KEMPTON PARK RACES 2017 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #18 12th JULY

Welcome to our eighteenth meeting of 2017 here at Kempton Park and after a losing week last time out we have reached the midway point of the year down a small amount -4.75 points to level stakes at SP. Given that we'd usually take prices and William Hill offer best odds guaranteed I think we'd be further ahead than we are. We'll see how the second half of the year goes.

As always our focus will be on the handicap contests for each meeting but will occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1pt level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds but for the purpose of these results we record to SP.

We will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of short priced favourites too, as always we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures.

This week is our eighteenth meeting for 2017 and we are expecting a seven race card tonight with six handicaps for us to delve into so we will be very busy tonight. This evenings action will commence at 18:10 with a Class 5 Apprentice handicap event over 6f.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card;
EVENING RACECARD

The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast is for plenty of cloud and slim chance of some showers perhaps. A max temperature of about 22C when the meeting gets underway.

Here are our selections for this evenings 6 handicap races
;

17:55 -- 7f Apprentice Handicap.

The opening handicap for apprentice jockeys, will take a chance on couple of previous course winners in SALAH  [7th 4/1] who has a very good jockey on board to help, and SARANGOO  [4th 16/1] who despite being 9yo can still win in this level.

18:25 -- 1m Handicap.
A mile contest next, out of the 14 declared we will take a pair against the field, SECRET GLANCE  [11th 20/1] has a few bits of place form and might be able to take a step forward for Joe Doyle here at 16/1 along with 3yo course and distance winner DANGEROUS ENDS  [WON 13/8F].

18:55 -- 1m Handicap.

Another mile event, a grade higher though and limited to 3yo's where FIENDISH  [6th 12/1] can go well for Mark Johnston even off top weight. Pair that with ROCK N ROLL GLOBAL  [3rd 6/1] who had a place effort here earlier in the season and worth another look in a handicap.

19:55 -- 2m Handicap.
The stayers event next, interesting newcomer to England is LAZIO  [7th 12/1] having campaigned in Ireland last season is now in the care of Jamie Osborne, could be worth a look at 25/1.

The bottom weight SOUTHERN STATES  [5th 6/1] has had a few runs around here and can take another step forward.

20:25 -- 1m 3f Handicap.
Tricky handicap contest now, where BUSH HOUSE  [WON 5/2] would be a nice winner for us with out BBC Connections, winner of a Wolves maiden then campaigned at higher level on flat.

ST MALO  [2nd 5/1] will be our other selection a winner at Newcastle on their AW surface then well supported stepped up to higher grade handicap at York though down the field should find this grade a lot easier.

20:55 -- 6f Handicap.
A sprint finale tonight over 6f with a field of 12 to scan through. Where our two selections against the field are the inform MADAME BOUNTY  [7th 9/2] (wins at Windsor and Newbury) together with HACKNEY ROAD  [2nd 5/2] who won the apprentice handicap last week and has plenty of experience around here.

Staked -- 12 points.
Returns -- 6.125 points.

Results will appear later tonight. Currently we have a deficit of -4.75 points that we bring forward to this round of racing. Just the two winners tonight, and therefore another small loss of -5.875 to go onto our balance, so we have to carry over a deficit of -10.625 points to the next meeting in August.

LAYS -- Another successful fav beaten last week so we now stand at 8 from 11 successful lays. Will update later if there is a selection for tonight.

Short break now and we'll return in a few weeks time for our next meeting here at Kempton Park on Wednesday 9th August.
