Good bye, farewell it's been fun

My apologies, will no longer be able to create any more blogs for the foreseeable future, have picked up an illness and I find it hard to spend the time on this now. Take care, have enjoyed doing this over the years, but it's just a burden and I cannot devote the time to this now. Keep well. Shame I'll miss Cheltenham too.

Have fun

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM, LOVE YOU AND STILL MISS YOU SO MUCH Xxx

A VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY WISH FOR MY MUM. WISH YOU WERE STILL HERE WITH US  Xx

Always loving you Mum x

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us everyday.
Unseen, Unheard, but always near.
Always loved, Always missed.

February is always a sad time for me, with both Mum and Dad having birthdays so shall be making a special trip to the Rose Gardens at the Crematorium this weekend, usually visit and stay for a while to have a talk with Mum and Dad and will hopefully be dry enough for a longer stay. Will get some new photo's of the roses if they are out yet but might be too early for flowers.

Sadly only have a few older photo's of you Mum, including this one opposite which you wrote a lovely message on to Dad xx. Those that I do have are always out on display at home along with Dads too, your black and white wedding photo's with all the Owen/Tyler family are loved. We are alike in that neither of us particularly enjoyed having our photo taken really, so there's hardly any of me either which is sad as would have enjoyed having at least one of us together. At least I have you in my heart, and memories.

Thank you for being my Mum xXx

Miss you so much Mum, lots of love always and forever. xXx

KEMPTON PARK FLOODLIT HORSE RACING 2022 - MEETING #7 WEDNESDAY 23rd FEBRUARY

 KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2022

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse as we begin 2022 with a fresh season of Wednesday evening meetings on the all weather flat track under the lights. We had a decent 2021 here on these Wednesday nights with a profit for the year to SP and shall aim for further success in 2022. More football for me this weekend when AFC Wimbledon continue with their fight against relegation with an away trip to Bolton Wanderers last Saturday but got thumped 4-0 there then on Tuesday night we have another trip to Gillingham. We are still recovering from the recent storms too and generally not feeling very well at all.

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. Last season saw an overall profit for the year to the tune of +25.465 points to SP. We will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season again so far we have been reasonable successful bar one meeting that was a wipe-out it still means we see a +12.533 points profit to take through to week seven.
Kempton Park Racecourse
Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 38/52 (73.07%). We shall reset everything for the new year so that 2022 will begin afresh as it should be. Started well enough with another successful lay last time around means we are now 8/10 (80%) after the opening meetings and hopefully we will have another successful season from January - December.

Tonight's meeting will be our 7th Wednesday evening twilight fixture year. This meeting appears to have a six race card to enjoy, with five of these handicaps on the card at present, will see if any races are divided later. We will begin late in the afternoon with our opening race which will now commence at 17:30 it's the opening handicap for apprentice jockey's contest over a mile, then we should end the card around about 20:00 with our final handicap over 10f+.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cloudy afternoon, but dry into the early evening while the temperature is not likely to get much higher than around 10C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;

Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A winning start to 2022 has been reasonably good for the opening couple of months and we are still up by +12.533 points to SP returns coming into week seven.

Lays - 8/10 L
ooking for another good season with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too.  The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps.
Tonight's Lays;
There are no Lay selections tonight.

We will have more midweek floodlit meetings in 2022, our next meeting will be held here on Wednesday 2nd March. Keep well.

KEMPTON PARK FLOODLIT HORSE RACING 2022 - MEETING #6 WEDNESDAY 16th FEBRUARY

KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2022

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse as we begin 2022 with a fresh season of Wednesday evening meetings on the all weather flat track under the lights. We had a decent 2021 here on these Wednesday nights with a profit for the year to SP and shall aim for further success in 2022. More football for me this weekend when AFC Wimbledon continue with their fight against relegation with a home fixture against Sunderland at Plough Lane. Achieved a 1-1 draw despite a terrible referee who dished out 12 bookings in a game that hardly a war. This weekend we also have the NFL finale with Super Bowl LVI where the Cincinnati Bengals face the Los Angeles Rams into the early hours of Monday morning, a thrilling game at the end as the Rams scored to secure the win, Cooper Kupp voted MVP too.

We will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season again so far the first five meetings were successful bar the last one but it still means a +16.325 points profit to take through to week six.
Started well enough with another successful lay last time around means we are now 7/9 (77.77%) after the opening meetings and hopefully we will have another successful season from January - December.

Tonight's meeting will be our 6th Wednesday evening twilight fixture year. This meeting should have a seven race card to enjoy, with six handicaps on the card at present, having seen the opening handicap on the card divided. We will begin late in the afternoon with our opening race which will now commence at 17:00 with a seven furlong maiden contest, then we should end the card around about 20:30 with a classified stakes over six furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cloudy afternoon, but dry into the early evening while the temperature is not likely to get much higher than around 12C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
17:30  Join Racing Tv Now Handicap (Div One)
1m  [Class 6  12 runners]
The opening one mile handicap has been divided and the first one can go to Headora [4th @16/1] has been runner up a couple of times and has other place form to count on but running out of chances to finally secure a handicap victory. Will be priced accordingly which will also apply to Villeurbanne [5th @9/1] who again has a couple of runner up races on the all weather and at Redcar, the penny should drop sooner or later, and with Tom Marquand booked the 14/1 might not last long.
Winner - (5) Dynakite @11/4f  [K Shoemark].

18:00  Join Racing Tv Now Handicap (Div Two)
1m  [Class 6  11 runners]
The second division is another open contest, a dozen line up for the mile start and we begin by picking a winner at Wolves in January Calonne [4th @15/2] has shown a liking for this trip, was well beaten over 6f here prior to that, but has plenty of win and place form over the mile albeit most efforts are up at Newcastle. While Recuerdame [9th @8/1] ran in a similar looking contest two weeks ago and was staying on at the end there so no reason to suggest they cannot go in and score once again with a 3lb rise, has Hollie Doyle in the saddle too which must be a plus here.
Winner - (2) Covert Mission @13/8f  [Daniel Muscutt].

18:30  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap
1m  [Class 4  10 runners]
Freedom and Wheat [4th @8/1] a winner here three runs ago however that was nearly fourteen months back and has been lightly raced since that, still feasibly weighted in this line up and their most recent effort here last month is promising will race off a similar mark here tonight. While support for Proclaimer [Non Runner] should be noted, won four in a row (three of which were here) and has enjoyed a short break since, not too far above their final winning mark at Newcastle and with David Probert on board someone who is an expert on this track.
Winner - (6) Rogue Force @10/3  [Jack Mitchell].

19:30  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap
6f  [Class 2  3 runners]
The best race in terms of class and only three are expected to line up now with Royal Pleasure already withdrawn. May Sonic won this last year and is likely to make a bold bid to repeat that but I will side with Papa Stour [WON @15/8] who won here last time out. The other runner who completes the field is Mohareb though might prefer Southwell and has been beaten in small fields before. A tricky race to call given the small field but should be run at a true pace and all in with a chance.
Winner - (4) Papa Stour @15/8  [Marco Ghiani].

20:00  Unibet Supporting Safe Gambling Fillies' Handicap
1m 3f 218y  [Class 5  7 runners]
Going with two big prices here against the field, Colonial Love [7th @66/1] a winner over 12f last summer now dropping back down the weights and with Georgia Dobbie's claim should feature. While Luna Magic [6th @33/1] was also successful twice last year and wouldn't have enjoyed the soft going that she experienced after that, a return to the all weather should see this experienced 8yo take a closer order again, it's possible her latest run came too soon after a good 3rd at Southwell.
Winner - (5) Allowed @9/4  [Rob Hornby].

20:30
Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Fillies' Handicap
1m  [Class 5  7 runners]
We end with another fillies handicap over a mile this time, while Hold Fast returns to try and repeat her win from last year but seems a short price so am going to side with the pair of Princesse Animale [6th @9/2] a regular winner and place efforts over at Lingfield last year, the 5yo mare is weighted to score again if in the mood. While Zoom Zoom Babe [WON @10/3] has been dropping in the weights though was successful over in Ireland, back to a mile should suit too and her jockey takes off a further 3lb.
Winner - (6) Zoom Zoom Babe @10/3  [Theodore Ladd].

Staked - 12 points.       Returns - 8.208 points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A winning start to 2022 came to an end last time with no winners but we are still up by +16.325 points to SP returns coming into week six. Couple of winners tonight, and a small loss for the meeting of -3.792 points means that overall we are now +12.533 points in profit to SP.

Lays - 7/9 L
ooking for another good season with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too.  The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Another favourite beaten today, so that's 8/10.
Tonight's Lays;
17:00 - Take A Stand  [7f Maiden Stakes].  Lost 3rd@7/4f
Kempton Park Racecourse

We will have more midweek floodlit meetings in 2022, our next meeting will be held here on Wednesday 23rd February 2022. Keep well.

Sunday 13 February 2022

NFL SUPERBOWL LVI [SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles] - SUNDAY 13th FEBRUARY 2022

NFL Superbowl LVI
Super Bowl LVI
Venue: SoFi Stadium.
Sunday 13th February   Time: 23:30 GMT.
Cincinnati Bengals (AFC)  20
LA Rams (NFC)  23
The final game of the 2021-22 NFL season takes place at the home of both the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. Super Bowl LVI will be the 56th Super Bowl and the 52nd modern-era National Football League championship. The game is scheduled to be played on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Pregame Entertainment
The opening ceremonies will include country singer Mickey Guyton who will perform the National Anthem, making her the first black female country singer to perform the national anthem at the game. While Jhené Aiko will perform "America the Beautiful" and Mary Mary accompanied by the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles will perform "Lift Every Voice and Sing" which is also known as the "Black National Anthem".
Pepsi Half Time Show
The famous halftime show will be headlined by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. That is quite a lot of artists to fill the short 15 minute slot although when you add in all the expensive adverts it usually lasts about 30 minutes.

The AFC Champions Cincinnati Bengals beat last years Super bowl runners up Kansas City to join the NFC Champions LA Rams into this seasons finale. Lots of exciting playoff games, late comebacks, overtime and some upsets of the seeds means we have the #4 seed Cincinnati Bengals representing the AFC matched up against the #4 seed from the NFC in the shape of the Los Angeles Rams.

This end of season extravaganza is a big night in my calendar and will make a night of it where the main challenge for myself will be can I keep awake to catch it all, or will I be asleep before the half time show. The game is live on the BBC1 channel on Sunday night from 23:30 there is also a show on BBC2 from 23:00 with all the build up. Dan Walker presents the NFL weekly show now having taken over from Mark Chapman last season. However the SuperBowl appears to have been handed to Nat Coombs who will be joined by two-time Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora, former NFL cornerback Jason Bell and a host of guests from the world of American football including Mike Carlson. Time to rustle up some snacks, grab a few beers and settle down to enjoy the action, at least this year we don't have to be up early for work in the morning.
CINCINNATI BENGALS
Odds 33/20
(5/6 with +4.5 points handicap)

The Cincinnati Bengals finished the regular season with a 10–7 record under third-year head coach Zac Taylor. This will be their third Super Bowl appearance, following 1981's Super Bowl XVI and 1988's Super Bowl XXIII. After losing both, the Bengals saw little success and had not won a playoff game since the 1990 season. Having finished the previous three seasons at the bottom of the AFC North and having not made the playoffs since 2015, it was after their 2-14 season that they had the first overall pick in the NFL Draft which they used to select Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow. Much could depend on how often Joe Burrow can find his star receiver Ja'Marr Chase, who was their main pick the season after they selected Burrow. Chase was fourth in receiving yards (1,455) and third in receiving touchdowns (13), both of which led the AFC. In the AFC Championship Game against the two-time defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati fell into a 21–3 deficit during the first half, but rallied to take a 24–21 lead in the fourth quarter. The game went into overtime, in which safety Vonn Bell intercepted Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the first drive and McPherson converted a 31-yard field goal to send the Bengals to their first Super Bowl since 1988. So even if they do find themselves down in the game they know they have the minerals to turn it around, something that could be a big psychological advantage?

Rams QB Matt Stafford
LA RAMS
Odds 1/2
(20/21 with -4.5 Points Handicap)

The Los Angeles Rams finished the 2021 season with a 12–5 record under fifth-year head coach Sean McVay. This will be their fifth Super Bowl appearance, third as a Los Angeles-based team, and second under McVay having lost the 2018 finale against the New England Patriots by a score of 13–3 in the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in history. I hope we won't see a repeat of that as it was very dull and this season by contrast has been one of the bests that I can recall. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp became the fourth NFL player and first since 2005 to obtain the receiving triple crown by leading the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and receiving touchdowns (16).  The team's leading rusher at 845 yards was running back Sony Michel, who was acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots after Cam Akers missed most of the regular season with an Achilles tendon injury.

Defensively they have the outstanding Aaron Donald the leading tackle with 12.5 sacks too, a leader on and off the field. Also with Jalen Ramsey, Leonard Floyd and Taylor Rapp they have put together a strong defensive line.

Expecting a high scoring offensive game so the over 47.5 points is high but achievable (10/11) will also support the half time market with the over 23.5 score at Evens shall aim to have that in some accumulators over the weekend.
Other bets this weekend
Cooper Kupp to score 2 or more touchdowns @7/2
Total match touchdowns over 5.5 @5/6
Cooper Kupp AND Cam Akers to score touchdowns @12/5

AFC WIMBLEDON vs SUNDERLAND - LEAGUE ONE HOME FIXTURE 2021/22 SEASON [12th FEBRUARY]

AFC Wimbledon vs Sunderland

Saturday 12th February 2022  KO 3pm
AFC Wimbledon will host their latest League One game at Plough Lane for the 2021-22 season against Sunderland. With the sides at either end of the League one table it's an important game for our survival after the recent run of form and lack of firepower up front, we will certainly need to find a 'Plan B' for the latter part of the season. After an away defeat at Charlton last weekend and a narrow 0-1 loss against league leaders Rotherham on Tuesday night we remain in 20th position in the League One table on 30 points after 30 games played

The Dons failed to mount a serious challenge in search of an unlikely equaliser, with Mark Robinson's side now 12 games without a win in all competitions, the visitors deserved their victory on the balance of play and left with maximum points after rarely getting out of second gear, a fact that is sure to be thrust further into the spotlight as we look ahead to our next game on Saturday. Head coach Mark Robinson last night told our squad that they must show more conviction on the ball if they want to steer clear of the League One drop zone.  Speaking after the 1-0 home defeat against top-of-the-table Rotherham on Tuesday night, Robbo said: “We need to put this to bed quickly because it will be a completely different challenge on Saturday. A match against Rotherham isn’t going to define where we finish. You want to stand up to teams physically, like we did at Wycombe and Accrington, but I wanted us to show personality on the ball. I didn’t see that, so that’s what we need"

Team News - Lee Brown returns to the squad for Saturday’s visit from Sunderland, but fellow defender Dan Csoka won't be available.
Recent League One Results (Tuesday)
AFC Wimbledon 0 - 1 Rotherham United
Cheltenham Town 2 - 1 Sunderland

Looking at today's game itself this Saturday afternoon in League One and our opponents today; Sunderland have appointed former Norwich City and Preston North End boss Alex Neil as their new head coach on a 12-month rolling deal. The 40-year-old joins after the League One Black Cats parted company with Lee Johnson following their 6-0 thrashing by Bolton Wanderers on 29 January. Neil's arrival comes after negotiations ended with former boss Roy Keane. They are presently in 4th place in the League one table on 54 points, lost midweek again against Cheltenham Town 1-2.
Men to watch for the opposition; Former England striker Jermaine Defoe re-joined the club having left Glasgow Rangers earlier in the January transfer window. While fellow forward Ross Stewart leads their goal scoring table with 18 so far this season often assisted by their attacking midfield player Alex Pritchard who is another to watch closely.
League One Season 2021/22
Head to Head
Our head to head form against Sunderland since our return to the league as AFC Wimbledon makes rather depressing reading, just the six matches played going back to 2018, and NO victories for the Dons, just the solitary draw 1-1 at the Stadium of Light and five defeats including a 1-0 loss in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

  • Bookings over 55 points @12/5.

Half Time
Score - 1 - 1    [McCormick (pen) 19']  [Pritchard 35']

First Half Comments;
Kick Off 3pm today at the Cherry Red Records, Plough Lane Wimbledon stadium. Our visitors get us underway today, a sunny but chilly day at Plough Lane. The opening eighteen minutes there isn't much to report, attacks without amounting to anything productive and plenty of fouls with no bookings yet. And then we get a break with a penalty awarded to the Dons for a handball by Callum Doyle which is converted by Luke McCormick 1-0. The Dons look on the up for that good start, and despite Ben Heneghan going into the refs book they are starting to create more chances. Then as we hit 35 minutes the visitors create a chance from a free kick as Alex Pritchard with a right footed shot to the top right corner. 1-1. Couple more bookings before the break but we go in all square after a good entertaining first half.

Full Time Score - 1 - 1

Match Summary;
A full house at the Lane, got most of the bets up which was nice, was spot on about the referee being card happy with twelve bookings and a sending off late for McCormick, he's not very good as it was hardly a dirty game, even Jermaine Defoe picked up a card after coming on as a second half sub. Somewhere in amongst all that a game was still played and the 1-1 result about right I suppose. Just staying above the drop zone, but only just.

My Man of the Match - Luke McCormick.

Attendance - 8,381.

Today's Referee - Our match referee for this afternoon will be Mr Simon Mather, don't know much about him really, but certainly loves a booking with an average over four a game plus a sending off one in every three games. Took charge of our 2-0 away win at Accrington Stanley back in December having only just elevated from the National League. He will have able assistance from Andrew Aylott and Michael Webb
. While on fourth official duties this afternoon it's David Rock.

Next league one fixture;
  vs Bolton Wanderers (Away)

KEMPTON PARK FLOODLIT HORSE RACING 2022 - MEETING #5 WEDNESDAY 9th FEBRUARY

KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2022

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse as we begin 2022 with a fresh season of Wednesday evening meetings on the all weather flat track under the lights. We had a decent 2021 here on these Wednesday nights with a profit for the year to SP and shall aim for further success in 2022. My side AFC Wimbledon continue with their fight against relegation with a fixture to face Charlton Athletic on the weekend, sadly they lost 3-2 there and host another game against the league one leaders Rotherham on Tuesday night at Plough Lane where they went down 0-1. Elsewhere the 2022 Winter Olympic games have begun in Beijing, and we are looking ahead to next weekend's Super Bowl LVI.

We will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season again so far the first four meetings were successful which means a +24.325 points profit to take through to week five.
Started well enough with another successful lay last time around means we are now 5/6 (83.33%) after the opening meetings and hopefully we will have another successful season from January - December.

This meeting will be our 5th Wednesday evening twilight fixture of the year. This meeting will have a seven race card to enjoy, four handicaps on the card at present, will see if any races are divided (doesn't appear so). We will begin late in the afternoon with our opening race which will now commence at 16:55 with a five furlong maiden contest, then we should end the card around about 20:00 with the final handicap contest a stayers event over just under two miles.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
17:30  Unibet New Instant Roulette Handicap (3yo)
7f  [Class 6  9 runners]
The second race on the card is our opening handicap and it's for three year olds only, a field of ten have been declared on Monday headed by Deacs Delight for Paul Cole. However my first pick here is the handicap debutant Greyart [7th @8/1] who was fourth at this track last time in maiden company, now ridden by Marco Ghiani and ought to improve for the experience. Another horse who ran in that same race is the imaginatively named filly Ummsuquaim [2nd @8/1] who was runner up that time and with Hollie Doyle taking over in the saddle should have a big run in her again tonight.
Winner - (10) Gidwa @7/2  [David Probert].

18:30  Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Fillies' Handicap
1m  [Class 4  5 runners]
A small field of just five now for the fillies handicap over a mile, Amber Island (lay) makes a rare visit to this track (sole run here was back in Jan 2021) last of five at Lingfield last time, we will look elsewhere tonight. Arenas Del Tiempo looks interesting back down in grade has run well at Epsom, Sandown and Brighton last season and while this is a different surface to those has raced here in the early part of her career and likely to make a bold bid. The outsider of the five is Universal Effect a six year old, but a multiple all weather winner and the small field might be to her advantage if getting away on terms.
Winner - (4) Global Acclaim @9/4  [JP Fahy].

19:00  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Fillies' Handicap
7f  [Class 5  5 runners]
Another fillies event up next, led by last time out scorer Khatwah, stayed on to to win that day and might well repeat tonight but looks way too short for us today. Runner up in that race was Eyes who once again tries again, likely to run their race again and no forlorn hope, will pair that one with Exuding who ran in another race on the same card again, runner up over six furlongs that day and the hope that this extra furlong brings out a bit more.
Winner - (1) Khatwah @10/11f  [Frederick Larson].

The Resdev Way [2nd @7/1] might be a 9yo now but has shown still has the winning touch with a win last time out at Lingfield, Micky Hammond's inmate has been rated much higher than this lowly mark, and while no sure thing to go in again at least proved his well being with that last win. Tulane made most to win here going well clear and never caught, though unable to follow up a few days later that was in a non handicap event and most likely to make another bold bid in this line up.
Winner - (13) Smart Boyo @12/1  [Hollie Doyle].

Staked - 8 points.       Returns - Nil points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meeting. A winning start to 2022, now up +24.325 points to SP returns coming into week five. Sadly nothing to show for tonight, shame but it happens, so we have to take 8pts off our overall profit which is now down to +16.325 points to SP returns

Lays - 5/6 having let the 100% start slip with a winning favourite in the second meeting we at least got back to a beaten lay entry last time. L
ooking for another good season with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. Two from three tonight, shame but never mind, means we are onto 7/9 now.

The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps.
