KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #19 WEDNESDAY 4th AUGUST

Kempton Park RacingWelcome to Kempton Park racecourse a season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will continue blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Started well this season pleasantly still ahead as we reached the turn of the midpoint of the year. We've just finished a busy week of racing with the Glorious Goodwood meeting and Galway Festival over in Ireland. The football season for AFC Wimbledon is all set to begin this coming Saturday with an away trip to Doncaster and the Olympics are on in Tokyo which has been interesting and plenty of British success.

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. A successful opening first half of the year during 2021 came to an end prior to the last meeting but we secured three good winners (including a 50/1 shot) and now we are back in front with a profit of +43.555 points we will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 20/27 (74%) after the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress during the year ahead.

This week will be our nineteenth Wednesday evening meeting of the year. Tonight's meeting we shall now be expecting an eight race card with four handicaps for us to review. Our action will now commence at 17:25 with the first of our handicap events over a mile, then we should end the card around about 21:00 with our final handicap event over seven furlongs, there are no feature races tonight on what appears to be a fairly average midweek meeting here.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat warmer afternoon and early evening with a serious chance of showers in the forecast and a highest expected temperature of around 22C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
17:25  Bet At racingtv.com Handicap
1m  [Class 6  14 runners]
Our opening handicap for tonight a lowly class six contest with fourteen set to face the starter, headed by Fox Leicester [N/R] who won over 2f further at Lingfield but wasn't able to follow up back over this trip last time and call is to oppose. The Kings Steed [5th @28/1] will also need to show a bit better than last time but won twice before that Yarmouth run and had a short break so comes into the equation with Hollie Doyle in the saddle. Also going to take a chance on the bottom weighted Thunderclap [WON @2/1] who as a 3yo is lightly raced and only second try in a handicap with Oisin Murphy on board looked an interesting price in a lowly contest to begin and has been well supported notwithstanding the non runners tonight too.
Winner - (14) Thunderclap @2/1 [Oisin Murphy].

20:00  Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap
1m 3f 219y  [Class 4  8 runners]
Chai Yo Power is seeking a hat trick for Sir Michael Stoute and looks likely to be a short price to do so here, with a field of only eight we will look for two to take him on starting with Civilian [6th @15/2] was a winner in France while trained by Freddie Head and is now with the Simon and Ed Crisford team in the ownership of Highclere. Shouldn't be too far off on his second Uk start. Aced It [2nd @12/1] is ex-Irish trained (JP O'Brien) and was successful here over course and distance, followed that up with a win at Doncaster was found out on soft ground at Ascot in a better class so returns to this track with a good opportunity to run up to his mark. (12/1 forecast an appealing win/place option as long as all eight stand).
Winner - (3) Chai Yo Power @6/4f [S De Sousa].

20:30  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
1m 7f 218y  [Class 5  8 runners]
A field of eight here for the stayers contest, top weight Mukha Magic doesn't really have the profile of a stayer and will pass over, while joint top weight Kepala at least has a few bits of form from last season but again doesn't seem to be overdue off this mark. The ones for us to be very interested in are Sir Mark Prescott's Summer's Knight [Non Runner], this 3yo successful in three of his last four runs, and the runners up position was in a far stronger class of race at Haydock. The yard are famous for being able to run up sequences with their horses once stepped up in trip, cannot be seriously left out of the equation. While the bottom weight Forever William [3rd @4/1] is given another chance to show more improvement for the longer trip, only five career starts and was runner up at Newbury last time out and Hollie Doyle takes over from Cieren Fallon.
Winner - (4) Vino Victrix @5/4f [Oisin Murphy].

21:00  Unibet New Instant Roulette Handicap (3yo)
7f  [Class 5  7 runners]
Our finale is for three year olds, just the seven declared, Impeach [7th @14/1] has a six month absence to overcome but was runner up when last seen here at Kempton, looks well priced against the market leaders. Handicap debutant Rajmeister [3rd 11/1] with only the three career runs does include a 3rd around here and wouldn't need to be a superstar to run well in this event available at 12/1+.
Winner - (4) Motorious @13/8f [Oisin Murphy].

Staked -- 8 points.       Returns -- 4 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting
Our winning start to 2021 has returned following a fabulous 50/1 winner at the last meeting and we are now back in the black to the tune of +43.555 points to a level stake at SP. Small loss tonight of -4 points which leaves us on +39.555 points to SP carried over to the next meeting.

Lays -- 20/27 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. These continue to go quite well given we are half way through the year, and they are generally very short prices, including two beaten favourites last time. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Got it beat, so 21/28 now.
Tonight's Lays;
19:00  Kings Guard [7f 2yo Novice Stakes]. Lost 4th @10/3
Kempton Park Racecourse

We will have another midweek floodlit meeting here on Wednesday 11th August so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful 2021.
