19:10 - 1m 1f 103yds Handicap - OFF THE PULSE [4th 25/1].

KEMPTON PARK - KING GEORGE DAY - FRIDAY 26th DECEMBER 2014
Since our regular flat racing features are disrupted by Christmas this week we will do a one off special over the jumps for the big Boxing Day meeting at Kempton Park.
Used to attend the Sunbury venue in the days of Dessert Orchid and enjoyed the variety of seeing raiders from Ireland and France tackle the top chasers from these shores, it feels like a long time since we've seen a decent French challenge? M. Douman, M. Macaire where are you ... where are your modern day counterparts?
The meeting on Friday will get underway at 12:50, a 6 race card which will include the Feltham Novices Chase and the Christmas Hurdle as well as the big race itself which is scheduled for 15:10. The declarations for which will not be finalised until Christmas itself so my update for the card will appear here after the Queen's speech and the Bond film!!
Boxing Day Selections;
12:50 - 2m Novice Hurdle
Newcomer ZIP TOP to defy the top pair of JOLLYALLAN and SEMPRE MEDICI.
13:25 - 2m 4f Handicap Chase
An open handicap event and we will aim to have KATGORY and QUITE BY CHANCE as our pair against the field.
14:00 - 3m Novices Chase (Feltham Chase)
Shame there's only the 7 declared for this as WARDEN HILL looks overpriced at 25/1 for Mick Channon and AP McCoy, you won't see the champion jockey on too many long price horses like this. I expect the odds on fav Saphir du Rheu to be my lay of the day.
14:35 - 2m Hurdle (Christmas Hurdle)
Be surprised if Faugheen is turned over here though but maybe it's McCoy again on PURPLE BAY at 16/1 the value call.
15:10 - 3m King George VI Chase
There might be a decent field here but looking through the ten declared runners I can't see anything that will definitely stay 3m at a strong pace, EXCEPT for SILVINIACO CONTI. Last years winner too good for the likes of Cue Card, Wishful Thinking and Menorah though I can see the last named being placed.
15:45 - 2m 5f Handicap Hurdle
Can't complete a meeting without a winner from the Henderson yard and his THEINVAL looks a good option in the finale, has won here before goes up in trip and priced about 8/1 looks generous. Open race as you'd expect and maybe FOXTAIL HILL is a decent price win/place option for the Twiston-Davies yard.
Have a wonderful Christmas.

KEMPTON PARK WEDNESDAY EVENING FIXTURE -- 17th DECEMBER 2014
Off we go to Kempton Park for our regular midweek racing fix, it's the last one before Xmas next week so lets pick the bookies pockets to pay for all that over indulgence we'll be doing;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/17-12-2014/fast-cards
Tonight sees a 7 race card beginning at 16:05 with a selling race and our first Handicap contest will get underway at 17:10. We have 4 Handicaps for us tonight so get your thermals on and don't forget your scarf n gloves this time.
17:10 7f Handicap -- HONEYMOON EXPRESS, has done nearly all her racing at Yarmouth, and has placed form there albeit last year, hopeful that the switch to an AW course and racing against her own kind will help but still a big outsider on paper. [Forecast odds 33/1] [11th 50/1]
17:40 6f Handicap -- ITALIAN TOM, won here over 6f in summer, off 3lb higher so could be time to score again. Is a winner of 13 of his 82 races with a record that shows an overall PROFIT to level stake at SP of +38.28 - so when he does win it's worth the wait. [Forecast odds 16/1] [10th 20/1]
18:40 1m Handicap [3yo+] -- SENSIBLE WAY, just had the three races, won over 1m at Goodwood on second start, and only had one further race since then in June, off the same mark today the switch to AW plus the strong possibility that she's improved at home makes this a strong selection.
Trained by Richard Hannon, could be the dark horse here, take best early price can see this one being well supported. [Forecast odds 14/1] [4th 20/1]
Trained by Richard Hannon, could be the dark horse here, take best early price can see this one being well supported. [Forecast odds 14/1] [4th 20/1]
19:10 2m Handicap [3yo+] -- NOOR AL HAYA, has been hurdling but back on the flat now, was successful for this 7lb claiming jockey [Charlotte Jenner] at Bath and placed several times for her too, so positive signs with the partnership rekindled again if taking to the AW surface [had a go here back in 2013, was blocked when making a run so given another chance]. Trip no problem. [Forecast odds 16/1] [6th 14/1]
Results will go up later on Wednesday night.

18:15 - 5f 216yds Handicap - MONEY TEAM [3rd 17/2]

19:15 - 5f 216yds Handicap [Div II] - MEY BLOSSOM, [10th 33/1].
19:45 - 1m 1f 103yds Handicap - SPES NOSTRA, [2nd 8/1].

KEMPTON PARK WEDNESDAY EVENING FIXTURE -- WED 10th DECEMBER 2014
Brr it's another cold Wednesday again so wrap up warm and don't forget your hip flask as we pop off to Kempton Park for our regular midweek racing fix;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/10-12-2014/fast-cards
Tonight sees a 7 race card beginning at 15:40 with our first Handicap contest. There are only 3 Handicaps for us tonight as the card is dominated by maiden events.
Put your thermals on and don't forget your scarf n gloves.
15:40 7f Handicap [3yo only] -- NAVAJO DREAM, finished 4th in an apprentice event here last month, same jockey booked today and only beaten a length overall. Forecast odds 20/1 will give then another chance off bottom weight here. [7th 16/1]
18:20 1m 3f Handicap -- CHAPTER AND VERSE, winner at Leicester earlier in the campaign and tried over the AW at Wolves last time out staying on the take 4th. Is a big price for this, might be able to take the leap up in trip on a different type of AW surface, hence 33/1 forecast odds. [10th 50/1]
18:50 2m Handicap -- PURPLE SPECTRUM, finished 2nd at Newmarket on only try at this trip, and has won his maiden over 1m 2f before taking a race at Sandown over 1m 6f so 2m should be well within his compass. Stayed on strongly at the Esher track and going away to win by 3 1/2L is forecast to go off about 20/1 which seems generous though it's 6/1 the field so wide open event. [2nd 25/1]
Results will appear here on Wednesday evening, and our next meeting is on Saturday from Wolverhampton.

WOLVERHAMPTON SATURDAY EVENING FIXTURE - 6th DECEMBER
Looking ahead to the regular Saturday evening fixture at Wolverhampton.
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/wolverhampton/06-12-2014/fast-cards
Tonight's 7 race card gets underway with our first handicap contest over 7f at 18:15. We have 4 handicaps to look through ;
18:15 - 7f 32yds Handicap - SPELLMAKER has the inside stall to help get a good position and a few bits of placed form [3rd at Bath last time] might be time to strike at forecast 20/1 odds worth a look at least to place. Non Runner
19:45 - 2m 119yds Handicap - DUKES DEN. Small field for the marathon handicap contest selection has done nearly all his racing on AW surfaces to date, going off big prices and now gets a chance in a handicap. WON 8/1
Yorkshireman definitely stays and will go off Fav, Royal Trooper will be a danger to him if getting the extra trip, but we'll go for the one at the bigger odds.
20:15 - 1m 6f Handicap - COOL SKY is the pick in another small field but competitive staying handicap. Godolphin have the fav in Personal Opinion but I don't see many of there's going in multiple times over the winter usually one is enough. David Pipe has an interesting horse with Unaminite who has contested hurdle events at Cheltenham and Aintree so is highly thought off but was beaten at odds on at the latter venue.
COOL SKY has 7 wins from 30 runs and an overall win profit of +11.75 to a level stake, the % call is with him with a good win/place strike rate too the 16/1 on offer would be even stronger if there weren't just the 7 runners. 4th 10/1
20:45 - 1m 1f Handicap - STEEL STOCKHOLDER this selection is based on an assumption that the change of jockey will bring about some level of improvement, has small bits and pieces of placed form from much higher in the weights and when last off this mark did win and place (albeit 2 years ago ... I did say it was only an assumption) WON 25/1
Well what a night, 2 great winners and one close miss, another 32+ points profit at SP and much better returns on the exchanges -- our next event is next Wednesday at Kempton Park. Hope you enjoying a great weekend.
Tuesday 2 December 2014
KEMPTON PARK WEDNESDAY EVENING FIXTURE -- WED 3rd DECEMBER 2014
It's Wednesday again so quickly off we trot to Kempton Park for our regular midweek venue;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/03-12-2014/fast-cards
Sticking with the Handicaps tonight and it's a feast this week with the last 5 races all falling to our grasps, we've three to look at again across this eight race card which will get under-way with another maiden event at 3.50, our first handicap event is at 5.20 running through to the end of the card at 7.20.
5.20 1m 4f (Div I) -- LITTLE RED NELL, lightly raced mare would have found the trip and track difficult at Brighton last time, been off 200+ days, has AW form albeit not exceptional. Hence the 40/1 forecast odds [9th 66/1]
5.50 1m 4f (Div II) -- GLOS LAST, forecast was about 20/1 but seems to be the market leader at 7/2? Too short for me in this thread, must have shown plenty at home to warrant that level of interest. [WON 15/8!!]
6.20 1m 3f -- TOP DIKTAT, winner of 4 in a row earlier in season it's likely the handicapper is in control now. But it's a small field and he has won over this trip though tailed off last time as if something amiss, can't have been injured if out again so soon. Given one more chance. Outsider of 6 at 20/1
6.50 7f -- MORNA'S GLORY, Only the three runs this year, has bits of better form when seen couple of seasons ago, leap of faith that she's still got some ability for new trainer, huge price 66/1 chance taken that AW helps rekindle an effort. [7th 100/1]
7.20 6f -- SWENDAB, beaten 10l on last outing here under same claiming jockey, faith in this veteran of 50+ races that was their 1st go on the AW for over a year and can pop up at decent odds (winner of 7 events, placed in 9 others so near 30% record of reaching the frame)
Has been placed regularly off this sort of handicap mark so Forecast odds 40/1 are appealing while rated in the low 60's or less. [11th 33/1] Not our day today.
Update again on Wednesday evening, have a good night and wrap up warm.
Thursday 27 November 2014
WOLVERHAMPTON SATURDAY EVENING FIXTURE - 29th NOVEMBER
Looking ahead to the regular Saturday evening fixture at Wolverhampton.
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/wolverhampton/29-11-2014/fast-cards
We are only interested in viewing the handicap contests and this weekend we are blessed with 6 Handicaps and just the 2 maiden events on the card.
The 8 race card gets underway with a 5f maiden at 17:45 and our first handicap race is off at 18:15 over an extended mile the concluding handicap has been divided into two divisions hence the change to the original timings;
18:15 - 1m 141yds Handicap - Tricky contest and taking a big chance on Luca Cumani's SLEEPER KING. Only having his 2nd outing for his new yard, might find the step up in trip helps and the AW more suited to this Holy Roman Emperor colt. [Non Runner]
18:45 - 7f 32yds Handicap - A very compressed handicap with only 5lb separating the 12 declared runners.
Top weight KOHARA struggled under an apprentice last time out but now as Steve Drowne which should make a bit of difference over this trip, at 20/1 that looks worth a shout. [5th 33/1]
19:45 - 1m 4f 50yds Handicap - A winner of 10 races in Ireland over both Hurdles and on the flat the 10 year old ALADDINS CAVE is the selection at odds of 20/1 in this field of 8 runners. [4th 50/1]
20:15 - 1m 4f 50yds Handicap - Not much racing form on the new surface here still so a chance is taken on the only recent winner in the field which is THANE OF CAWDOR who took a race a Kempton a couple of races back. Gets the trip ok and is reasonably weighted so 12/1 outside on the forecast odds must be snapped up. [3rd 14/1]
20:45 - 1m 1f 103yds Handicap - Division one of the concluding handicap and a field of 13 declared, LORD OF THE STORM might not win often but is up to this sort of company and does regularly get placed, is lightly raced for a 6yo on the flat too (only 25 runs) [4th 25/1]
21:15 - 1m 1f 103yds Handicap - Division two also has 13 declared runners, going with two here against the field as I like to think that MY NEW ANGEL can run better here than in the apprentice race she contested on her last visit two months ago. [7th 33/1]
Taking a big leap of faith with PERCYS PRINCESS who has only had the 5 career runs but with recent advances in trip has seem some improvement. Was beaten 4 lengths last time over furlong shorter at 100/1 might (just might!!) be getting the hang of this now and worth a go at a big price.
WTF -- 4th 5/2F? based on his runs to date that was an incredible price even though they lost. Never expected that.
Have a great weekend everyone and results will be updated later during the evening.

KEMPTON PARK WEDNESDAY EVENING FIXTURE -- WED 26 NOVEMBER 2014
It's Wednesday again and still feels like only a week ago since the last one, Kempton Park is our regular midweek venue;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/26-11-2014/fast-cards
Sticking with the Handicaps tonight and we've three to look at again on an eight race card which will get under-way with one of a number of maiden events at 4.15, our first handicap event is at 4.45 racing over 1m 2f.
4.45 1m 2f -- Fairly uninspiring event, am giving one last chance to the bottom weight EVACUSAVE LADY [4th 25/1 was 40s] who's now priced at 33/1 here though won 3 in a row not that long back and went up sharply in the weights as a result. Slight ease in grade and good jockey on board at the price seems worth a risk. [Good run all things considered.]
7.15 6f -- 12 declared here with Major Jack and Steelriver the market principles but I like the look of DUNGANNON at 25/1 having raced at this level and won a couple of races last month at Ascot and Doncaster, was also thought well enough of to have a period out racing in Dubai too. Shouldn't be dismissed here with his apprentice taking 5lb off too -- has ridden him before as well which is a plus. [10th 16/1 poor]
7.45 1m -- The finale is an Apprentice Handicap over the mile course here, TAMUJIN wouldn't be an obvious pick but has a squeak on couple of runs, to place that is, at 25/1 has only run 6 times this year, probably found the heavy ground and 11f at Brighton a bit too much last time out this seems a better alternative, flat, 1m, safe AW surface, decent apprentice on board. [10th 25/1 always rear, not good bad choice by me]
Place chance at least and has plenty of AW experience having raced in Ireland at Dundalk last year.
Not as good as it turned out, never mind this will happen when you chance a big price selection as we will continue to do over the winter.

A very welcome day off work this Friday and off to Ascot racing for one of their low key National Hunt cards.
Racing starts at 1pm with a 6 race card concluding at 3.50pm with a handicap hurdle that will almost certainly be run in in the dark !
Forecast rain during the day but ground should remain Good to Soft.
Selection as follows;
1.00 -- SCORPIANCER [5th 8/1] (res - Heated Debate)
1.30 -- THE SKYFARMER [5th 9/4] (res - Puffin Billy)
2.05 -- CLONDAW BANKER [3rd Evens] (res - Jebril)
2.40 -- RUM AND BUTTER [6th 14/1] (res - Fairy Rath)
3.15 -- GRANDADS HORSE WON 10/1 (res - Imperial Circus)
3.50 -- SWEET DEAL [2nd 13/8] (res - Starluck)
Just the one winner today but 10/1 means we turn a profit all the same, have not had time to update Saturday's evening card so will resume next week when I'm better. Have a great weekend.

Just the one winner today but 10/1 means we turn a profit all the same, have not had time to update Saturday's evening card so will resume next week when I'm better. Have a great weekend.

KEMPTON PARK AW MEETING WEDNESDAY 19th NOVEMBER
It's Wednesday once again it feels like a week ago since the last one, Kempton Park is our regular midweek venue;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/19-11-2014/fast-cards
Sticking with the Handicaps tonight and we've three to look at which get under-way with the 3.50 race over 1m 2f.
3.50 1m 2f -- Andrew Balding has his yard in good order at the back end of the season and his 3yo Gelding THANKS HARRY [5th 6/1] has had a break and comes into this fresh looks a tempting price too about 10's.
We also like the chances of GRACIOUS GEORGE [4th 20/1] who's been sent up in trip and down in grade of late now back on the AW could show some improvement and at 14/1 worth a shout too.
6.55 2m -- Disappointing field with just the 6 declared. DESERT SNOW from Godolphin looks the likely favourite and should oblige, whereas CHILBERTA KING has been running in the big long distance handicaps and should appreciate this easier grade though top weight makes it difficult.
7.25 1m 4f -- Bit more competitive here with 14 declared and seems that the handicapper has caught up with MEETINGS MAN now and his run of form stopped abruptly last time out. Could benefit from a rest now and options are elsewhere.
LATIN CHARM won a handicap on heavy ground at Windsor last month and while the ground is completely different should go well again stepped up in trip. ZIPP could probably do with further than this and might be found wanting at the finish so we side with INVESTISSEMENT.
Will update results later on in the evening, and we've an additional meeting this week as we're off to Ascot for a NH card on Friday.

WOLVERHAMPTON SATURDAY EVENING 15th NOVEMBER
Checking out the handicaps from the Saturday evening fixture at Wolverhampton. Our plan this winter is to keep ticking over on the AW action on Wednesday evenings at Kempton Park and the Saturday evenings at Wolves.
With 4 maiden events and 2 nurseries we've only 2 handicap contests to have a look through for tonight, so we are going to include the 2yo Handicaps too this time and see if we can find some interesting each way selections rather than focusing on the obvious favs.
As one of the maiden contests has been split to 2 divisions our first handicap is the opening race at 5:45 over 5f;
17:45 - 5f Handicap, top weight WEST COAST DREAM [7th] and the bottom one KODAFINE [9th] are the two for me, top one a recent winner and back on AW should cope with most of these and looks good at 8/1. The bottom one gets so much weight must be worth a go and I'll aim to dutch the pair against the field for an early result tonight.
18:15 - 6f Nursery, Not many here tonight preference is for Henry Candy's dual winner SON OF AFRICA.Wins at Windsor and Goodwood this is his first venture on the AW but you would expect him to be well schooled on the surface at home.
19:45 - 1m+ Nursery, lively short priced fav with Godolphin's WINTER QUEEN [WON 6/4]. Am taking a punt by opposing that one with VITA MINA [7th 25/1] who sprang something of a surprise at Chepstow in September but ran two poor races since albeit on ground that might not have been suitable. Gets a sound surface here and 20/1 looks worth a go for the place money.
21:15 - 1m+ Handicap, we end with a 13 runner handicap and nothing really appeals, the top weight AD VITAM [10th] has at least won recently and could go in again off 4lb higher even though it's a step up in trip should be in his compass.
Perhaps the bottom one OAK BLUFFS [WON 12/1] can put the large chunks of weight to their advantage on their first try on AW.
Another successful evening with the 12/1 winner in the last guaranteeing another profit. Next update will be from Kempton Park on Wednesday night.

KEMPTON PARK AW MEETING WEDNESDAY 12th NOVEMBER
Wednesday night comes around again and hopefully we can keep our wonderful winning record going though finding another 33/1 winner like Delagoa Bay last week will be tricky but we like a challange.
We've had all the fireworks, and we've paid our respects to the hero's of WW1 so tonight could be a little quiet, all the same we do need some money for Xmas shopping so here we go;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/12-11-2014/fast-cards
Sticking with the Handicaps here and things get underway with the 4.20 race over 5f.
4.20 5f -- Going to give Pat Eddery's charge TWILIGHT ANGEL [N/R] another go over 5f, latest effort was over 7f and clearly didn't get that, his horses do usually go well here and at 14/1 forecast worth a punt in a tight class 7 handicap.
4.50 5f -- Up a few levels now for a Class 3 contest again over the min trip. CAPTAIN SECRET didn't get the 6f trip last time and back to 5f looks likely to get back to winning ways. The others don't look in great form and if BOOM THE GROOM [2nd 11/1] can settle better in the preliminaries his 12/1 looks interesting back on the AW having blown his chance early at Newmarket recently.
7.50 1m 3f -- 14 declared for this contest, Mary Le Bow only held on at Wolves last time and has 2f more to cope with so looks opposable tonight, Classic Mission is looking expensive to follow with a string of "2's" beside his name - [2nd yet again!!] and I do fancy MCBIRNEY [4th 6/4] if he can repeat his last run to go close off a similar mark. Poor result
Good luck tonight, we'll have some results posted up later on.
Next update will be from Wolverhampton on Saturday.

KEMPTON PARK AW MEETING WEDNESDAY 5th NOVEMBER 2014
Wednesday night comes around again and it might be dark and cold out but at least the lights are on and the hip flask is full (for the moment).
As usual we are only looking at the handicaps here tonight and there are only three for us to savour, let's crack on then...
Handicaps tonight;
4.35 -- The 2m contest see's MAY HAY as a likely fav off top weight, made a good go of things over distance last time and should be right up there at the end. DELAGOA BAY [WON 33/1] wasn't far off either last time out and at 10/1 represents better value especially in receipt of a stone in weight from the fav.
7.40 -- Godolphin don't run that many on the AW and their MUSADDAS [WON 9/2] has been around here finishing in the frame a few times, had to go to Thirsk to land his maiden. Might well be placed again but at the price doesn't appeal that much. Do like to follow Jamie Osborne's yard and they should have been awarded last Saturday's Breeders Cup Classic ... this isn't much compensation but OUTER SPACE [4th 14/1] at 16/1 looks a decent shout.
8.10 -- The finale has a lot of horses that might have had enough this year and cold do with a break, the pair that bucks this stat are the Pat Eddery trained REIMPOSE [2nd 14/1] and the Tony Carroll trained SAN QUENTIN [WON 4/1]. Both trading about 8/1 so will dutch the pair against the field.
Well that race couldn't have gone much better for us 1st and 2nd plus a forecast which paid £53.51 too !
What a night under the lights 33/1 winner, 4/1 winner, places and forecasts too. It's well worth checking these winter handicaps and long may it continue to thrive.
Saturday 1 November 2014
BREEDERS CUP MEETING SANTA ANITA SATURDAY 1st NOVEMBER 2014
Just going to go through the big races on Day 2 of this years Breeders Cup meeting which is being held at Santa Anita.
And YES I know there are races on Friday as well but since most at handicaps and lesser contests (albeit with excellent prize money on offer) I am not really interested. It's all about Saturday and the build up to the Breeders Cup Classic which has a prize pot of $5m.
The post times I have are approximate, and Uk time, the live broadcasters will be ATR and Racing Uk, I hark back to the old days when it was on Channel 4 but alas nothing this year.
Your alternative solution to watching the big races will be via a bookmaker such as Betfair, William Hill or Paddy Power, have a bet with them and watch it streamed on your PC. It's a delayed feed of course, but you'll get to see if your horse runs well or not.
So here we go with Saturdays 9 Grade 1 events which will get underway with race no 4 about 7.05pm the 2yo Juvenile Fillies Grade 1 contest;
19.05 -- [2yo Juvenile Fillies, 1m 110yds]
The previous course and distance winner ANGELA RENEE is the preference over stablemate Feathered and the unbeaten Christina's Journey.
19.43 -- [Filly and Mare Turf, 1m 2f]
Last year's winner DANK comes here looking to repeat her success and has only had 2 runs in Europe at G1 level so is fresh and should be ready to go. Should go off a fairly short price so something at a higher level with an EW chance is Irish Mission who is consistent and as big as 33/1 here.
20.21 -- [Filly and Mare Sprint, 7f]
BETTER LUCKY is a decent EW shout having been running in regular G1 races and usually up there at the finish. Won at this time last year at the top level and Godolphin usually have a few to pick from so 14/1 does look value.
Both Living The Life and Leigh Court have plenty of wins recently but they are at G2/G3 level or lower and their odds are perhaps lower than they should be though could step up.
21.05 -- [Turf Sprint, 6f 110yds]
The Royal Ascot winner NO NAY NEVER should be popular to go in again on grass here with main rival Free as a bird a non runner.
Stablemate UNDRAFTED might be the danger.
21.43 -- [2yo Juvenile, 1m 110yds]
Of the three unbeaten colts, Daredevil / Souper Colossal and CARPE DIEM the latter has the form to "seize the day".
Won by a long way latest, and has top jockey on board again. Should be a cracking race if they are all to the fore down the straight.
22.22 -- [Turf, 1m 4f]
European trainers usually go well here, Aiden O'Brien won this last year with Magician and while he is not going to start tonight his stablemate Chicquita can go well at a price.
Telescope and Brown Panther have had excellent seasons but may have to give way to FLINTSHIRE from France, ran a cracker to take second in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
23.01 -- [Sprint, 6f]
Bob Baffert has a couple here with excellent chances including last years winner SECRET CIRCLE who will benefit from recent outting to be spot on for his defence.
Stablemate INDIANAPOLIS is unbeaten and steps up in grade but you'd expect he's considered good enough by his top class trainer.
BAKKEN can go well at decent odds under Gary Stevens.
23.40 -- [Mile, 1m]
The Breeders Cup Mile is another event that Europe have done very well in of late, and Richard Hannon has a strong claim for this with TORONADO who has conquered some of these on home soil already and if 100% will take the world of beating.
The main challenge may well come from France and ANODIN & VEDA could take advantage if the fav is not able to dominate.
00.35 -- [Classic, 1m 2f]
Hopefully you are still awake after a busy night as it's now Sunday morning.
The Classic is a race that has in the past been targeted by the big guns from UK, Ireland and France this year only has one horse Toast of New York from Jamie Osborne's yard to stand up against the might of the USA team. Not sure why that would be with $5m on offer and even Godolphin only have Footbridge to rely on and he's a 33/1 outsider.
Unbeaten in seven events including three Grade 1's SHARED BELIEF comes into the race with the best form and is a worthy fav. The lightly raced CIGAR STREET could also go well at a decent price if you don't like the short odds on offer.
So enjoy the best racing this weekend has to offer, once this is done it's NH Jumping all the way and that only gets interesting in March so it'll be quiet till then.
Result to be here during the evening / Sunday.
Have a great weekend

KEMPTON PARK AW MEETING WEDNESDAY 29th OCTOBER 2014
Looking ahead to the midweek card at Kempton Park we've a bumper 8 races to enjoy and 6 Handicaps which will begin early at 4.55pm.
Under the lights in Sunbury is still a popular attraction and the opening 1m 2f event has been split into two divisions.
4.55 -- Always Resolute 5th / Snow Conditions 4th
5.25 -- Bowsers Bold 7th / Aldo W/D
6.55 -- Cool Bahamian WON 8/1 / Birdman 11th
7.25 -- Chapter and Verse 8th / Yojojo 6th
7.55 -- The Yank NR / Awesome Rock 6th
8.25 -- Fair Ranger 10th / Club House 9th
Results will be updated in the evening, and don't forget that next weekend [Sat 8th Nov] is the popular Kempton Fireworks night which is organised by the Staines Round Table and other local groups.

WOLVERHAMPTON SAT EVENING 25th OCTOBER
Checking out the handicaps from the Saturday evening fixture at Wolverhampton. Our plan this winter is to keep ticking over on the AW action on Wednesday evenings at Kempton Park and the Saturday evenings at Wolves.
We've 4 handicap contests to have a look through for tonight, and as usual we are looking to find some interesting each way selections rather than focusing on the obvious favs.
Our first handicap is at 6.45 over 7f
Godolphin have a runner here with Pretend and the 3yo will probably go off favourite, but I'm looking at EXPOSE [9th 14/1] who had couple of good wins at Ayr and Doncaster and a repeat of either of those should be good enough is 14/1.
7.45 - Just the seven declared here for the 5f sprint, Bush Beauty picked up a win in an apprentice handicap and has top weight for this, which suggests this isn't the strongest race you'll see. DYNAMO WALT ran well last time in a big field, and should appreciate this company more, they all seem closely matched and the market will be a good guide if one has a stronger chance.
8.15 - Star Anise is the obvious one here going for a hat-trick of wins at Wolves off a 5lb higher mark. So a chance is taken with BOWBERRY [2nd 16/1] who clipped heels and unseated last time out and has struggled a bit in maidens, this low key handicap might be a better bet for a place if the fav prevails.
8.45 - Probably another fav with EVACUSAFE LADY [4th 7/2] looking good with a 5lb rise for yet another win here, seems to be in great form and the rest aren't up to much unless the Godolphin filly Tayma improves on her handicap debut.
Results to be updated on Saturday evening.

KEMPTON PARK AW MEETING WEDNESDAY 22nd OCTOBER 2014
A run of the mill evening 8 race appears before us for Wednesday and we've got 3 Maiden contests, a 2yo Nursery, a classified race and 3 handicaps to enjoy.
Not a big fan of betting on the end of season maidens you will get a lot of false results with big improvements in form as horses begin to tire / mature later as Autumn descends.
For the purpose of this update we will only look at the Handicaps and try and find ourselves the odd winner amongst them. (unless there is something running in one of the other races that screams out to be supported).
5.55 Kempton Park 1m 2f
14 line up for this 10f handicap contest, looks wide open with no recent winners in the field I feel an outsider will spring a surprise tonight.
Hidden Asset has been running recently on Wolves new tapeta surface and is overlooked for that reason, Mercury Music also ran well there a few weeks back and is in good heart but we side with Warbond [9th 16/1] and Claude Greenwood [3rd 20/1] who both trade about 16/1 both up in trip, the former a course winner, the latter didn't like the heavy going at Brighton and will find this much more suitable.
7.55 Kempton Park 1m
For a horse to have so many 1111s next to his name it's unusual not to see It's Only Business at the head of the market, apparently was reported lame after a recent win over hurdles and it must be taken on trust his well-being tonight, is currently on offer at 33/1.
NATHR [4th 4/1] should be competitive off this mark which is the same as his maiden win a few weeks ago, Paul Hanagan comes down from Newmarket this afternoon to ride, probably his best chance from his three rides tonight.
8.55 Kempton Park 7f
EXCHEQUER [6th 15/8] is clearly the first to be interested in having a record of 2 wins from 2 starts at Kempton and with a decent 3lb claimer (Cam Hardie) on board is in good form and well deserved favourite in this field.
At longer odds REPETITION [12th 25/1] has been tried in better company than this at York and Chester and might find the drop in grade helps.

PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2014 TURF SEASON -- PART SIXTEEN
PONTEFRACT SEASON 2014
[Monday 20th October]
THE FINALE
This is our sixteenth and final meeting of the season from Pontefract, and we'll be praying for an awesome finish to another season which promised so much in the early months but has sadly gone into free-fall though thankfully it hasn't actually going down in flames.
The system peaked at +31 points in June so slightly disappointed that it's down to a fraction over break even as we go into the final meeting. Though that was to 1pt level stakes at SP and it should have been possible to beat that plus use the place markets to effect, which is something we will look into next season.
Our strategy will still keep records to the SP result, but we will look into taking advised prices, and a staking plan on the place market as well and these will be recorded separately over the course of the 2015 season.
So lets have a look at the final meeting of the 2014 Season, once again it's an eight race card which will start at 2.10pm. The Going reports and weather should be available over the weekend and will be updated here.
2.10 -- DARK WAVE [WON 4/1], SERAFFIMO [5th 100/1]
2.40 -- ILLUMINATION [11th 33/1], POPPY IN THE WIND [5th 12/1]
3.10 -- COME ON DAVE [4th 11/1], CHEWOREE [15th 7/1]
3.40 -- POWER PLAY [6th 5/1], TEOFILO'S PRINCESS [2nd 14/1]
4.10 -- GALUPPI [2nd 10/11], WISKEE LIL [8th 33/1]
4.40 -- MADAM LILIBET [WON 7/1], BALBONI [N/R]
5.10 -- BUREAU [5th 7/2], ARDMAY [3rd 9/2]
5.40 -- ESCAPE TO GLORY [6th 16/1], BARREN BROOK [3rd 4/1]
The days feature race is at 3.40, it's 1m listed contest for 2YO only formally known as the "EBF Totepool Silver Tankard Stakes" and of the 8 declared runners we fancy the Richard Hannon trained POWER PLAY to come out on top buoyed by his drawing the No.1 stall, will be equally pleased if Teofilo's Princess wins as she is drawn in stall 2. (She was placed 2nd 14/1 from 20s)
That is all for 2014 from Pontefract, we will be back with more next season, for the rest of this year the blog will look at NH meetings on the weekend and the Wed / Sat night meetings on the AW.
A break even day and that's us for the season. Not bad though we didn't lose and I believe we can push on next year. Have fun.

Have fun.

PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2014 TURF SEASON -- PART FIFTEEN
PONTEFRACT SEASON 2014
[Monday 6th October]
This is our fifteenth meeting of the season from Pontefract, and we'll be praying for an awesome finish to the season.
Personally I shall be making my way back from Paris as I am attending the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe meeting on Sunday.
Paris or Yorkshire ... I'm sure they are both great, though I bet you can't get a decent Sunday roast in Paris though !!! [Yorkshire 'n Gravy ... but I digress]
Overall the season has been going well and while not spectacular it peaked early and after that we have been levelling off a bit. It's still been a system that has potential and thus far we are more than satisfied with our current standing still showing an overall profit [albeit a diminishing one] of +1.28 points to a 1 point level unit stake at SP.
Monday's 7-race card will start at 2.10;
2.10 -- EGMONT [8th 100/1], BIG BAD JACK [11th 25/1]
2.40 -- ARTHUR MARTINLEAKE [3rd 7/4], USE YOUR FILBERT [N/R]
3.10 -- MOOHAARIB [WON 3/1], POTENT EMBRACE [6th 9/2]
3.40 -- BRIGHT ABBEY [N/R], HELL HATH NO FURY [4th 33/1]
4.10 -- RANGI CHASE [WON 5/1], MR McLAREN [3rd 2/1]
4.40 -- MISTER UNO [11th 12/1], LUCKY JIM [6th 6/1]
5.10 -- WISKEE LIL [], ISABELLA BIRD [N/R]
Results will appear here later on Monday afternoon depending what time I get back and how much champagne I had the day before.
The FINAL 2014 race meeting from Pontefract will take place on Monday 20th October.
Down 1 point today after only a couple of winners, we head towards the final meeting of the season almost level for the season so it will be the make or break meeting of the year.

PONTEFRACT HORSE RACING SYSTEM -- 2014 TURF SEASON -- PART FOURTEEN
PONTEFRACT SEASON 2014
[Thursday 25th September]
This is our fourteenth meeting of the season from Pontefract, and pleased to report that our simple system is still showing an overall profit of +6.78 points to a 1 point level unit stake at SP.
Took a bit of a hit at the last meeting but we've managed to keep this going in profit all season long, be nice to end on a good note with the last few meetings.
The 7 race card begins on Thursday afternoon at 2.20;
2.20 -- CAPTAIN REVELATION [WON 6/4], EXACT SCIENCE [8th 40/1]
2.55 -- OUR KYLIE [5th 50/1], SPRING DIXIE [4th 6/1]
3.30 -- PENNINE WARRIOR [N/R], AVAILABLE [4th 9/1]
4.05 -- ENNISTOWN [WON 3/1], CAP O'RUSHES [N/R]
4.40 -- PEEPS [7th 13/2], AUSTIN FRIARS [4th 8/1]
5.15 -- BOXING SHADOWS [2nd 7/2], OHAMA GOLD [10th 17/2]
5.45 -- SAINT THOMAS [2nd 11/4], MEN DON'T CRY [3rd 9/2]
Results appear for Thursday afternoon and we lose a bit more today down 5.5 points ... after which there are only two more scheduled meetings for this venue during the 2014 season.
We will have details for those meetings to end the season and will then return next year where we aim to improve on the results using a staking plan rather than just level stakes to SP. Results will be given for both options though so there's no danger of me trying to "massage" the figures, it's simply me trying to get a bit more out a system that has so far produced a profit over recent years and I do hope it will continue to do so next season too.
