KEMPTON PARK RACING 2020 RETURNS WITH MEETING #9 10th JUNE

Wednesday night races at Kempton Park
Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse here for Wednesday night we return to regular action on the all weather flat track under the lights but behind closed doors for the time being. This is the first race here since March but we will keep blogging throughout 2020 till the end of the year, and then we'll also have an extra meeting featuring the King George Chase on Boxing Day.
Racing may have returned and there's a bit of snooker and golf being played, there's a lack of certainty elsewhere. Premier league football is scheduled to return next week, while my side AFC Wimbledon are still waiting on a decision from the Football League. At least we've had good news off the field of play with the confirmation that the final contracts have been signed for the completion of the stadium back on Plough Lane.

Back to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) despite a win in meeting #8 we dropped a few more points overall and are down by a figure of -10.265 points, results are always recorded to SP we will aim to get us back into the black again soon and see further improvement in the results.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 40/54 (74%). We reset the counters for 2020 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently a mixed start with the favourites winning occasionally so we are 7 from 9 after the opening few meetings.

This Wednesday is meeting number nine for the 2020 All Weather season. Tonight we shall be expecting a nine race card which will feature six handicaps for us to review. The action tonight will still commence at 17:00 with a seven furlong maiden event and we should end the card around about 21:00 with our final handicap contest over a mile and three furlong trip the feature race tonight appears to be the 20:00 Class 3 fillies handicap.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD

Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of cloudy weather and it's going to be very cold all day. With a fair chance of some showers too although that won't affect non existence racegoers we expect the temperature to reach no more than around 16C by the time the meeting gets underway.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;

17:30 7f Unibet Thanks The Frontline Workers Handicap
Class 5 12 Runners
The second race on tonight's card and our first handicap where we like the profile of top weight DASHING ROGER [5th 9/2] who was runner up here before winning a Lingfield handicap staying on well to beat Sound Mixer. Also considered here is CLAUDIUS SECUNDUS [7th 11/2] who has only appeared twice before and was runner up on both occasions. Given a fair handicap rating and well bred should be looking to take one of these before moving up in trip.

A multiple winner here SOAR ABOVE [5th 12/1] will have to keep improving to score again but must be on the short list for as long as that improvement appears to exist. His first win came off a mark of 53, last run was his sixth win off 73 and while a current mark of 80 will need another career best it is possible. MARSHALL DAN [Non Runner] takes a step back in trip again although was runner up here last week that run might have blown away any cobwebs and chance taken on another bold run here
.

Class 5  12 Runners
Indeed it has taken CRIMSON KING [6th 11/2] a little while to find that winning feeling once again but do so here fairly well when last seen at this trip and with his jockey's 3lb claim might allow him to repeat the feat again tonight. A recent return to the flat saw GLENDUN [4th 15/2] finish in 3rd over this trip and he's a dual code horse who might well stay on for a place at least, fitness is still going to be taken on trust for a little while.

20:00  6f  Unibet Fillies' Handicap
Class 3  8 Runners
This is tonight's feature contest and with eight runners we hope to have a good win/place bet here. First selection will be FIZZY FEET [4th 6/1] (Tr. David Loughnane) already a multiple winner on the all weather tracks although this is her first visit to Sunbury, has continued her good form as a 4yo and only 3lb higher is still one to take a lot of interest in this season. While am also interested in PENNYWHISTLE [5th 12/1] (Stuart Williams) who will not as prolific is returning to this trip and amongst her own gender would be surprised if the inform Oisin Murphy cannot get her into the first three at the very least.

20:30  6f
Unibet Casino Deposit 10 Get 40 Bonus Handicap
Class 5  10 Runners
Am expecting a big run from HUMAN NATURE [WON 9/2] with the inform Oisin Murphy in the saddle, keeps very busy during the season and likely to take full advantage of this lower handicap mark sooner rather later. INEXES [6th 14/1] is available at a big price around 33/1 but was winning at Leicester / Pontefract last season around this handicap mark and no back marker surely despite a poor show in a higher grade contest here when last seen, given another go to show better form tonight.

21:00  1m 3f 219y
Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap
Class 6  12 Runners
This is not a particularly strong contest and although BIG BORIS [10th 25/1] has only had six races is on a fair handicap mark and might be worth given another go, it's his first appearance around here. While the filly BROWN EYES BLUE [9th 40/1] is taking her time to get the hang of things but could give us a place at a good price too.

Staked -- 12 points.      Returns -- 6.5 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. This season we started afresh and will try hard to stop going well behind but all results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A disappointing start to 2020 was soon put right however after meeting #8 we now carry over a small loss -10.265 overall.

Lays -- 7/9. We had a good season last year with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Got the two fav's beat tonight and now 9/11.

Tonight's Lays;
17:00 -- NIGHT MOMENT  [7f Maiden]  Lost 2nd 3/1f.
18:30 -- MAIDEN CASTLE  [1m 2f+ Maiden] Lost 2nd 9/4f.

The racing schedule is unclear so we'll take the next midweek evening fixture after Royal Ascot for our next meeting, that will mean a rare Tuesday night for us on 23rd June hope you can join us again soon but most importantly remain safe and well.
