KEMPTON PARK RACES 2019 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS #16 10th July

KEMPTON PARK RACES 2019 -- WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

Continuing with the next instalment of what I hope will prove to be a productive year throughout 2019.

It's July and it's too hot for me on the weekend, hopefully we'll chill down a bit and have a fun night here at Kempton. If you were at PRIDE at the weekend I hope you had a fun time and partied hard and long. Our next festivals will be at the end of this month with Galway, Goodwood coming soon plus we'll be over to Laytown Beach and the autumn meetings in Ayr. AFC Wimbledon have continued their pre-season fixtures with a 0-3 defeat to Brentford but a good run out for the new players and followed that with a narrow 2-3 defeat to a strong Bristol City side on Tuesday night, the first home game with Rotherham will come around soon enough.

Did not have the best of meetings here last time but will continue to focus on the all weather horse racing now while the lights still shine brightly here at Kempton Park throughout this year. We are hopeful of better season than we experienced last year but it's just some fun and excitement to mix up the week we have started the first half a little behind to SP though it's positive thus far with regular winners and successful lay bets too.

Let us continue with this our sixteenth Wednesday night of 2019, and will continue to focus on the handicap contests for each Wednesday evening meeting though we will also occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too if there is one available. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1 point level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds than this but for the purpose of these results here we simply record SP returns only.
Following our last meeting the deficit is currently on -35.525 points to SP returns overall. We continue to battle hard to reduce this and thankfully there is still plenty of time to get this back on track.

Throughout the year we will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of anticipated short priced favourites too. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures we have been fairly successful with our selections so far and last time got another selections beat which means we are now 16/23 we will continue with this through 2019.

This Wednesday will be meeting number sixteen for the 2019 AW season and we are expecting an eight race card tonight we have seven handicaps now this week for us to look through and enjoy the 3yo mile event having been split into two divisions at 18:15/18:45. The action which will now commence at 17:15 with a 7f Apprentice handicap contest and the card ends around about 20:45 with our final handicap contest again over 7f.

Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD

Going and Weather -- The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast for this Wednesday is for a lot of cloudy with more than an average chance of rain a top temperature will be about 22C by the time the meeting gets underway.

Here are our handicap selections for tonight;
17:15 -- 7f Apprentice Handicap.
It's a busy night of handicaps now with seven to review and our first is the 7f Apprentice contest that has only received a field of seven. Top weight QUICK BREATH [2nd 6/4f] is a course and distance winner here as well as a recent runner up at Goodwood on the turf so in form and could go very well in this company.

BRIYOUNI [6th 16/1] is another course and distance winner and sits at the other end of the handicap, wins here in January and placed efforts of marks as high as 85 should mean a decent chance tonight off only 68 with jockey taking off another 7lb.

17:45 -- 1m Handicap.
A field of 14 where top weight CASHEL [4th 8/1] can strike now racing closer to his winning marks at the start of the year. MANS NOT TROT [7th 16/1] has been racing around this mark and at 14/1 appeals as an outsider with place chances in an open race looks worth taking that chance.

18:15 -- 1m Handicap (3yo) (Div One).
The opening division of this 3yo handicap sees JABALALY [Non Runner] heading the field of eleven and this Ed Dunlop gelding has had four runs and runner up twice so might be able to take a step forward in this lowly handicap.

ELIGIBLE [2nd 7/2] another to have four previous runs and Clive Cox doesn't waste time with his string so open to some improvement in handicaps.

18:45 -- 1m Handicap (3yo) (Div Two).
Division two of the 3yo handicap sees FARES POET [2nd 10/1] heading them having been runner up last time at Wolves along with JACK D'OR [3rd 11/1] has chances of opening their account.

19:45 -- 1m 7f 218y Handicap.
The stayers event sees PADDY A [11th 12/1] returning to the flat and while not showing much over hurdles this level is much more within his range and at 12/1 is good win/place option over this trip.

Also of interest is TRUE NORTH [8th 8/1] from Sir Mark Prescott's stable and always dangerous to ignore in these type of events.

20:15 -- 1m 2f 219y Handicap.

GET BACK GET BACK [3rd 2/1] heads the weights and this surface should show him in a better light than the recent efforts on softened ground. His last win at Doncaster reads well along with the previous efforts here at Kempton prior to that.

JAI HANUMAN [Non Runner] as a five year old ran up a good sequence on the all weather tracks earlier in the year and although didn't fire when returned to turf at Windsor is given another chance in this company to show that the run might not have ended yet with Jamie Spencer in the saddle.

20:45 -- 7f Handicap (3yo).
Our finale tonight sees NEFARIOUS [2nd 7/2] heading this field of eight and this 3yo with David Probert riding shouldn't be too far away tonight back over 7f and keeps being placed in his own age ground, still seems the type to go well despite top weight. MOLIVALIENTE [WON 3/1] sits at the bottom of the handicap and has only had the three runs to date so could be ready to take advantage of a lenient mark.

Staked -- 14 points.
Returns -- 6 points.

Results will appear here later during Wednesday evening. We are currently on a deficit of -35.525 points to SP returns for the season, six months of the season to go though. Blooming heck another losing week, a winner in the last doesn't stop us losing 8 points tonight, so that's -43.525.

LAYS -- 16/23. Another successful pair of lay bets last time around and will see if we can find one or two short priced selections and will post here if we have any for tonight. Another beaten fav tonight so we move to 17/24

Tonight's Lays;
TAMBOURINE GIRL [19:15]  LOST 3rd 11/10f.

2019 AW season at Kempton under the lights

Our seventeenth meeting for this year will be held next month on Wednesday 7th August so hope to see you then and throughout the rest of 2019 too.
