NEW YEAR EVE. WELCOMING IN 2014...

Kind of pleased to see the back of 2013, and it's time to look ahead to the new year and all that might bring.

During 2014 we should get stuck into some more racing systems including the Pontefract meetings which seemed to work well last year. Cheltenham festival to look forward to as well and plans in place for a BIG day out at Ascot on April 30th.

Will leave you with a little win treble to see in the new year nicely

BRADFORD 7/4 (vs Notts County)
LEICESTER EVENS (vs Millwall)
WIMBLEDON 2/1 (vs Dag&Red)

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014

Wednesday, 11 December 2013

December already, just 2 weeks to get your pressies and turkey stuffed ....

Yeah in a little over 2 weeks it'll all be done with for another year. Great !!

As you can see I am not a big fan of Xmas. I guess as you get older it's not very important, I can get drunk and eat too much at any time of the year so what's the big deal about December 25th that you want me to get up and be nice to the family ... bah.

So I hope you all been good this year, and that Santa brings you all you have wished for (else go get it yourself and stick it on the Credit Card).

Have a wonderful winter, will be back with more silly racing systems and who knows what else next season.

All the best

PONTEFRACT RACES -- SYSTEM TEST DAY 16 -- MONDAY 21st OCTOBER 2013

DAY 16

THE FINAL FIXTURE FOR PONTEFRACT'S 2013 FLAT SEASON IS HERE.

HAS BEEN INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THIS SYSTEM WORKED OUT OVER THE SEASON AS A WHOLE, OVERALL RESULTS SHOW THERE'S POTENTIAL AND WHILE NOT EVERY MEETING SHOWED A PROFIT WE AT LEAST FOUND A WINNER OR TWO EACH TIME AND WITH BETTER USE OF THE AVAILABLE PRICES ON OFFER VIA THE BETFAIR MARKETS (IN PARTICULAR USE OF THE PLACE MARKETS) I THINK IT'S WORTH A GOOD GO AGAIN NEXT YEAR TOO.

SO HERE WE GO FOR THE FINAL TIME IN 2013;

2.10 VICTORY DANZ [8th 8/1], BREAKABLE [5th 17/2]

2.40 SWEET ANGELICA [4th 9/1], HELLO SWEETNESS [7th 100/1]

3.10 BRONZE BEAU [N/R], ARCTIC FEELING [WON 7/1]

3.40 SAFETY CHECK [2nd 7/4], GREED IS GOOD [5th 11/2]

4.10 AALIM [2nd 5/1], RANCHO MONTOYA [4th 22/1]

4.40 ADILI [5th 10/1], NEIGHBOURHOOD [N/R]

5.10 RED CHARMER [N/R], HYDRANT [2nd 12/1]

5.40 BARWICK [N/R], THATCHMASTER [8th 16/1]

Down 4 points today, can't win em all.
AND THAT'S ALL FOLKS FROM THIS PART OF YORKSHIRE TILL NEXT YEAR.

NEXT SEASON WE WILL KEEP BLOGGING THIS MEETING AND HOPEFULLY SEE SOME EXCELLENT RESULTS AGAIN. THE PLAN IS SHOULD BE MAKE A PROFIT (HOPEFULLY) THIS WILL BE SET ASIDE TO BE DONATED TO CHARITY.

GOOD LUCK TILL THE NEXT TIME

PONTEFRACT RACES -- SYSTEM TEST DAY 11 -- WEDNESDAY 7th AUGUST 2013

WEDNESDAY 7th AUGUST 2013

Another meeting at the West Yorkshire venue for us this week and once more following the fates of the low drawn horses in stalls 1 and 2. So far results have been consistent but not spectacular, that said it's just a system following recent trends.

Here's how we look for Wednesday afternoon;

2.00 -- SEHNSUCHT [2nd 7/2], PERTUIS [3rd 14/1]

2.30 -- PADDY'S ROCK 6th [25/1], ABBEY VILLAGE [7th 15/2]

3.00 -- LEITRIM PASS [3rd 4/5], CORREGGIO [WON 12/1]

3.30 -- STORMY WEATHER [7th 20/1], BEAUFORT TWELVE [3rd 3/1]

4.00 -- CHOSEN ONE [WON 8/1], PLANETEX [4th 2/1]

4.30 -- JUNKET [2nd 11/2], PARAMOUR [8th 10/3]

5.00 -- CARA GINA [6th 11/2], MILLKWOOD [5th 8/1]

Already guaranteed a decent profit for today with couple of nice winners shame the placepot went begging by the 2nd race but lets not be greedy.

At least 8 points to the good so far to a level SP return.

Saturday, 3 August 2013

GALWAY RACES 2013 -- DAY SEVEN -- SUNDAY 4th AUGUST

SUNDAY 4th AUGUST
DAY SEVEN

Going into the final day seeking a winner or two as we're currently on -5.72 points for the week.

The trainer only has 3 entries for the final day and hopefully one winner will be enough.

Have to say I don't think this has been a Classic festival and not much to shout about on flat or over the sticks.

15:55 -- 2m - Notable Graduate (IRE) Mr R P McNamara WON EVENS

17:00 -- 2m - Talween Mr M P Fogarty 6th 6/1

17:30 -- 2m - Grecian Tiger (IRE) Mr D O'Connor 2nd 10/3

So we finish the meeting down -6.72 points down to a level stake at SP. The first year for a long time this has happened, not the worst week by a long way.

Friday, 2 August 2013

GALWAY RACES 2013 -- DAY SIX SATURDAY 3rd AUGUST

SATURDAY 3rd AUGUST
DAY SIX

Into the final stretch for the 2013 Galway festival, doesn't seem to have had the big names of recent years but there's still plenty of racing to come.

Saturday has an 8 race card kicking off at 2pm.

B/F - 6.72 points on the week looking to claw back a bit today before the finale.

14:00 -- 1m 100y - Leafcutter (IRE) P J Smullen 2nd 8/13

14:35 -- 7f - Mahon Falls L F Roche 4th 6/1

15:10 -- 7f - Stuccodor (IRE) P J Smullen 3rd 4/1

15:10 -- 7f - Northern Rocked (IRE) L F Roche WON 6/1

16:55 -- 1m 4f - Magnolia Ridge (IRE) P J Smullen 9th 10/3

17:25 -- 1m 4f - Sharp Crisp Air (IRE) P J Smullen

Made a profit today albeit only a small one. Sunday card is updated and hopefully we can get out of this. Has been the first year for a while that this hasn't shown a profit overall but we have Sunday to see if we can get back.

Thursday, 1 August 2013

GALWAY FESTIVAL 2013 -- DAY FIVE FRIDAY 2nd AUGUST

FRIDAY 2nd AUGUST
DAY FIVE

3 winners for Dermot Weld certainly helped us on Thursday and now we are only -2.25 behind. Had you backed these at their available prices we'd be ahead but for the purpose of record keeping here we return to SP.

Hopefully some of you got on Brown Panther too.

Anyway here are Dermot's five for Friday.

17:05 -- 7f -- Backdrop (USA) 4th 9/10

17:40 -- 1m 100y -- Secret Locket (IRE) 7th 7/1

18:15 -- 1m 4f -- Calibrate 4th 2/1

18:50 -- 1m 4f -- Show Court (IRE) 3rd 11/4

19:25 -- 1m 6f -- Unaccompanied (IRE) WON 8/15

Good luck to all

Results and Saturday selections will be updated during Friday.  Ended the day down another -4.47points

GALWAY FESTIVAL 2013 -- DAY FOUR THURSDAY 1st AUGUST

THURSDAY 1st AUGUST
DAY FOUR

Bf value of -6.75 points from close of play Wed. Not a great start but still recoverable. Again we have 5 selections for today and all in with good chances.

15:40 -- 7f - Yellow Rosebud (IRE) WON EVENS

16:55 -- 2m - Rock Critic (IRE) 15th 12/1

16:55 -- 2m - Hisaabaat (IRE) 5th 16/1

17:35 -- 1m 4f - Treasure The Ridge (IRE) WON 11/4

18:10 -- 2m 2f - Dont Tell No One (IRE) WON 11/4

A profit today of +4.5 points to SP doesn't quite wipe out the loses though it does when you take the actual prices I got today (4/1 on both last two). Any we now have a small loss of -2.25  to take on to Friday.

1 Selection at Goodwood for today too , BROWN PANTHER in the 3.15 Goodwood Cup8/1 or better is an EW steal. WON 13/2

A cracking win when you consider that it was 10/1 this morning. Sadly not included in the overall P/L for this week but nice to get well ahead today.

Keep the faith and have a good week.

Wednesday, 31 July 2013

GALWAY FESTIVAL 2013. DAY THREE -- WEDNESDAY 31st JULY

WEDNESDAY 31st JULY
DAY THREE

Was another losing day and though the overall tally is down -5.325 and though recoverable we don't want to get into the habit of losing.

Here are the declarations for Wednesday;

16:45 -- 1m 4f -  Alkali (IRE) 10th 9/2

17:30 -- 2m 6f -  Majestic Concorde (IRE) 15th 12/1

18:05 -- 1m 100y -  Moonbi Creek (IRE) 12th 13/2

18:40 -- 1m 100y -  Lucky Kitten (USA)
WON 11/8

19:10 -- 1m 100y -  Jayed Jidan (IRE)
WON 1/5

2 short priced winners again from 5 selections we are still behind but there's plenty to play for still, onwards to Thursday. [lost -1.425 today, down -6.75 overall.]

Regards
DAISY

GALWAY FESTIVAL 2013. DAY TWO -- TUESDAY 30th JULY

TUESDAY 30th JULY
DAY TWO

First day started well and then we had a few near misses sadly still Rome wasn't built in a day.

Onwards to day two, as we stand there are five selections but DIPLOMAT won yesterday and is declared again in the opening contest so will have to wait to see if he actually runs.

B/f loss -1.725 points from Day One.

17:05 -- 2m - Diplomat (USA) 3rd 11/4

18:10 -- 7f -  Tarfasha (IRE) WON 2/5

19:15 -- 7f -  Pirate Cove (IRE) 7th 9/10

20:15 -- 2m -  Dancers Dilemma (IRE) 2nd 5/1

A poor return on Tuesday one skinny priced winner and four losers, losing 3.6 points on the day. So we move quickly onto Wednesday's card and pray that the racing gods grant us favour and a quick turnaround in our fortunes.

Be lucky

GALWAY FESTIVAL 2013. DAY ONE -- MONDAY 29th JULY

DAY ONE MONDAY 29th JULY

Our annual trip to Ireland for the Dermot Weld benefit meeting otherwise known as the Galway Festival.

We will be following the progress of Mr Weld's horses all week and expect most of them to be well supported even so we've made a profit on each year we've followed him so I trust this year will prove to be just as fruitful.

The meeting kicks off at 5.10pm tonight, here's what the maestro has in store for us on Day 1.

17:10 -- 2m - Diplomat (USA)  WON 9/10F

Still life in this system and we'll have a busy week now as it's Galway festival kicking off today and then the next meeting here which will be held on Wednesday 7th August.

PONTEFRACT RACES -- SYSTEM TEST DAY 2 -- MONDAY 22nd APRIL 2013

MONDAY 22nd APRIL

2nd meeting of 2013 and we continue to study the effect or results of draw 1 and 2 here.

6 races, we start at 2.10

2.10 -- LADY LIZ [13th 33/1] / HELLO BEAUTIFUL [2nd 9/2]

2.40 -- NOBLE BULL [2nd 6/1]  / BLUE WAVE [WON 2/1]

3.10 -- GALICIAN [2nd 4/1] / AL'S MEMORY [3rd 17/2]

3.40 -- RIPTIDE [3rd 6/1] / STICKLEBACK [2nd 7/2]

4.10 -- BASTION [2nd 5/2] / ANDERTON [3rd 15/8

4.40 -- SHADOWTIME [2nd 17/2] / GREEN HOWARD [4th 4/1]

Plenty of places today with the system, the Betfair place markets would have been hammered. Sadly just the (one) winner so far but clearly it's still working and worth looking at next time at least.

We would also have had the place pot up too £45.20 to 8 lines. (£64 staked, £361.60 returns).

Next meeting will be on Wed 1st May.

PONTEFRACT RACES ... A SYSTEM TEST FOR 2013 FLAT SEASON

PONTEFRACT RACES
It's been brought to my attention that over recent years stalls 1 and 2 have been performing remarkably well at this course and seems worth following for this season too.

Now of course past performance doesn't mean squat and all runs come to an end but having witnessed the run continue at their first turf meeting this year I will keep a blog going throughout 2013.

TUESDAY 9th APRIL 2013
Results

2.10 -- 1. Snooky [3rd 11/4F] / 2. Dolphin Rock [WON 9/2]

2.40 -- 1. Libertarian [WON 15/8F] / 2. The Welsh Wizard [2nd 2/1]

3.10 -- 1. Polish Max [WON 11/4] / 2. Flashlight [2nd 7/4]

3.40 -- 1. Ctappers [7th 14/1] / 2. Wily Fox [2nd 10/1]

4.15 -- 1. Warlu Way [10th 14/1] / 2. Kingsdesire [2nd 7/1]

4.45 -- 1. Auntie Mildred [9th 11/1] / 2. Next Door [WON 13/8F]

5.15 -- 1. Syncopate [6th 4/1] / 2. Six Silver Lane [10th 20/1]

A good start, and results are SP so assume possible better on Betfair at least, with the added option of following the place market too and picking up the frequent places on offer.

NEXT MEETING: MONDAY 22nd APRIL

AINTREE GRAND NATIONAL SAT 6th APRIL 2013

One of the biggest betting days of the year is upon us the Grand National now over 4m 3f (they've moved the start up 1f away from the crowds).

Out Ante Post slips have been kind this year, am left with 5 selections all backed at over 100/1 some are still about that figure, some are thankfully a little more forwards, but doesn't matter they all got to just the same fences and stay.

Lets see how these get along Sat afternoon;

4 QUELL ESPRIT
5 BIG FELLA THANKS
10 TEA FOR THREE
22 TREACLE
31 HARRY THE VIKING

A small EW wager on SOLL too but only at the current price of 40/1 nice to see him sneak in at the bottom of the weights yesterday.

Have a wonderful National Day.

HORSERACING'S 2013 TURF FLAT SEASON STARTS HERE

SATURDAY FLAT ACTION FROM DONCASTER
NAP - THE FUN CRUSHER [4.55]

So we have a bumper 8 race card for the Lincoln meeting this Saturday, 128 runners declared lets try and find ourselves a winner.

UPDATE -- Saturdays card has been called off. Hopefully the Lincoln can be moved to next weekend.

1.30 -- Opening contest is a 10f maiden for 3yo's and of the 11 runners only a few have significant form from their 2yo days to speak of.

Generally stepping up in trip it's very hard to know how they might have grown and improved until we see some in the parade ring. One to look at closely should be Pat Eddery's INCORPORATE who has had a couple of runs this year on the AW and should be fit to take this.

2.05 -- Next up it's a 22 runner 6f sprint, and the first chance today to get your magic pin out! Horses drawn low usually do well even though last years winner was drawn 15 we'll stick with the low side and take two against the field and see.

FARLOW / KING OF JAZZ

2.40 -- Another 22 runners this time over a mile. Can't be sure how the 4yo's have come on again against the older horses but with ground unknown too this is very much a pin and guess race for the time being. My pair verses the field would be LEVITATE with OCEAN TEMPEST

3.15 -- A listed event over 6f looks more appealing now and ETON RIFLES heads them having enjoyed a good campaign at the end of last year with a couple of wins [beat Jack Dexter who opposing having won 3 handicaps last term]. Both of them might need this and opposable. OUR JONATHAN started last year with a win, and has a good overall win/place % so looks good for a place at least here which is our preferred bet.

3.50 -- The Lincoln Handicap.
Will update rest of card once weather has been checked and outcome of inspection is known.

4.25 -- Div 1 of this handicap and had the rain not turned the ground into a mud-pit I would be strongly on top weight CHOOKIE ROYALE a winner of 4 from last 7 races including here last August and November. With the ground soft it could pay to side with the longer priced GRAN MAESTRO at 16/1.

4.55 -- Div 2 is no easier despite only 10 runners declared. INDEPUB is probably a good idea rather than a selection but has been winning over hurdles for Donald McCain and should be suited to soft slow ground I expect. THE FUN CRUSHER [NAP] is owned by Mr Timeform (Jim McGrath) and lightly raced has a decent chance dropped in class. In fact the more I look at his close 4th at York on Soft ground in a better race than this the more I want to back it. [NAP]

5.30 -- The finale is an apprentice handicap where the form book can sometimes be made to look silly. Sensible approach is to go with an inform talented apprentice and not many have such a rising sign as young W Twiston-Davies who takes the ride on ZAPLAMATION an experienced campaigner who knows how to win at this trip. It's not a race I'd want to bet in though but the top weight PATRIOTIC looks decent over from Ireland and probably worth a go

GOOD LUCK
DAISY

2013 FLAT SEASON STARTS THIS WEEKEND

The official start to the Horse Racing Flat season gets under-way at Doncaster this weekend with the feature race the running of the Lincoln Handicap over 1 mile.

We'll aim to regularly update this blog during the coming season with weekend selections and featured meetings such as Ascot and Goodwood.

Will not be ignoring our friends in Ireland as this year we look forward to attending a few days at the Galway festival in July. [29th July until 4th August 2013]. Hopefully we can continue the good run of form of Dermot Weld's horses this year having shown a profit for a number of seasons up to now.

After a lot of thought I have decided to cease the regular website updates on Daisyracing.co.uk This site will now redirect to my general interest site for the time being. The racing page on the Bigted site may be restarted but is most probably going to be replaced by this Blog and hopefully more regular updates than has been the case of late.

It's not so much that it takes up a lot of time to update it each week, because it didn't really. It was just something I got a little bored of doing each week and if I am honest have had too many other things on my mind this past year what with losing my father very suddenly and the downturn in my own health that seem to coincide with that.

All being well I will find a new lease of life this year and the 2013 turf flat season seems a good place to begin.

So check back here on Friday evening to see my selections for the Doncaster Meeting on Saturday including the Lincoln Winner (hopefully) and my Saturday NAP selection too.

Until then
Be lucky
