KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #26 WEDNESDAY 13th OCTOBER

Kempton Park Twilight Meetings 2021

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse a season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will continue blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Started well this season pleasantly still ahead as we push on through the autumn still in profit and only three months of the season to go. NFL games are taking place in London, last Sunday it was Atlanta Falcons 27 - 20 New York Jets, and then next Sunday we will see Miami Dolphins take on Jacksonville Jaguars at the Tottenham Stadium. Cheltenham NH meetings are coming up soon as the jumps season begins in earnest, AFC Wimbledon had a weekend off and will next host a game against Sheffield Wednesday this coming Saturday.

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. A successful opening first half of the year during 2021 went a little behind in July but now we are back in front during September and looking okay through into October we've seen the profit for the season rise to +34.305 points despite a small loss with the last meeting and we will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 28/38 (73.68%) after another success at the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress during the year ahead.

This week will be our 26th Wednesday evening meeting of the year. Tonight's meeting we shall be expecting an eight race card with all bar one race being handicaps for us to review. Therefore our action will now commence at 17:00 with the opening handicap over six furlongs, then we should end the card around about 20:30 with the final handicap event over seven furlongs which has been divided giving us an extra contest tonight.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cloudy afternoon and early evening with a fair chance of showers in the forecast and a highest expected temperature of around 16C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
17:00  Unibet New Instant Roulette Handicap
6f  [Class 6  11 runners]
Good Earth [2nd @8/1] stayed on well at Brighton to pick up an overdue win, could well follow up here off the same mark if the surface suits. Jockey Nicola Currie keeps the ride again. Also fancy Brazen Belle [Non Runner] who took an Amateur jockeys event at Lingfield last time out, now has James Doyle in the saddle.
Winner - (7) Sovereign Slipper @15/8f [Adam Kirby].

18:00  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap
6f  [Class 3  10 runners]
Several with 'top weight' here but Run To Freedom [WON @9/2] has been productive over seven furlongs and drops back to six here, I still think there is plenty of talent over this distance to score again. Winner here (beat a 1/4f that day) and more recently at Newmarket, looks a decent price too. Will have that paired with One Night Stand [Non Runner] who has eased in the weights slightly, ran well in a small field at Ascot in September and could have something to off on the all weather this autumn/winter.
Winner - (1) Run To Freedom @9/2 [Adam Kirby].

18:30  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Nursery Handicap (2yo)
1m  [Class 4  10 runners]
Including a 2yo Nursery handicap tonight, will be waiting to see if Jamie Osborne's Astaroth [4th @10/3] turns out again after a win in a similar nursery here last week, seems that he does which is good. That's four victories in his last five runs and might not have stopped yet. Will also have Moon Island [WON @17/2] in the mix too tonight, lightly raced so far, runner up here last time out but no match for the winner that day, ridden by Hollie Doyle tonight.
Winner - (4) Moon Island @17/2 [Hollie Doyle].

19:00  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
1m  [Class 4  13 runners]
A winner here back in May, Super Over [6th @5/1] has then run placed three out of four runs and latest of those was at this track beaten only neck/head into 3rd. Sure to go well once more and one of the more likely winners. We will also have an interest in Satono Chevalier [11th @7/1] too, Sir Michael Stoute's 3yo colt has only had the three runs, earning his handicap mark Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle, decent price available and stepping up to a mile should be capable.
Winner - (8) Lafan @10/1 [S Levey].

19:30  Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap
7f  [Class 5  13 runners]
Top weight Shoot To Kill [2nd @16/1] has running consistently over 6f for trainer George Scott and the last time he was seen over 7f was here in June when third at 25/1, has hovered around the mid 70s mark but the return to this trip could be the key. A winner here back in December last years Andronicus Beau [5th @20/1] has then struggled a bit in the handicap but has now been eased back to that wining mark, big price on offer and worth a second look.
Winner - (6) Good Humor @5/1 [Jack Mitchell].

20:00  Unibet Casino Handicap (Div One)
7f  [Class 6  14 runners]
Runner up on last pair of runs Mister Freeze [6th @15/2] is given another opportunity to gain that overdue win here tonight, the competition isn't that great although he has plenty of places the last win was nearly two years ago now. Royal Guard [11th @11/2] won well at Wolves back in August, having his first run at this track the 3yo trained by Richard Fahey is not of the class of his sire (Holy Roman Emperor) but could well take care of this field.
Winner - (1) Queen of Burgundy @6/4f [R Kingscote].

20:30  Unibet Casino Handicap (Div Two)
7f  [Class 6  13 runners]
The second division of the final contest Tell'em Nowt [3rd @10/3] has yet to win but won't find many easier opportunities outside of selling grade. Improved steadily with each of his last three runs at Chelmsford over 6f this step up in trip ought to be in his favour. Richard Fahey has chances in both divisions, here he will saddle His Pride [5th @17/2] for his own racing club, runner up at Musselburgh two runs back, running on at the finish at big odds, not the strongest of events lightly raced compared to some others here.
Winner - (13) Joli's Legacy @12/1 [Jack Mitchell].

Staked - 14 points.       Returns - 16 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meetingOur winning start to 2021 has returned and we are now back in the black to the tune of +35.805 points to a level stake at SP coming into this week's 26th meeting. Up couple of points tonight, so we will have +37.805 points going into the next meeting on Wednesday.

Lays -- 28/38 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. These continue to go quite well given we are into the final few months of the year, and they are generally very short prices, including another successful fav beaten during the last few meetings. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Got our selection beaten tonight, so that's 29/39 now.
Tonight's Lays;
17:30 - Harb  [6f 2yo Novice Stakes]. Lost 4th @4/1
Kempton Park Racecourse

We will have another midweek floodlit meeting here on Wednesday 20th October so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful 2021.
