KEMPTON PARK RACING 2020 MEETING #16 WEDNESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER

Night races at Kempton Park 2020
Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse here for another evening meeting as we return to regular action on the all weather flat track under the lights but behind closed doors for the time being. We will keep blogging throughout 2020 till the end of the year. British horse racing has safely returned behind closed doors as part of a phased return for the sport. In doing so we will be introducing strict protocols designed to safeguard everyone's health and well being and to ensure that racing can take place safely behind closed doors. These measures have been developed in consultation with government and public health officials to help keep those attending safe and include:
  • A three stage health check that all attendees on courses will have to pass;
  • Strict social distancing measures on course
  • Detailed new guidance for all participants on how they will have to do things differently on course in order that we can race safely and mitigate any risks.
In addition the courses are reducing the use of any medical or NHS services to a minimum, acting responsibly by using private ambulances, hospitals and medics – to protect the NHS. For those working at an event, including officials, racecourse staff and participants, the implementation of these guidelines ensures that racing will take place in a more controlled environment than most day-to-day activities.

Back to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) was a month since out last meeting here, where sadly we dropped a couple more points but as we are now in September and after meeting #15 and some unfortunate near misses we find ourselves in a loss for the year to a figure of -38.515 points, results are always recorded to SP we will aim to get us back into the winners enclosure again soon and see further improvement in the results.

Kempton Park Racecourse
Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 40/54 (74%). We reset the counters for 2020 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently a decent start with plenty of short priced favourites getting beat, two more short priced favs beat last time we now have stats of 19/27 (70.37%) after the latest meeting.

This week we are back with a Wednesday evening meeting during this interrupted period, this will be meeting #16 for the 2020 midweek season. Tonight we shall be expecting a nine race card with no fewer than six handicaps which will keep us busy. The action will now commence at 16:25 with the division of the opening six furlong novice stakes and we should end the card around about 20:30 with our final handicap contest over the stayers trip of mile and seven furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of cloudy weather and some rain expected the temperature to reach around 17C by the time the meeting gets underway a sure sign that Autumn is upon us now.
Here are our handicap selections for tonight;

17:25  Unibet Casino Deposit 10 Get 40 Bonus Handicap
1m [Class 6  14 runners]
The seven year old Fivehundredmiles [7th 12/1] can be competitive off this mark but does need all things to drop his way, still attractive at 20/1 here while the 4yo filly Lady Morpheus [2nd 4/1] is a course and distance winner and although up a few pounds since then has William Buick in the saddle for trainer Gary Moore, wouldn't be too surprised for another big run here.

18:30  Try Our New Runner Boost At Unibet Handicap
1m [Class 3  14 runners]
Won back to back races earlier in year, Golden Force [7th 16/1] has got a little to find off 6lb higher, but Hayley Turner could be the trick and a big run at 20/1 isn't out of the question while Artistic Rifles [Non Runner] is another multiple winner on turf, having only his second try on the all weather, at least a regular winner and therefore high on our list tonight.

19:00  Try Our New Runner Boost At Unibet Handicap
1m 2f 219y [Class 3  8 runners]
Smallest field handicap tonight has top weight Emirates Knight [2nd 11/4] back down in grade and this more his sort of opposition having been last at Ascot, on a recovery mission but does run well here and should be close. Iffraaz [WON 5/1] won at a big price here for Mark Johnston and another who will appreciate the return to all weather track and smaller field.

19:30  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
1m 2f 219y [Class 6  14 runners]
A field of three year olds, my first consideration is Ripon winner Lord Warburton [Non Runner] ran well again when runner up at Wolves and although unable to run to form a few days later that run could have come too soon, has had a small break and should be right in the mix tonight. On The Right Track [3rd 18/1] seemed to appreciate the extra trip with his best effort so far a third place at Salisbury and might continue to improve here.

20:00  Unibet Thanks The Front Line Workers Handicap
7f [Class 5  14 runners]
Runner up at Wolves last time Swiss Pride [6th 6/1] was running on and could be able to strike tonight. Late Arrival [WON 2/1] having had three places this year returns to the all weather track and off a mark of 75 could strike at a nice price while the yard is in decent form and William Buick booked to ride.

20:30  Bet At racingtv.com Handicap
1m 7f 218y  [Class 6  14 runners]
Walk It Talk It [7th 18/1] had shown her liking for a test of stamina with a couple of place runs though last time out was disappointing will give her another chance in this low grade. While support for Call My Bluff [WON 10/3] after his success at Goodwood over 2m would be significant and it's possible he can go in again on the all weather track.

Staked -- 12 points.       Returns -- 15.33 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. This season we started afresh and will try hard to stop going well behind but all results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A disappointing start to 2020 now sees us behind after meeting #15 to the tune of -38.515 overall and we need some more winners to get back into profit. A small success overall tonight with some welcome victories in the last few races. Loss is reduced slightly to -35.185 carried over to next week.

Lays -- 19/27. We had a good season last year with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Two short price favs won tonight in the opening races and that's the chance you take laying short ones I guess. At least our third choice as unable to win, so 20/30.

Tonight's Lays;
16:25 - Operatic  [6f Fillies Novice]  Won 6/5f ;(
16:55 - Chocoya  [6f Fillies Novice]  Won 8/11f  ;(
18:00 - Siam Fox  [1m 2yo Stakes]  Lost 3rd 9/4 ;)

Our next evening meeting here will be next week Wednesday 7th October hope you can join us again soon but most importantly remain safe and well.

🏇 PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2020 SEASON -- MEETING #8 24th SEPTEMBER

Pontefract Horse Racing 2020 Season
PONTEFRACT SEASON 2020.
Welcome to the next instalment of our online coverage for the second half of the season here at Pontefract. Horse racing meetings around the country continue behind closed doors so we will continue to cover things as best we can here and then update if/when the guidelines change.

Official Statement from Pontefract Racecourse regarding Coronavirus;
*The information below is correct at 5pm on Wednesday 16th September and will be updated as and when further information is available and/or updated advice is received.*
At Pontefract Racecourse the safety and welfare of our visitors, racegoers, participants and team is paramount. We are keeping up to date with the latest information and advice from the Government and the British Horseracing Authority and have a team ready to implement recommended actions. We have been allocated 10 race meetings 'Behind Closed Doors'. This means that there will be no public in attendance and race meetings will be open to jockeys, trainers and officials only.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) have now allocated further fixtures through to the end of the year, this means that there are an additional four fixtures for Pontefract to add to those already announced, we've had five meetings this season and there will be five more till we end on 19th October, therefore we've sadly lost six meetings from the usual calendar, under the current guidance these meetings will still be scheduled 'behind closed doors'.
These will be on:
  Friday 14th August
  Thursday 17th September
  Thursday 24th September
  Monday 5th October
  Monday 19th October
The season has received it's final set of fixtures for 2020 and instead of the usual 16 races through the year we have to settle with just the 10. Still better than nothing and we of course continue the racing here at Pontefract behind closed doors. This is the eighth of the revised schedule due on Thursday 24th September where the 1st race will be a 6f maiden contest due off around 13:00pm.

It's a seven race card for Thursday afternoon and as usual ALL of our results for these fixtures are recorded to a level stake at Starting Price (SP), and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures. After the first seven meetings of the season despite managing a few winners but sadly not quite enough and thus we carry forward a loss of -23.29 points to SP as we look ahead to this eighth meeting of the reduced season today.

Currently a decent start with plenty of short priced favourites getting beat, one short fav beat last time we now have stats of 17/24 (70.83%) after the latest meeting.

This week we are back with a Wednesday evening meeting during this interrupted period, this will be meeting #15 for the 2020 midweek season. Tonight we shall be expecting an eight race card where the final four of these are handicaps. The action will now commence at 16:25 with a six furlong novice stakes and we should end the card around about 20:00 with our final handicap contest over six furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of cloudy weather and some rain expected the temperature to reach around 18C by the time the meeting gets underway.
Here are our handicap selections for tonight;

18:30  Rasher and Maureen Frith Memorial Handicap
1m [Class 6  14 runners]
An old friend around here the 8yo MISU PETE [7th 40/1] is back on a very workable mark now and has still been winning this term is available at 20/1 so will be a bit of an e/w bet for us too. While ROGUE TIDE [2nd 12/1] has tried racing here a few times and has dropped a little in the weights, another at a big price with Hollie Doyle taking the ride surely a big positive.

19:00  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap
1m 2f 219y [Class 3  6 runners]
Just a small field of six for this class three contest, all three year olds and headed by the Godolphin runner NEVER ALONE [5th 4/1] a dual winner at Wolves and a repeat of those runs should be sufficient here, though support for STAR OF WINS [2nd 16/5] could be interesting having won twice on turf, this is his first try on an all weather surface, was a bit disappointing last time at Yarmouth in another small field but is by Sea The Stars so the trip is almost perfect.

19:30  Unibet Casino Deposit 10 Get 40 Bonus Handicap
1m 3f 219y [Class 6  14 runners]
With wins at Bath and places off similar marks MAGIC SHUFFLE [8th 11/2] at least holds his form and jockey Tom Marquand in great form this season while SAEER [9th 13/2] is a well bred runner for Sir Michael Stoute, outclassed at Chester and this track and opposition should be better suited, has Ryan Moore in the saddle as a bonus.

20:00  Try Our New Runner Boost At Unibet Handicap
6f  [Class 6  12 runners]
STARTER FOR TEN [9th 10/3] didn't seem to appreciate the Soft/Heavy going last time out at Redcar but did run to a place at Lingfield before then up against an odds on fav that day and nothing of that sort here, should be close again while the very experienced ENGLISHMAN [2nd 20/1] might be 10yo but still has winning form this year again, three times on the all weather tracks and also popped up at Newmarket too so not without a chance again here. Close but no cigar. ;(

Staked -- 8 points.       Returns -- Nil points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. This season we started afresh and will try hard to stop going well behind but all results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A disappointing start to 2020 now sees us behind after meeting #14 to the tune of
 -30.515 overall and we need some more winners to get back into profit. So annoying with several runners up including a big price in last, sadly that takes our loss figure to -38.515 now.

Lays -- 17/24. We had a good season last year with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Got two favs beat tonight, sadly one very short priced one was successful. 19/27.
Tonight's Lays;

17:00  Secret Protector [7f 2yo Novice Div One] Won 1/4f
17:30  Underwater Attack [7f 2yo Novice Div Two] Lost 6th 6/4f
18:00  Perfect Inch [1m Fillies Novice] Lost 2nd 4/9f

AFC WIMBLEDON v PLYMOUTH ARGYLE -- 20/21 LEAGUE ONE - 19th SEPTEMBER 2020

League One Season 20/21
EFL League One 2020/21 Season
Saturday 19th September 2020
AFC Wimbledon will 'host' their first game at the QPR Stadium while awaiting for work on Plough Lane to be completed. Our opponents for this will be Plymouth Argyle who were of course the team we conquered in the 2016 League Two playoff final at Wembley. Plymouth won promotion last season by finishing 3rd in League Two behind Champions Swindon and runners up Crewe, thus managing to reacquaint themselves with us once more. The Pilgrims are managed by Ryan Lowe who steered them back into League One in his first year at the helm. Their opening match in this year's league campaign saw them win 1-0 at home against Blackpool Town, striker Luke Jephcott headed home Argyle's third-minute winner. They defended well in that match and weathered a volume of attacks from Blackpool, the betting markets have it fairly even, but if the Dons can start as well again as they did against Northampton last week I am confident of a positive result here. Joe Pigott leads the line again and continues to wear the captains arm band.

Most Recent League Games
Northampton 2 - 2 AFC Wimbledon
Plymouth Argyle 1 - 0 Blackpool Town

Head to Head
First competitive game was in 2011 where the Dons ran out winners 2-0 at Home Park, and if you include the cup competitions it's fairly even having played each other seventeen times. Wimbledon winning seven times, Plymouth six, the remaining four have been drawn. The highest profile game of course being the League Two play off final at Wembley in 2016 a 2-0 win for AFC Wimbledon.

First Half Comments;
The Pilgrims kick off this match at QPR, The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, our temporary home till Plough Lane is ready. Ryan Longman has a couple of early half chances for us and it's great to see a bright start again with our new players keen to make an impact. While the opening efforts are from range, it's Plymouth who win the first corners of the game and are starting to have the upper hand, so no shock they took the lead on the quarter hour, George Cooper with a  left footed shot from a difficult angle on the right to the top left corner following a corner. That was short lived however as just a minute or so later Joe Pigott equalises with a right footed shot from the centre the assist coming from Brighton loanee Ryan Longman. It's very open, fairly attacking from both sides, Mr Kettle finally gets his cards out and books Alex Woodyard for Wimbledon, but even he's been fairly quiet this half. The half sees several Wimbledon attacks that sadly come to nothing and it looks like we are going in at the break all square at 1-1....but NO, Plymouth score again right on the 45th minute Conor Grant with a cracker to take the lead again.

Full Time Score - 4 - 4.

Match Summary;
Wow what a game, 1-0 down, 2-1 down but the second half we turned it around and a welcome 'home' win (unbeaten in the league so far lol) McLoughlin got us level just after the break then Pigott scores his second and Ryan Longman secured the win with a well deserved strike. Might be 20 mins to go but I'm really that confident about this ... damn. How the hell are they doing this to me, 4-3 then 4-4, shame there's no one there to enjoy this value for money goal fest.

My Man of the Match - Joe Pigott.
_
Attendance - None Sadly. ;(

Today's Referee - Today's match referee will be Mr Trevor Kettle from Rutland, a very experienced referee and not one to be messed with, very high card to game ratio. Last season we had him twice, losing both games, hopefully better luck this time around. Will be assisted this afternoon by Stephen Finch and Nicholas Cooper while the fourth official is Ryan Whitaker.
