the 5lb claim from jockey Elisha Whittington, ought to be close. Defilade [6th @10/1] won last time out at Wolves over this trip with Shane Kelly riding again, only led on the line to catch the leader that day, needs to be timed right if played late once more.
Winner - (1) Los Camachos @7/2 [Grace McEntee].

20:00  Download The MansionBet App Handicap (Div 2)
7f  [Class 6  14 runners]
The second division could be one for 3yo Bobby On The Beat [9th @11/2] who has been placed in slight higher grade events than this and now has the Champion jockey Oisin Murphy to help matters for trainer Michael Bell. Desert Marathon [6th @9/1] is a 3yo filly trained by Charlie Fellowes and has the valuable 5lb claim from Saffie Osborne which should help. Has been running into places but dropping down the handicap, is still lightly raced and there is potential still, decent odds on offer in a lowly race.
Winner - (5) Helluvaboy @25/1 [Ray Dawson].

20:30  MansionBet Proud To Support British Racing Handicap
1m 7f 218y  [Class 6  14 runners]
George Baker supplies top weight Highway One [8th @6/1] in the stayers finale, a decent enough mare over this trip and this sort of level, wins at Lingfield as well as here this term showing that even as a 7yo still has the winning touch, should go well once more in this company. Eagle One [5th @5/2] trained by Amanda Perrett has been runner up last two runs, and hasn't run here since his debut but since being stepped up in trip has appeared to improve, another you shouldn't be too far off at the finish and a place bet too for us @12/1.
Winner - (11) Percy's Prince @14/1 [Rob Hornby].

Staked - 12 points.       Returns - 1 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meetingOur winning start to 2021 has returned and we are now back in the black to the tune of +46.805 points to a level stake at SP coming into this week's 24th meeting. Terrible night, losing 11 points with no sign of a winner, means we have a reduced profit of +35.805 points to carry over to the next meeting.

Lays -- 26/34 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. These continue to go quite well given we are past the half way point of the year, and they are generally very short prices, including another successful fav beaten during the last few meetings. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. First favourite beaten tonight, sadly the 1/5f didn't fail to shine and we therefore have a record of 27/36 now.
Tonight's Lays;
17:00 - Calm Skies  [6f 2yo Fillies Novice].  LOST 7th @6/5f
17:30 - Migdam  [1m 2yo Novice].  Won @1/5f
Kempton Park Racecourse

We will have another midweek floodlit meeting here on Wednesday 6th October so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful 2021.
