KEMPTON PARK RACES 2019 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #13 12th JUNE -- MEETING OFF

KEMPTON PARK RACES 2019 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS
Continuing with the next instalment of what I hope will prove to be a productive year throughout 2019.

It's now mid June, almost half the year gone already and Royal Ascot is just a week away now. Naturally we will have every race on every day covered here on this blog from the Royal Meeting which of course begins on Tuesday 18th June. Continuing to wait patiently for the release of next years EFL League One fixtures in just over a week's time as well and have been enjoying the Women's World Cup in France which is fairly entertaining and without the diving and cheating you see in the men's game.
The pre season friendlies will begin for us Dons fans in early July and we've a short tour to Germany too so the summer will keep us busy.

*NEWS UPDATE*
Racing at Kempton on Wednesday is OFF

Kempton Park officially called off Wednesday night’s scheduled meeting after a “major water burst” at Hampton Court cut off the water supply to the Sunbury track.

We have very slow or no running water and with Thames Water unable to provide a timeline of when it will be rectified, we’ve unfortunately had to abandon racing due to both equine and human welfare. We have very little running water and we will run out before too long as things stand. We did manage to store some water for the horses that arrived overnight.

“There is plenty of water coming out of the skies, but unfortunately nothing coming out of the taps!”

-----------------------------
Back now after a short break to focus on the all weather horse racing now while the lights still shine brightly here at Kempton Park throughout this year. We are hopeful of better season than we experienced last year but it's just some fun and excitement to mix up the week we have started the first half a little behind to SP though it's positive thus far with regular winners and successful lay bets too.

Let us continue with this our thirteenth Wednesday night of 2019, and will continue to focus on the handicap contests for each Wednesday evening meeting though we will also occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too if there is one available. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1 point level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds than this but for the purpose of these results here we simply record SP returns only.
Following a small profit last time our deficit is currently on -16.40 points to SP returns overall. We continue to battle hard to reduce this and thankfully there is still plenty of time to get this back on track.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we have been fairly successful with our selections so far and last time got another selections beat which means we are now 12/19 we will continue with this through 2019.

This Wednesday will be meeting number thirteen for the 2019 AW season and we are expecting a seven race card tonight with six handicaps this week for us to look through and enjoy. The action which will now commence at 17:50 with a one mile apprentice handicap contest and the card ends around about 20:50 with our final handicap contest over a mile seven furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD

The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of cloudy with more than an average chance of rain a top temperature will be about 16C by the time the meeting gets underway.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight (short on time today so selections only for time being);

17:50 -- 1m Apprentice Handicap.
The opening contest is for apprentice jockeys so we naturally look towards the consistent ones that have already negated some of their claim this season. So COME ON TIER is a natural choice with one of the most experienced around and along with GAINSAY for who Tyler Saunders has only a 3lb claim now are our selections against the field.

18:20 -- 6f Handicap (3yo).
Hard to ignore any Mark Johnston runner in his current form and I AM A DREAMER was good enough as a 2yo to attend Royal Ascot so a repeat of that level would surely see him go close here. JOURNEY OF LIFE might still be a maiden but has shown on several occasions that there is a race to be won with him and is also selected against the field.

19:20 -- 1m 2f 219y Handicap (3yo).
MONDAIN is given another chance to show some form against his own age but is beginning to be a little frustrating. SAWASDEE ought to improve for the step up in trip and Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle for the King Power Racing colours before maybe looking at something better.

19:50 -- 6f Fillies Handicap.
Consistent runner and second in this contest last year ROSE BERRY enters calculations as does PEGGY SUE who has won her share of contests and another good show amongst her own sex looks likely.

20:20 -- 7f Handicap.
CHAI CHAI is another representing the King Power Racing owners and looks nailed on to place so we are hopefully of some improvement. While PAPA STOUR has a tough draw but runs well here and was a little unlucky last time so with Oisin Murphy in the saddle should be supported to gain consolation.

20:50 -- 1m 7f 218y Handicap.
Our finale tonight for the stayers, BIRD FOR LIFE won over the trip recently and while I don't know much about the 7lb claimer Ellie Mackenzie was on board for that win. DAGHASH is a 10yo with not many recent miles on the clock having had 2 years off the track, returned with a 3rd place at Chepstow suggesting there is still some talent there over these trips.

Staked -- 12 points.
Returns -- xx points.

Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. We are currently on a deficit of -16.40 points to SP returns for the season, six months of the season to go though.

LAYS -- 12/19. Another successful lay last time around and will see if we can find one or two short priced selections and will post here if we have any for tonight.

Tonight's Lays;
18:50 -- CARAVAN OF HOPE [1m 2f Novice Stakes].

MEETING HAS BEEN ABANDONED DUE TO RAIN

2019 AW season at Kempton under the lights

Our fourteenth meeting for this year will be held in two weeks on Wednesday 26th June so hope to see you then and throughout the rest of 2019 too.
