KEMPTON PARK RACES 2016 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #21 6th JULY

Better week last time and won three races giving us a nice profit on the night, however we are still behind to the tune of -44.59 points so still plenty of work to be done but positive signs nonetheless as we turn into the second half of the season.

Though not as good as recent seasons have begun we do still have plenty of time to recover things. At least the places paid a little bit and the LAY bets are also still losing (or winning, depending on your view) so I'm optimistic that things will turn in our favour soon.

As always our focus will be on the handicap contests for each meeting but will occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1pt level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds but for the purpose of the results we record to SP.

We will keep up with our occasional lay opportunity of short priced favourites and as a result of yet another successful lay last time out we have a success rate of 10 from 10. Results for this will be kept separately too and hopefully we can remain at 100% for a long while yet.

This week there's a 7 race card on offer, 6 of which are handicaps and the meeting will commence at 17:45 with the a 7f event for apprentice jockeys.

The going on the polytrack surface as usual is described as Standard and the current weather forecast is for a patchy day with sunshine but plenty of cloud. The temperature is likely to remain at about 20C when the meetings begins and will cool during the evening.

Another good week with a profit tonight which helps to reduce our loss overall by 17 points. Nice one.

Before then however we have plenty of action from Pontefract as well as the festivals Glorious Goodwood and Galway over in Ireland which both take place in the final week of July. 

PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2016 TURF SEASON -- PART EIGHT

Tuesday 5th July 2016
8th Meeting of this season ... 

Back for another afternoon and the eighth instalment for our system that focuses on Pontefract racecourse, West Yorkshire. After the first few meetings we had started off steadily but sadly slipped up a little last time out and now have a loss figure of -22.81 points to level stakes at SP. It's half way through our season here and there's still chances to get this on track, we've another 8 meetings to get that back.

Moving onto our 8th meeting of the season, this Tuesday we should be getting underway about 2.10pm.

As always we count ALL results for this meeting returned to a level stake at SP, and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures.

The forecast going is currently reported as 'Good' the weather for Tuesday afternoon is for a fairly cloudy day in the most part, not that warm given it's now July but at least it should not be raining. A max temp is going to be about 19C but probably a little cooler by race time with plenty of cloud cover.

DAY OFF UP LONDON -- CABLE CAR RIDE OVER THAMES

Had a few days off this week originally planned for a postponed trip to York which I should now arrange for September. So instead of wasting the days I finally made a trip I've been meaning to do for some time on the Emirates sponsored Cable Car known as the Emirates Air Line. 

Took an early morning train up to Waterloo and Jubilee line to North Greenwich which is of course home to the O2. From there it's a fairly short stroll to the entrance for the Thames Cable Car that was built and opened in time for the 2012 London Olympics. 

It's not that well signed but that's not so bad as you can't miss it as long as you turn LEFT out of the underground station (and not "right" as I was instructed) then just look up and you can't miss the cable cars coming into "land". 

The cars are compact and could probably accommodate a family of say six occupants, fortunately it was quiet and I was able to travel in one to myself. This allowed for some excellent views of the journey and the surrounding scenery as we travelled over the Thames towards the Royal Victoria Docks landing stage. 

Also took a ride around on the DLR as haven't been on that stretch for a good few years and returned home again on the London Overground service into Clapham Junction via Peckham and Denmark Hill so have now done the entire London Loop journey on the Overground routes. 

Started raining once I got myself back home ... well it is Summer and Wimbledon Tennis is on I suppose so normal service has resumed, all is well in the world again. :)
