PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2018 TURF SEASON -- PART FOURTEEN

PONTEFRACT SEASON 2018.

Thursday 27th September.
Welcome to this our 14th meeting of the year. There are only two more to come after this. 

1st race 2.05pm, gates open 12 noon. 

The highlight of our second September meeting is the 'Dalby Screw Driver' Handicap. In the early 19th century, a horse named SCREWDRIVER set the Pontefract pulses racing. He won at least two ‘Cup’ races, these consisted of four heats over two miles on the same day! The winner being the horse with the best aggregate score over the eight miles, thus he is the earliest Pontefract course specialist on record.

This race will be underway at 15:50 and is one of eight exciting races on the card which gets under way just after 2pm.

We had a small loss last time around and we had to take a hit on our balance so we come into the final few meetings of the year behind to the tune of -20.075 to Starting Prices. There is still a few chances to get that back before the end of the season although there are only three more meetings including this one so we can hopefully get that back starting today. We will continue throughout this season to record ALL results for these fixtures which are returned to a level stake at Starting Price (SP), and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures.

The forecast going is now currently reported as 'Good, Good to firm in places' the weather for Thursday afternoon is for a generally cloudy day with some chance of showers but hopefully not too much rain to spoil the day We've a forecast maximum temperature around the 17C mark as we come to the end of the season here in Autumn.

Here are our selections for the eight races on Thursday afternoon, now that the opening maiden event has been split into two divisions. Remember it's a very simple selection process using stalls one and two in every race;

We come into this meeting with a small loss figure of -20.075 points to SP. Results from today will be updated later on at the end of the meeting. All being well we can move back into the black today and kick on from there. A few winners, and some near misses but overall a small loss today of -2.75 means we are down -22.825 till next week.
