KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021 - MEETING #33 WEDNESDAY 8th DECEMBER

KEMPTON PARK HORSE RACING 2021

Welcome to Kempton Park racecourse a season of evening meetings following the events on a Wednesday night on the all weather flat track under the lights. We will continue blogging throughout 2021 till the end of the year. Started well this season pleasantly still ahead as we push on through the autumn still in profit and now into December for the final few meetings of 2021. Just a couple more weeks near enough to finish off my Christmas chores (wow) and elsewhere we have seen the second round of FA Cup games where AFC Wimbledon beat Cheltenham Town 4-3 on Saturday having gone behind in the opening couple of minutes with the draw for Round Three to be made on Monday night and hopefully a big name and TV money beckons, well not for us as we have an away tie against Boreham Wood but a winnable match to get us into round four maybe?

Returning to the horse racing all results here are reported to 1pt at Starting Prices (SP) we will be keeping a rolling record of profit/loss all the way through from January till the Boxing Day 'King George' fixture in December. A successful opening first half of the year during 2021 went a little behind around the middle of the year but now we are back in front as we ease towards the end of the season. We are looking very healthy with profit for the season standing at +33.465 points with further success expected we will continue to keep a record to SP throughout the season.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we had been fairly successful with our selections throughout last year managed to get plenty of favourites beat so we finished on 33/49 (67.34%). We reset the counters for 2021 and will be continuing this throughout the year again. Currently standing at 36/48 (75%) after another success at the latest meeting and we shall see how things progress as the end of the calendar year draws nearer.

This week will be our 33rd Wednesday evening meeting of the year. Tonight's meeting will now begin earlier than expected with an eight race card to enjoy, we will still have four handicaps tonight which includes a 2yo nursery contest. We will begin early evening with our opening race which will commence at 16:00 with the opening two year old fillies stakes contest over seven furlongs, then we should end the card around about 19:30 with the final handicap event which is run over just under a mile and three furlongs.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a somewhat cold and cloudy afternoon into the early evening with a fair chance of some rain showers in the forecast while the temperature is not likely to get much higher than around 7C tonight.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
16:30  Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Nursery (2yo)
7f  [Class 4  7 runners]
Our opening handicap is a 2yo nursery event, where Jamie Osborne's Boafo Boy [3rd @9/1] should make a bold bid having run twice at Salisbury (winning @100/1 on debut) with the step up in trip likely to be well within his grasp. While Tom Dascombe's gelding Costa Adeje [6th @14/1] chances are based on his deeper experience than most here, and the extra furlong also helping.
Winner - (4) Sydney Street @10/1  [R Coakley].

18:30  'Lace Up And Speak Up' Fillies' Handicap
1m  [Class 5  9 runners]
Roger Varian's filly Famille Rose [3rd @9/2] stayed on strongly to win at this course early in November 2020 and ought to have a strong chance of following up again in this fillies event, even allowing for the 12 month layoff. Another seven furlong winner here is Bagatelle [9th @5/2] who was successful last month and good value for the style in which she came well away from the field. Was well supported that day too and looks certain to appreciate the mile trip today, Daniel Muscutt keeping the ride again tonight.
Winner - (1) Angel's Whisper @20/1 [Stefano Cherchi].

19:00  Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap
7f  [Class 2  8 runners]
Winner of her first two runs at Newmarket Bellosa [2nd @16/5] (maiden and listed events) was dropped in the Jersey Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting and no surprise she was down the field there. This handicap looks much more manageable tonight, and Jane Chapple-Hyam could have a nice 3yo on her hands, Adam Kirby rides this time. While Andrew Balding keeps finding improvement with May Night [3rd @10/3] already a dual winner here this season and slowly rising in the handicap, successful at Wolves too last time out and gets in here with lowest weight, could still have a big say in the outcome.
Winner - (3) Edraak @13/2  [Theodore Ladd].

19:30  Unibet New Instant Roulette Handicap
1m 2f 219y  [Class 4  9 runners]
Formally racing over in Ireland Dream Tale [4th @20/1] could score on his Uk debut having finished runner up on his final race at Leopardstown even allowing for top weight in this handicap might not be enough to stop a bold showing. While Andrew Balding's 4yo filly La Hullote [2nd @10/3] might be able to exploit getting in to this with the lowest weight and a winner over this trip last month then was placed again here over slightly further but even then only beaten a head/neck into third.
Winner - (6) Oz Legend @2/1f  [Daniel Muscutt].

Staked - 8 points.       Returns - _ points.
Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. All results are accurate and recorded to SP returns to a 1pt win stake only and updated each meetingOur winning start to 2021 has continued and we remain in front to the tune of +33.465 points to a level stake at SP coming into this week's 33rd meeting. A rather frustrating night with loads of places and no winners. Moves us back to a profit mark of +25.465 points to SP

Lays - 36/48 We had a good season last year again with the lays, aiming at favourites and not afraid to take on short odds on shots too. These continue to go quite well given we are into the final few months of the year, and they are generally very short prices, including another successful fav beaten during the last few meetings. The plan will be for at least one or two each meeting and we will keep those results separate from the handicaps. Annoying evening with two winning lays out of three, still that is going to happen when you take on the favs.
Tonight's Lays;
16:00 - Cuban Beat  [7f 2yo Fillies Novice Stakes]. Won @9/4f
17:00 - Asean Legend  [1m 2yo Novice Stakes]. Lost 2nd @5/4f
18:00 - Sea Speedwell  [1m Fillies Novice Stakes]. Won @9/4f

We will have another midweek floodlit meeting here on Wednesday 15th December so keep well and hopefully we can have a successful 2021.
