2016/2017 LEAGUE ONE SEASON -- OXFORD V AFC WIMBLEDON KO 12:15PM

This Sunday LIVE on Sky Sports 1 AFC Wimbledon travel to Oxford to face 10th place Oxford United in League One.

Oxford had beaten Bolton Wanderers last weekend 2-0 and followed up with a win on penalties against rivals Swindon Town in the FL Trophy midweek. The Dons also turn up in good form having beaten Gillingham 2-0 as well and a good come from behind win against Plymouth 2-1 in midweek which secured their place in the next stage of the FL Trophy with a game to spare.

Oxford are of course our big "bogey" team as we've never beaten them since our reformation (L10, D2) and took us several attempts to even score. That can all end on Sunday of course as the Dons bid to extend their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.

We shall update on Sunday before kick off with the confirmed starting XI for both sides and any further news as it comes available

First Half Comment;

Good start by the home side and possible shout for a penalty too with Wimbledon not looking too steady as well as picking up a couple of early yellow cards. But as the half went on the Dons picked up and a corner was met at the near post by Tom Elliott to put Wimbledon one up.

The second half of the opening 45 mins belonged to Wimbledon and was no surprise that we not only went two up but created that killer third on the stroke of half time. Surely this means we will finally beat Oxford United.

F/T Score – 1 - 3

Match Summary;

Not surprised that Oxford came out in the second half with a rocket up their backside and immediately created chances one cross being turned into his own net by Darius Charles for 1-3.

But the Wombles dug in and weathered that storm and took control during the second half managing to see the game out with no further damage and no red cards either.

Overall a very very satisfying weekend now sitting in 10th in League One.

My Man of the Match – Darius Charles.

Referee -- Our Referee for this weekends game at the Kassam Stadium is our old friend
Darren 'Womble killer' Deadman. (He had a cracking game, thanks Deadly)

A Football League referee since 2005. Works as a Civil Servant in Peterborough, which really is the perfect cover for the Evil One and we have lost 5 of the 8 he's reffed. Mind you, our record against Bogey Team Oxford as AFC is P10, W0 D2 L8, and as WFC it's P13, W3 D2 L8 - our last D3 meeting was a 2-0 defeat at the Manor Ground in Feb '84 - so whichever way you look at it, we are truly up against it on Sunday.

However we do well on TV Games as I recall our last TV appearance being a certain 2-0 drubbing of Plymouth at Wombley.

Attendance – 7,742.
