KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #29 WEDNESDAY 3rd NOVEMBER

Kempton Park Twilight Meetings Nov 2021

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse a season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will continue blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Started well this season pleasantly still ahead as we push on through the autumn still in profit and now into November with only a couple more months of the season left to go. The past weekend saw some cracking racing over the jumps at Ascot and Wetherby, while AFC Wimbledon were away at Cambridge United in League One sadly losing 1-0. The famous Melbourne Cup action will take place on Tuesday in Australia, and then on the weekend we'll have the breeders cup meeting to watch at Del Mar as ITV will show all the action on terrestrial television.

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. A successful opening first half of the year during 2021 went a little behind in July but now we are back in front during September and looking okay throughout October we've seen the profit for the season rise to +48.135 points with further success coming at the last meeting and we will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 31/42 (73.80%) after another success at the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress during the year ahead.

This week will be our 29th Wednesday evening meeting of the year. Tonight's meeting will now begin earlier than expected with an eight race card to enjoy, we will still have five handicaps including a 2yo nursery contest. With the clocks going back we will begin a little earlier than usual and our opening race will therefore commence at 14:45 with the opening two year old nursery contest over seven furlongs, then we should end the card around about 18:15 with the final handicap event which again is over the seven furlong trip.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cloudy afternoon and early evening with a fair chance of scattered showers in the forecast while the temperature is not likely to get much higher than around 11C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
14:45  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Nursery (2yo)
7f  [Class 6  13 runners]
Having raced three times on the all weather tracks both here and at Wolves, Heerathetrack [3rd @8/1] has a lowly handicap mark for his first run in a nursery. Chased home a couple of short priced favourites in novice events and the trip seems fair, probably be effective over a mile later. Petal Power [11th @22/1] is a 2yo filly trained by Mick Channon therefore receives loads of weight allowances here and has plenty of experience of this sort of competition, been placed a few times in nurseries and likely to be thereabouts once again.
Winner - (1) Convection @7/2f [Rob Hornby].

16:45  Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap
7f  [Class 3  9 runners]
It was only her first race of this season that Cry Havoc [6th @12/1] finished last of six in and should be able to run much closer with that effort under her belt now. Was winning on the all weather prior to that last year and still lightly raced for a 4yo filly. Another older horse, Tintoretto [4th @6/1] is a 6yo, winner here last year, and returned with a Goodwood success earlier in May and is only 1lb higher than that win so surely has a good chance again today.
Winner - (8) Mobadra @11/4f [Marco Ghiani].

17:15  Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap
6f  [Class 3  7 runners]
Mighty Gurkha should appreciate the return to this level and surface, rated 105 earlier in season back down to 95 here today and despite top weight ought to run well in a race more suitable to his ability (well down the field in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot). Another with interest is Huraiz who has also been dropped in the weights be the handicapper and could be one to finally break a losing sequence. Ran well to be close up when 3rd last time out at Chelmsford in a slight higher grade.
Winner - (3) Beyond Equal @7/1 [Rob Hornby].

17:45  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
1m 3f 219y  [Class 4  7 runners]
Top weight City Tour [5th @17/2] carried 10st when second at this course last month, has a chance on that in this company. A winner before that over this trip at Windsor, seems to be effective on both turf or this all weather surface. Another who needs a bit of a closer look now returning to this surface is Rae Guest's 5yo mare Squelch [6th @9/1]. She won three on the bounce last summer, and well travelled, this smaller field should suit and will go well at a decent price tonight.
Winner - (6) Rafiot @4/1 [Rhys Clutterbuck].

18:15  Unibet Casino Deposit 10 Get 40 Bonus Handicap
7f  [Class 6  13 runners]
The meeting finishes early with a seven furlong handicap, just the two course and distance winners here and might see if I can get the 33/1 available about Magicinthemaking [2nd @18/1] the 7yo mare now has Daniel Muscutt riding and won twice here two years ago and this is a very low level race. Ice Age [13th @40/1] is the other course and distance winner in the field and carries top weight. Diamonds at Dusk [4th @9/2] could have more of a say now dropping back from a mile, having finished 3rd last time.
Winner - (6) Lucayan @9/2 [David Probert].

Staked - 10 points.       Returns - Nil points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meetingOur winning start to 2021 has continued and we remain in the black to the tune of +48.135 points to a level stake at SP coming into this week's 29th meeting. No joy tonight, although nice place bet was secured in the last, and the lays were both beat, but we drop -10 points off our profit sadly and move onto next weeks meeting with a figure of +38.135 points.

Lays - 31/42 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. These continue to go quite well given we are into the final few months of the year, and they are generally very short prices, including another successful fav beaten during the last few meetings. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Both favourites beaten today, 33/44 now.
Tonight's Lays;
15:45 - Testing Faith  [1m 2yo Novice Div 1]  LOST 2nd 6/5F
16:15 - Marcelo's Way  [1m 2yo Novice Div 2]  LOST 9th 2/1F
Kempton Park Racecourse

We will have another midweek floodlit meeting here on Wednesday 10th November so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful 2021.
