KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #23 WEDNESDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER

Kempton Park Twilight Meetings 2021
Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse a season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will continue blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Started well this season pleasantly still ahead as we push on through Aug/Sept still in profit and less than half the season to go. Away from the racing we had AFC Wimbledon hosting Plymouth Argyle last weekend and lost 0-1 in a game we should have won comfortably, tonight we will be at The Emirates facing Arsenal in the League Cup third round. There's another meeting at Pontefract for us tomorrow too with The Arc meeting and Champions Day at Ascot coming to us during October.

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. A successful opening first half of the year during 2021 went a little behind in July but now we are back in front during September albeit with a reduced profit of +20.93 points after the last meeting and we will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 25/32 (78.12%) after the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress during the year ahead.

This week will be our 23rd Wednesday evening meeting of the year. Tonight's meeting we shall be expecting an eight race card with four handicaps for us to review. No 'feature' contests the best of the action is a class 3 handicap due off at 19:15 and our action will now commence at 16:40 with the first handicap event over a mile trip, then we should end the card around about 20:15 with the final handicap event over six furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cloudy afternoon and early evening with a fair chance of showers in the forecast and a highest expected temperature of around 21C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
16:40  Adoha's One Let's Have Some Fun Handicap
1m  [Class 6  14 runners]
One of only two winners over this trip in the field the 6yo mare Emerald Fox [5th @14/1] ticks plenty of boxes here, is only 1lb higher than her last win (Lingfield 16/12) so only one other run this season might be able to show enough to score again tonight.  Another mile winner last time out (again at Lingfield 16/08) Lago Bay [9th @11/1] has the 3lb claimer George Rooke on board once more, shouldn't be far off once again in a low grade race lacking in depth despite the field of fourteen.
Winner - (8) Whatzupwithme @12/1 [Philip Prince].

19:15  Follow MansionBet On Twitter Handicap (3yo)
1m 2f 219y  [Class 3  5 runners]
A very small field of five runners, the short price favourite is Barn Owl a very comfortable winner at Beverly last time and Roger Charlton's colt out of Frankel has an excellent opportunity to follow up here. Too short for us in the handicap to be a pick so will try and take it on with the 'March' pair ... March Law [2nd @11/1] (Mark Johnston) was runner up in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot so clearly is decent and would be strongly fancied to give the fav plenty to think about, while support for Marching Army [WON @4/1] (S Bin Suroor) appears for the Godolphin owners hasn't quite hit top gear, but can improve and the small field might help.
Winner - (4) Marching Army @4/1 [Hollie Doyle].

19:45  MansionBet Watch And Bet Handicap
1m 3f 219y  [Class 6  13 runners]
Temple Lock [WON @25/1] having only his third run on the all weather trained by Eve Johnson Houghton, got ahead to win a small field race at Bath, still only a 3yo so plenty of time to score again, this is a low grade event and coming back to this trip might help if able to settle with Charlie Bishop in the saddle now. Riverfront [12th @9/1] is an Andrew Balding inmate, winner early in his career at Windsor over this trip, has been slowly sliding back down the handicap since that win and tonight might see the 5yo perform better with strong handling from David Probert a positive booking.
Winner - (4) Temple Lock @25/1 [C Bishop].

20:15  Download The MansionBet App Handicap
6f  [Class 6  12 runners]
Secret Potion [8th @33/1] is an experienced 7yo from Ronald Harris' yard and still proved had plenty of winning spirit when scoring back to back wins earlier this summer. Wouldn't be a surprise to win another class six contest and one of the more likely types tonight. Pinball Wizard [WON @15/8f] has landed the no1 stall, and won a similar looking event here last month for trainer Clive Cox. Adam Kirby rides now, though couldn't justify favouritism next time at Salisbury when attempting to make all this return to the all weather might favour him.
Winner - (10) Pinball Wizard @15/8f [Adam Kirby].

Staked - 8 points.       Returns - 33.875 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting
Our winning start to 2021 has returned and we are now back in the black to the tune of +20.93 points to a level stake at SP coming into this week's 23rd meeting. Nice couple of winners so far, including a big 25/1 shot to boost out profits for the season one race to come, and we picked up the final winner too which gave us a healthy profit tonight of +25.875 and overall we have +46.805.

Lays -- 25/32 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. These continue to go quite well given we are past the half way point of the year, and they are generally very short prices, including another successful fav beaten during the last few meetings. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Two favs tonight, one beaten one sadly was victorious albeit as odds on. So we are 26/34 now.
Tonight's Lays;
17:15 - Random Harvest  [1m  Fillies Novice Stakes].  Lost 3rd @13/8f
18:15 - Golden Warrior  [6f  2yo Novice Stakes].  Won @8/11f
Kempton Park Racecourse

We will have another midweek floodlit meeting here on Wednesday 29th September so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful 2021.
