PONTEFRACT SEASON 2021.

Welcome to this our opening meeting of the season held on Tuesday 6th April.

Until further notice race meetings will be run ‘behind closed doors’ with no admittance for the general public. The 2021 racing season at Pontefract kicks off on Easter Tuesday 6th April. Spring is here, the flat season roars back in to action too at Pontefract with a quality race meeting with £60,000+ worth of prize money on offer, the card often throws up some impressive early season types. On the track, it’s the first leg of the 2021 Stayers Championship! Which Ponte favourite will add their name to the roll of honour?  Also on the card is the EBF High-Rise Maiden. With smart early horses from big yards often targeting it, this race is named after Luca Cumani’s 1998 Derby winner who took this race on his way to glory at Epsom.

Of all the races run over the years at Pontefract, the Stayers races evoke the strongest memories among the race going public. With course favourites like Dan Buoy, Jamaican Flight and Bluff Cove all laden with stamina, the Stayers Championship has proved a popular addition to the racing programme in recent seasons.

ALL results for these fixtures are recorded to a level stake at Starting Price (SP), and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures. Here is a link to the afternoon race card.

The forecast going is now currently reported as 'Good [Good to firm in places]' while the weather for Tuesday afternoon is for a generally cloudy day with some chance of showers but hopefully not too much. We are seeing a forecast maximum temperature around the 6C mark as we see in the beginning of the new season here.

We start the 2021 season afresh, at least we appear to be on track to have a full program this time, alas the opening few fixtures will be behind closed door. Results will be updated during the afternoon, a nice start with the opening race winner at 10/1 with more to come too...despite the good start we just about covered ourselves today, two winners and several places today for a tiny profit in meeting one +0.2 points to take onwards to meeting two.

Our second fixture here will be held on Monday 19th April so we do hope you will follow the action here throughout the season.
