We've seen the return of the Premier League and Championship competitions and now it's the turn of the oldest and most famous knockout competition to take centre stage this weekend, the FA Cup had reached it's 1/4 Final stage before the lock down so it's time to finish this off and crown the 2020 FA Cup holders in the coming months. The last eight features an all premier league line up and the games are shared live on TV with two games on BBC and the others on BT Sport. We'll get the weekend underway with the Norwich vs Manchester United tie which will kick off at 17:30 on Saturday.
SATURDAY 27TH JUNE
Norwich City 1 - 2 Manchester United [17:30]
Live on BBC 1 [After extra time 1-1 after 90 mins]
First cup tie live on Saturday night and while Norwich sit at the foot of the Premier League they should be outclassed here whatever Manchester United side that Ole Solskjaer decides to put out. The canaries were simply swept aside on their league return by Southampton, so expecting United to win by two clear goals. Norwich won their last cup game on penalties beating Tottenham, which Manchester United cruised past Derby County 3-0. Man United have beaten Norwich home and away in the league this season already, 3-1 at Carrow Road and a thumping 4-0 at Old Trafford, so we'll look to back both those scores again even though playing games with no fans has shown us it's not going to be anywhere near normal.
Selected Bets - Man United to win 3-1 [12/1] or 4-0 [25/1].
Penalty awarded and scored @3/1.
Result - 1-1 draw in 90 minutes, Harry Maguire won it in the final moments of extra time 1-2 so Manchester United through.
Sheffield United 1 - 2 Arsenal [13:00]
To say Arsenal have been shocking is an understatement and I expect Sheffield United to hammer home their advantage in this cup tie. Not only have Arsenal been losing games they've been losing key players at a regular pace, goalkeeper Bernd Leno injured against Brighton is out for six weeks, with David Luiz serving his ban still so Sheffield United can banish their 3-0 defeat against Newcastle last week and book a semi final place to enhance their already impression season in the Premier League.
Selected Bets - Sheffield United to win @2/1.
Yellow card shown in 1st 15 mins of match @4/1.
Result - Arsenal won it with an injury time winner from Dani Ceballos to go through to the semi finals.
Leicester City 0 - 1 Chelsea [16:00]
A top four battle now which should be interesting to see who wants this most and if they both put out strong teams, hopefully it will be a proper cup tie, Leicester haven't really started back that well with draws against Watford and Brighton but with Jamie Vardy in the attack there's always a chance. Chelsea have beaten Aston Villa and will face Manchester City on Thursday night before this tie. Manager Frank Lampard has praised the role that Christian Pulisic did and we expect he will start in this match he has been involved in a lot of goals even with his limited amount of action this season. Hoping for a good old fashioned cup tie with plenty of action.Selected Bets - Over 1.5 Goals in 1st Half @7/4.
Jamie Vardy 1st Goalscorer @10/3.
Christian Pulisic to score anytime @21/10.
Result - Very poor game with a Ross Barkley goal the difference sending Chelsea into the Semi Finals.
Newcastle United 0 - 2 Manchester City [18:30]
Live on BBC1Big challenge faces Newcastle here, no passionate crowd to get behind them, and a Manchester City team still chasing more trophies even though the league has gone. Positive signs in the recent 3-0 win against Sheffield United and a game against Aston Villa prior to this cup tie. Magpie's striker Joelinton, scored only his second Premier League goal, and his first since August, maybe he'll start getting on the score-sheet regularly now? Manchester City dismantled Burnley 5-0 and will have Chelsea on Thursday night before this tie. Expecting goals, plenty of them, hopefully will not be disappointed with the game featured live on BBC TV.
Selected Bets - Penalty awarded and scored @5/2.
Manchester City to win 3-1 [@9/1] 4-0 [@17/2].
Result - Kevin De Bruyne's penalty in the first half, and Manchester City having about 85% possession, it's a one sided affair with Sterling adding a second shortly after Dwight Gayle missed a sitter for Newcastle.
FA Cup Semi Final Draw;
Arsenal vs Manchester City.
Manchester United vs Chelsea.
The semi-finals will take place at Wembley over the weekend of 18-19 July, with this year's FA Cup Final now scheduled for Saturday 1st August.
