KEMPTON PARK RACES 2017 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #14 7th JUNE

Our fourteenth meeting of 2017 here at Kempton Park and the flat turf season has it's Derby winner WINGS OF EAGLES 40/1 so we are back to the regular Wednesday nights here in Sunbury on Thames. We sadly dropped a few more points last time so we find ourselves behind by -14.0 points now to level stakes at SP. We have time to turn this around though starting tonight.

As always our focus will be on the handicap contests for each meeting but will occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too.

Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1pt level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds but for the purpose of these results we record to SP.

We will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of short priced favourites too, as always we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures.

This week is our fourteenth meeting for 2017 and we are expecting a six race card tonight with five handicaps for us to delve into so we will be busy tonight. This evenings action will commence at 17:55 with a Class 5 handicap over seven furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card;

EVENING RACECARD

The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast is for much warmer but humid day with a max temperature of about 19C when the meeting gets underway and looks likely to remain muggy throughout the evening.

Here are our selections for this evenings 5 handicap races;

17:55 -- 7f Handicap.

A strong field of 13 for our opener, will be excluding the older horses from our calculations and focus on the 4yo's. Of which the pair HELFIRE [2nd 7/1] and SALEH [5th 9/2] have good recent form and can give us a win to kick off with.

18:25 -- 1m Fillies Handicap (London Mile Series).
Only four make the line up here for this event, strange as these series qualifiers are usually competitive affairs. KARISMA will probably go off fav especially with Ryan Moore booked for the ride, and HERE'S TWO is the only real Course and Distance winner amongst the four.

We go for TEGARA [WON 5/2] though, and Hollie Doyle is riding well and her 3lb claim could be very valuable.

19:25 -- 1m 2f 219yds Handicap (London Middle Distance Series).

And a much more suitable field of 13 for the middle distance race which is nice, all 3yo's and generally lightly raced. Ryan Moore takes over on board Sir Micheal Stoute's NATHAN MAYER [6th 10/3F] and can score again after a recent Nottingham win.

Another with a decent AW record in his short career is FOOTMAN [2nd 12/1] who was close 2nd here on his penultimate start before struggling at Windsor on turf, that run might be a blip.

19:55 -- 1m 3f 219yds Handicap.
This is tricky to call though siding with the 4yo again gives us the pair of CAPTAIN PEACOCK [6th 11/4F] and OPPOSITION [Non Runner] against the field. Race does appear wide open so hopefully the betting market will reflect that on the evening.

20:25 -- 1m 7f 218yds Handicap.
And the finale tonight, another 9 line up here over a few yards short of 2m. A difficult race again, although PLYMOUTH SOUND [6th 8/1] looks worth a go again together with DENMEAD [WON 5/1] a good pair against the field here to end with.

Staked -- 9 points.
Returns -- 10.5 points.

Results will appear later tonight, hopefully we can wipe out the current deficit of -14.0 points that we bring forward to this round of racing here
.

Couple of winners and successful lay tonight, only 1.5 points profit tonight so still behind by -12.5.

Lays -- Currently stands as 6 from 9.

Laid fav in 6.25 KARISMA (LOST 10/11F)

We now have a few regular weeks of AW meetings and as such will be back at this course on 14th June.
