KEMPTON PARK RACES 2019 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #12 5th JUNE

KEMPTON PARK RACES 2019 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

Continuing with the next instalment of what I hope will prove to be a productive year throughout 2019.

It's now June, almost half the year gone already and we've crowned this years Epsom Derby winner -- Anthony Van Dyck [13/2]. Then also celebrated Liverpool winning this years Champions League Final 2-0 and now waiting patiently for the release of next years EFL League One fixtures in a few weeks time as well as listening to the Cricket World Cup via Test Match Special in the office. The pre season friendlies will being for us Dons fans in early July and we've a short tour to Germany too so the summer will keep us busy.

Back now after a short break to focus on the all weather horse racing now while the lights still shine brightly here at Kempton Park throughout this year. We are hopeful of better season than we experienced last year but it's just some fun and excitement to mix up the week we have started the first half a little behind to SP though it's positive thus far with regular winners and successful lay bets too.

Let us continue with this our twelfth Wednesday night of 2019, and will continue to focus on the handicap contests for each Wednesday evening meeting though we will also occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too if there is one available. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1 point level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds than this but for the purpose of these results here we simply record SP returns only.
Following a small loss again last time to SP our deficit is currently on -16.65 points to SP returns overall. We continue to battle hard to reduce this and thankfully there is still plenty of time to get this back on track.
KEMPTON PARK RACES 2018 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS
Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we have been fairly successful with our selections so far and last time got both selections beat which means we are now 11/18 we will continue with this through 2019.

This Wednesday will be meeting number twelve for the 2019 AW season and we are expecting an eight race card tonight with five handicaps this week for us to look through and enjoy. The action which will now commence at 17:15 with a six furlong maiden contest and the card ends around about 20:45 with our final handicap contest over a mile for fillies.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD

The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of cloudy with slim chance of rain a top temperature will be about 18C by the time the meeting gets underway.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;

17:45 -- 7f Handicap.
A field of 14 but low on quality really and we focus on a couple of decent price outsiders SMOKEY LANE [9th 5/1] has been tumbling down the weights and with Oisin Murphy booked for the ride tonight might be the time. The very lightly raced YIMOU [8th 11/1] out of Kodiac is trying his first handicap contest and this would take much winning with his three races in maiden company included a 66/1 second on the all weather.

19:15 -- 7f Handicap (3yo).
Another 14 runner field in a better class of contest for three year olds only, headed by Richard Hannon's DIRTY RASCAL [5th 25/1] who drops down in grade for this and back to with a couple of pounds of his winning mark so at 16/1 out to run well. A runner up last time out MAWAKIB [WON 9/4F] for Roger Varian might be able to go one better back after a month off. It's a very wide open race where plenty are in with a shout.

19:45 -- 1m 3f 219y Handicap.
A class 3 contest probably the best race on today's card, top weight Cosmelli has been struggling to see out his races off a high rating and will need some rest-bite from the handicapper to show. We like the pair of BIG KITTEN [2nd 5/1] and VOLCANIC SKY [4th 9/2] against the field, the latter ran very consistently last year and the only question is will he need this first outing of the season, though didn't start last years campaign until June either.

20:15 -- 1m 7f 218y Handicap.
The stayers race has a field of 12 and should be run at a decent lick, we will concentrate on the course and distance winners in the line up so that gives us KNIGHT CRUSADER [7th 11/4] a winner here in March and runner up couple of times since might be one to keep on the right side of. Also looking at SASSIE [WON 5/1] a 4yo filly who has won here in November and also around Brighton, good jockey too and still has time to improve over these longer trips.

20:45 -- 1m Fillies Handicap.
We conclude the meeting with a fillies race over the mile, top weighted Nightingale Valley won on soft at Nottingham last time and the change of venue as well as the weight concession should be too much of a burden tonight. VIXEN [Non Runner] is a 5yo mare and can continue her improvement over this trip, a winner at the course and Lingfield this could be within her grasp along with the 3yo filly CLARA PEETERS [8th 3/1] who is lightly raced and can make the most of her handicap mark with more improvement likely.

Staked -- 10 points.
Returns -- 10.25 points.

Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. We are currently on a deficit of -16.65 points to SP returns for the season, six months of the season to go though. Just two winners and a non runner so that returned a tiny profit of +0.25 to alter our deficit to -16.40.

LAYS -- 11/18. Having got both selections beat last time and will see if we can find one or two short priced selections and will post here if we have any for tonight.

Tonight's Lays;
17:15 -- SHAMMAH [6f Fillies Maiden] -- LOST 8th 4/1.
We are 12/19 now.

2018 AW season at Kempton under the lights
