HRM OPEN DAY SAT 19th FEB

SATURDAY 19th FEBRUARY 2011
HILLINGDON RAILWAY MODELLERS OPEN DAY
@ Yiewsley Baptist ChurchColham Avenue, Yiewsley, Middx UB7 8HF
[info@yiewsleybaptist.co.uk]

Attended the first of this years open days and while most of the regular members were in attendance it doesn't appear to have brought in any "new" faces yet. Though the OO was also up and that seemed quite busy which is a good sign as I still believe that is their best opportunity to swell numbers as necessary to keep the costs covered. This will allow the O Gauge side to keep going in the short term.

The O gauge layout was up, a few pictures here though not a lot running ... I believe the best business was done by the tea and bacon roll service (which I can confirm was excellent value).

Visit my site www.bigtedonline.com and find more photo's and video clips from the event, includes a most interesting item called a "Shay" used on the logging railroads of North America, uniquely driven by a corkscrew driveshaft it looked amazing close up.

Had to leave early, but lets see how things change between now and the next open day due in April.

REGULAR MEETINGS EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT FROM 7PM

NEXT OPEN DAY SATURDAY 16th APRIL 2011

Thursday, 24 February 2011

BACK AND LAY DAY 17 - FRI 25th FEB 2011

FRIDAY

NAP
DIAMOND BROOK [4.35 SANDOWN PARK]
Lightly raced and should improve for the step up in trip here, the opposition doesn't have a lot of strength in depth so 5/1 looks an ew steal but we'll go in for the win.

LAY
PEPE SIMO [3.25 SANDOWN PARK]
Only 3 runners, so opposing the fav is a bit of a risk, but both opponents are from top yards and come with winning form. Dan Breen is a strong front runner and might be hard to peg back up the stiff finish here, Giorgio Quercus made up for his debut fall and will also challenge the fav.
