Coming down to the final few months of this annual theme, was hopeful of a more productive second half to the year but we struggling a little. Still time though till we end 2019.
Seen off the Halloween season and now face the continuous banging of fireworks which is not my cup of tea at all nowadays however the last few months action continues here at Kempton and we had a win last time so hopefully that continues this week. Over the weekend we saw England lose 12-32 to South Africa in the rugby world cup final and the football action saw AFC Wimbledon secure a last gasp 1-1 draw against Lincoln City a result that takes us out of the drop zone for a change and leaves the horrible club stealing franchise fc in that place instead, next weekend will be FA Cup action against Doncaster and Sunday was completed with the final round of NFL London games at Wembley where Houston Texans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 26-3.
Has been a very up and down year overall not just with the racing though the last month was encouraging so with the Autumn and Winter months to come we will continue to focus on the all weather horse racing now while the lights still shine brightly here at Kempton Park throughout this year. We are hopeful of better season than we experienced last year but it's just some fun and excitement to mix up the week we have found it hard and are more than a little behind to SP though it's something I will keep persevering with through to the end of the year.
Let us move onward with this our twenty eighth Wednesday night of 2019, and will continue to focus on the handicap contests for each Wednesday evening meeting though we will also occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too if there is one available. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1 point level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds than this but for the purpose of these results here we simply record SP returns only. Following our last meeting the deficit is currently on -52.945 points to SP returns overall. We continue to battle hard to reduce this and thankfully there is still a few months to get this back.
Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we have been fairly successful with our selections so far and last meeting we managed to get another two odds on favourites beat so we are now 33/46 (71.7%+) we will continue with this through 2019.
This Wednesday will be meeting number twenty eight for the 2019 AW season and we are expecting a bumper eight race card tonight during which we expect to have five handicaps to enjoy which should keep us plenty busy enough. The action which will now commence at 16:40 with a 7f handicap contest and tonight's card ends around about 20:10 with our final handicap contest over a shade under 1m 4f.
Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARDHere are our handicap selections for tonight, time is short and too many work meetings so selections only today until later;
16:40 -- 7f Handicap.
Tony Carroll runs SILVERTURNSTOGOLD [3rd 3/1] here and this 4yo has been placed in his last three runs at Brighton off this mark and prior to those runs was runner up here, is given another chance to win with Tom Marquand a good booking. 7yo AIR OF YORK [11th 14/1] was a huge 66/1 winner at Salisbury for trainer Grace Harris earlier in the year and has gradually eased in the weights having also been runner up in a similar contest this time last year.18:40 -- 6f Handicap.
The top weight and 4yo CORINTHIA KNIGHT [4th 16/1] is our opening selection for this good Class 2 event over six furlongs, was regarded good enough to go over to Ireland and contest an all weather Group 3 contest at Dundalk where he finished in third at a good price, this drop down in class brings him into the equation despite top weight. Richard Hannon runs BURIDAN [7th 6/1] who is taking a step up in the other direction but has won two of his last three events including a Newcastle Class 2 last time.
19:10 -- 7f Handicap (3yo).
A three year old contest now, BUCKINGHAM [2nd 5/1] is a multiple winner on the all weather albeit at Chelmsford, is open to a change of scenery having scored at Lingfield too and can give us a win here tonight. Sylvester Kirk runs his 3yo filly IRENE MAY [7th 11/1] has three wins from seven career runs and is one with plenty of interest despite a poor first effort here will allow that and give her one more chance on the surface.
Only a small field of seven where ISLAND BRAVE [3rd 6/1] gets a nod although will need to run up to the winning form they showed at Ayr earlier in the season. KITAABAAT [WON 3/1] is still learning but did enough in a match race beating the odds on favourite in the process, this is more reasonable a contest to determine their future prospects is lightly raced for a four year old too.
20:10 -- 1m 3f 219y Handicap.
Our finale tonight has a maximum field of fourteen headed by DYAGILEV [11th 6/1] who won his first race at the twelfth time of asking, but having done so might be able to repeat it here. The three year old filly RAMATUELLE [9th 25/1] was also a debut winner last time out at Brighton and this contest wouldn't need much winning.
Staked -- 10 points.
Returns -- 4 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. This season we are sadly down by -52.945 points to SP returns. Now only couple more months of the season to go and we will end up with an additional meeting here for the King George Chase on Boxing Day.
LAYS -- 33/46. Got our lay bets beat again last week and we will try to find another one or two successful lay bets this time around and these will show up here later on tonight. Yes 2 more short favourites beaten tonight so we up to 35/48
Tonight's Lays;
17:10 - DUBAI LOVE [1m 2yo Novice] LOST 3rd 15/8f.
17:40 - DEPOSE [7f 2yo Novice Fillies] LOST 6th 5/4f.
