KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #25 WEDNESDAY 6th OCTOBER

Kempton Park Twilight Meetings 2021

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse a season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will continue blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Started well this season pleasantly still ahead as we push on through the autumn still in profit and only three months of the season to go. Been to Kew Gardens which was really good seeing places I've not visited before now, AFC Wimbledon had a 1-1 draw with Burton Albion, a poor game with little entertainment to be fair and now a couple of weeks break due to cancelled games during the international fixtures. Will begin to see more regular NH racing soon with the bigger meetings beginning and we will cover the likes of Cheltenham and others later.

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. A successful opening first half of the year during 2021 went a little behind in July but now we are back in front during September and looking okay through into October we've seen the profit for the season rise to +35.805 points despite a poor effort with the last meeting and we will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 27/36 (75%) after another success at the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress during the year ahead.

This week will be our 25th Wednesday evening meeting of the year. Tonight's meeting we shall be expecting an eight race card with five handicaps for us to review with the final handicap contest being divided, we will also include the Conditions event a Class 2 contest due off at 19:00. Therefore our action will now commence at 16:58 with a 2yo novice event over seven furlongs, then we should end the card around about 20:30 with the second division of the final handicap event over six furlongs.

Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cloudy afternoon and early evening with a fair chance of showers in the forecast and a highest expected temperature of around 16C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
18:00  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap
1m 2f 219y  [Class 5  12 runners]
A dual winner at Ffos Las Beowulf [6th @13/2] returns to the all weather on a reasonable handicap mark and Ed Walker's 3yo can strike with Oisin Murphy booked for the ride. Night Eagle [5th @4/1] has crept in at the foot of this handicap, back to back wins at Epsom and Lingfield now has 5lb more to find but with Ryan Moore booked for his father has plenty in his favour tonight.
Winner - (9) Graystone @5/1 [Daniel Muscutt].

18:30  Unibet Casino Deposit 10 Get 40 Bonus Handicap
7f  [Class 3  8 runners]
Mark Johnston's 3yo Bowman [Non Runner] given another chance to show his real form, faded on latest start and that look too bad to be true, yards runners go well down here. Also have an interest in Pinnata [5th @14/1] won here off a higher mark earlier in the year, might not be the most consistent of runners in terms of holding form but very capable on a going day and could be a good price as a result. Not without a chance with the champion jockey booked a big plus.
Winner - (6) Diocles Of Rome @12/1 [Hector Crouch].

19:00  ebfstallions.com Conditions Stakes
6f  [Class 2  6 runners]
In addition to the handicaps we are including this class 2 conditions contest. Just the six runners tonight for this one where Royal Crusade [WON @9/2] can strike for the Charlie Appleby yard who are in good form of late, the Godolphin runner is having his first try on the all weather surface but if he takes to it then should be in the mix. Also going to follow Bahrain Pride [2nd @14/1] who has only four runs in his career so far, two wins though, and this is a step down from the Group 3 he contested last time out where he finished a decent fourth in that company.
Winner - (3) Royal Crusade @9/2 [W Buick].

19:30  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
7f  [Class 4  9 runners]
An experienced 7yo, course and distance winner, Full Intention [4th @22/1] can make the running and races off a similar mark to last time here, was less than a length back in third, expected to go very close again today. Love Dreams [2nd @4/1] also ran well here last time, just failed by a head to win that day, with a talented young jockey assigned tonight certainly worth another shout, having won off higher marks when in the hands of Mark Johnston.
Winner - (1) Paxos @11/8f [Oisin Murphy].

20:00  Racing TV Handicap (Div One)
6f  [Class 6  10 runners]
Enchanted Night [2nd @14/1] and Bama Lama [Non Runner] are our pair of three year olds against the field tonight, the former had changed trainer in the summer leaving James Tate to join Christine Dunnett yard, while the latter the latter has had a couple of wins at this lowly level and should have a good chance of the hat trick this evening if he takes his chance tonight [Bama Lama also ran in the 12:30 Brighton on Tuesday afternoon, finished 3rd there].
Winner - (6) Gherkin @3/1 [Oisin Murphy].

20:30  Racing TV Handicap (Div Two)
6f  [Class 6  11 runners]
The 5yo mare Queen of Burgundy [WON @2/1f] heads the weights here and is given another chance to make use of this drop in class and company, also back in trip too with Neil Callan in the saddle and riding well since his return from Hong Kong. Moonshiner [3rd @11/4] is a 3yo filly stepping up in trip, a winner at Yarmouth, Richard Kingscote takes over from Hollie Doyle tonight, has a few place efforts too alongside that Yarmouth success, wouldn't need to find much to score here.
Winner - (1) Queen Of Burgundy @2/1f [N Callan].

Staked - 12 points.       Returns - 10.5 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meetingOur winning start to 2021 has returned and we are now back in the black to the tune of +35.805 points to a level stake at SP coming into this week's 24th meeting. Small loss tonight despite couple of winners and some big priced places, dropped -1.5 points, so we carry over a +34.305 point profit to our next meeting.

Lays -- 27/36 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. These continue to go quite well given we are approaching the final few months of the year, and they are generally very short prices, including another successful fav beaten during the last few meetings. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. First one got beat at very short odds which was nice, the other was victorious sadly but when both are odds on that will happen.
28/38.
Tonight's Lays;
16:58 - Millennial Moon  [7f 2yo Novice].  LOST 2nd @2/7f
17:30 - At A Pinch  [1m 2f+ 3yo Maiden Fillies].  Won 10/11f
Kempton Park Racecourse

We will have another midweek floodlit meeting here on Wednesday 13th October so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful end to 2021.
