Wednesday 2nd May.
Welcome to this our 3rd meeting of this years flat season.
We welcome our 3rd meeting here this season although we expect to be away at Ascot for my birthday. The 2018 Season continues with Northern Racing College Charity Day on Wednesday 2nd May. The Northern Racing College, based just outside Doncaster, was set up in 1984 and provides a range of courses at all levels for people who are looking at the horseracing industry as a future career. It also offers those currently in the business the chance to develop their qualifications and skills.
The racing today casts an eye to future stars. The opening 2yo Novice Stakes is historically an informative event and was won a few years ago by the subsequent globetrotting superstar, Peniaphobia, who won another Group 2 in Hong Kong last year.
The 3yo Sky Bet Maiden also has a rich history – John Gosden’s Royal Ascot winner ‘Remote’ made his debut in this a few years ago while last year, Mudaarab trained by Sir Michael Stoute won by a length and then went onto win at Goodwood under the same margin. We’ll be on the lookout for another superstar to hit the Pontefract turf this year.
As always we count ALL results for this meeting returned to a level stake at SP, and will also show any forecast results too in the daily results but these do not count for the profit / loss figures.
The forecast going is now currently reported as 'Soft' the weather for Wednesday afternoon is for a partly cloudy day with some showers due and a forecast maximum temperature around the 13-14C mark, Could be better I guess now we are into May, it'll surely improve throughout the next few months into our summer (hopefully).

Last season might have been a bit of a blowout compared to recent years, and the last meeting resulted in a -1 point loss (to SP) so all being well we can kick start this season, and results from today will be updated later on at the end of the meeting. Results from today was small profit to SP and as such our loss is reduced slightly to -0.67 points going forth.
Our next meeting will be the first of their evening race meetings and that's on Friday 25th May. Keep following us throughout the season.
