As we continue to focus on the handicap contests for each meeting we will also occasionally include a feature listed or conditions event too. Keeping records of our endeavours to a 1pt level stake at SP, naturally we will personally be looking to get better odds but for the purpose of these results here we simply record to SP returns.
We will keep up with our occasional lay opportunities of short priced favourites too, our last lay selection again ended in a defeat so able to improve the results to 14 from 22. They are all usually short price favs and we will see if there is another selection for tonight. Naturally we will keep these results separately from the handicap figures.
Here's a link to this Wednesday's race card; RACECARD
The going on the polytrack surface is described as 'standard to slow' and the current weather forecast is for a lovely sunny day although the top temperature will only be about 10C by the time the meeting gets underway.
Our eight race card tonight now has four handicap contests for us to review, there might even be a lay bet but that will be updated later;
18:40 -- 1m 3f 219y Handicap.
Small field of 8 for our first handicap tonight, and will side with a couple of course winners in RYDAN [5th 4/1] and BERRAHRI [3rd 22/1] against the field where the short price favourite appears to be the Godolphin ALQAMAR (Lay) and that will be one I'd seek to lay tonight. Got the lay right and nice place bet but still no winner.
19:10 -- 1m 3f 219y Handicap (3yo).
Same trip, but much lower quality and 14 to select from as a result, LONDON GRAMMAR [Non Runner] at least has a course victory to her name and at 10/1 looks worth a win/place option. Top weight LADY OF STEEL [7th 22/1] hasn't done a lot in three maidens but has an opening mark that might still be good enough against this opposition and will be interesting to follow in the markets.
19:40 -- 1m 7f 218y Handicap (3yo).
Another race for 3yo and just the seven available tonight, hard to look away from NAVAJO STAR [4th 9/2] against these but won't be much of a price. CARACAS [Non Runner] is the one most likely to take advantage of any slip ups by the fav.
20:10 -- 7f Handicap.
Two against the field for us in tonight's finale, SAKHEE'S GEM [10th 20/1] with Josephine Gordon in the saddle and can go better back at 7f has been dropping a few pounds down the weights recently and worth a look. Along with BINKY BLUE [2nd 5/1] who has also been placed off similar mark and has a win under her belt off a higher mark too.
Staked -- 8 points.
Returns -- 2 points. [2 non runners, that's all we get now]
Results will appear later tonight. Currently we have a deficit of -58.17 points that we bring forward to this round of racing, again some places, but no wins, lost another 6 points tonight, so the gap gets wider and we are -64.17 down going ahead to the next meeting.
LAYS -- After last weeks successful effort we now stand at 14 from 22 for this season, will try to get a few more favourites beaten before the end of the season.
If we have one or two Lays tonight they will be updated here.
LAY - ALQAMAR (18:40) LOST 8th 6/4F another successful lay thank you our results are now 15 from 23.
