KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 25th FEBRUARY 2015

With another 25/1 winner last Wednesday we managed to increase our profitability on this weekly thread up to a position of +61.72 to our 1pt level stake, it's performance is even better in conjunction with Betfair (up over +100 pts) and it's place markets but results will continue to be expressed by SP and to a level unit stake. And all this in just 6 weeks since the start of the year, long may our luck be in.

A link to tonight's race card can be found here;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/25-02-2015/fast-cards

This week it's not an all handicap card so that's a nice change, there are still 5 handicaps for us to look at and we'll be getting underway at 5.15pm. So onwards with our selections for tonight;

17:15 - 1m Handicap -- The mile trip would appear to be against the likes of Indus Valley and Monsieur Royale which is a shame as it's only a field of 7 and I can't favour either of these outsiders. So we take a chance on the top weight CLEMENT who is stepping up again from 7f but this is a lower grade than he's used to so we hope the two even out and can help him get ahead.  [6th 11/2].

19:15 - 1m 3f Handicap -- Going to keep onside with last weeks winner THE GAY CAVALIER who did us a nice turn here at 25/1 and is turned out again under a 6lb penalty. Won't be the price it was last time out but still worth a shout at about 7/1. [WON 11/2].

19:45 - 1m 4f Handicap -- NOVEL DANCER won over CD in January but couldn't go in again up 4lb. Seemed to be in good form prior to that win so will give him another go on same terms, will need to break better to get a good position and has stall 1 to help.  [8th 12/1].

20:15 - 6f Handicap --  The likes of DESERT STRIKE appears to have a better liking for Lingfield than around here and I prefer to give SUPERSTA another try as they've not had much racing especially on the AW and could improve for their spin around Wolves when going well but carried wide on the run in. [12th 18/1].

20:45 - 6f Handicap (3yo) -- Only 7 declared for the finale tonight and first try in a handicap for BOUNCING CZECH could be the time to catch him from Amanda Perrett's yard.

MISU PETE did us a favour winning last time in January but is more likely to go off fav here tonight and is overlooked alongside the other handicap débutante BEACH PLAZA as we look for a better priced selection.  [2nd 7/2].

A winner and a place from the 5 handicaps, we get a small profit +1.5pts from tonight to take the overall figure to +63.22pts to a 1pt level stake at SP.

Nice to see The Gay Cavalier win again under a penalty and defy his critics, might be turned out again next week but a further rise (and likely shorter odds) will count against him if that happens.

Have a good week.

KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 18th FEBRUARY 2015

This week once again the racing executive have dreamed up another exciting card consisting entirely of 6 handicap races. No maidens, no claimers, no classified stakes just handicaps all the way starting at 5.40pm.

A link to the race card can be found here;

http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/18-02-2015/fast-cards

Our recent results has been remarkable lately and we arrive here with a healthy profit of +41.72 to our 1pt level stake, performing even better in conjunction with Betfair and it's place markets but results will continue to be expressed by SP and to a level unit stake. So lets see if we can't improve a little on that this week;

Our Selections for tonight;

17:40 - 5f Handicap -- Just the seven declared for our opener here and we give another chance to NOVABRIDGE who was well beaten last time over this minimum trip at Lingfield but had to race wide throughout and should improve in this small field back at Kempton where he has a better record. [6th 33/1] :(

18:10 - 1m 2f Handicap -- Better field for this from a betting point of view and while the likes of Archie's Advice and Golden Jubilee are consistent we side with THE GAY CAVALIER[WON 25/1] Get in there you beauty.

18:40 - 2m Handicap -- Thundering Home has been excelling over hurdles this winter and top weight in this company may not stop him, will be shortish price so we want something competitive and go with LEYLAND who was placed here over 2 miles for this jockey and might be able to place again. [9th 20/1]

19:10 - 6f Handicap -- Top weight YEEOOW should appreciate the drop in class here on the AW having been campaigned last year at all the top Grade 1 tracks in UK as well as travelling over to race at the Curragh a few times in decent events placed at Newmarket and Doncaster certainly looks worth a go at good price in this contest. [4th 11/1]

19:40 - 1m Handicap -- Just the 6 lining up for this mile qualifier, the Godolphin FESTIVE FARE looks a sure odds on fav for this, so GLEAMING GIRL is our tentative selection for a race that is probably best watched.  [5th 11/1] Fav won as expected.

20:10 - 1m Handicap -- The finale is an apprentice race and is hardly a handicap event where only 5lb separates the 13 declared runners.

Often hard to know what will run up to it's true form and certain amount is taken on trust here so a chance taken on CLAUDE GREENWOOD with a respectable jockey on board (Hector Crouch) who won here last week. [6th 11/1]

Another brilliant Wednesday evening with a great 25/1 winner the highlight and that takes our rolling profit onto +61.72 to a 1pt level stake at SP.

(Betfair returns are over +100 points profit)

Look forward to another meeting next Wednesday under the lights. Have a good week in the meantime.

ST VALENTINES DAY AT ASCOT RACES SATURDAY 14th FEBRUARY 2015

Ok so it's not as romantic as flowers and chocolates but who needs all that romance nonsense anyway, why not get the train to Ascot and sample Berkshire hospitality in the full knowledge that it's FREE !

https://www.ascot.co.uk/celebrate-50-years-jumps-racing-ascot-free-valentines-day

Yeah come on down...you might even get lucky (and find a winner). The 7 race card begins at 1.30pm with a novice hurdle event, I'd like to see if TEA FOR TWO [Nick Williams] makes the final declaration and as Nicky Henderson has 5 horses in at the moment it's possible he'll keep SPECIAL AGENT in mind as his owner also happens to own the racecourse (but as I write this he's just finished 2nd at Chepstow (Wed)).

A quick link to the card is here;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/ascot/14-02-2015/fast-cards

Our Selections will appear here on Friday for Saturdays event.

1:30 -- 2m 3f 110yds Novices Hurdle -- Well as mentioned earlier TEA FOR TWO does appear here, only 4 declared which is bizzare given the early entries. Henderson keeps one in but it's FOREVER FIELD which is a bit unfancied in the market. [2nd 4/9F] Too short for me.

2:05 -- 3m Novices Chase -- AINSI FIDELES. [WON 6/1]

2:40 -- 3m Listed Handicap Chase -- CLONDAW KNIGHT [2nd 10/3]

3:15 -- 2m 3f 110yds Handicap Hurdle -- DIAMOND KING [Pulled up 6/1]

3:50 -- 2m 5f 110yds Ascot Chase -- PTIT ZIG [FELL 6/4F]

4:20 -- 2m Novices Hurdle -- VINNIE RED [5th 25/1]

4:50 -- 2m Open NH Flat Race -- JOE FARRELL [7th 5/2F]

An even-steven sort of day, good start with the Pipe horses winning comfortably, didn't back the odds on fav in the opener and it lost anyway, will look to resume winning ways on Wednesday at Kempton.

Have a great weekend all.

KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY 11th FEBRUARY 2015

We should be back to a regular Wednesday night meeting again after a temporary afternoon move last week.

This week the powers that be have dreamed up an exciting card consisting of no less than 8 handicap races. No maidens, no claimers, no classified stakes just handicaps all the way starting at 5.15pm.

A link to the race card can be found here;
http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/11-02-2015/fast-cards

Our recent results has been remarkable lately and we arrive here with a healthy profit of +49.72 to our 1pt level stake. So lets see how we can improve on that this week;

17:15 - 1m 2f Apprentice Handicap -- Lightly raced 4yo having first outing this season with 7lb claimer on board JAYEFF HERRING is a tentative selection in the opener at decent double figure price[7th 12/1]

17:45 - 5f Handicap
 -- Has a win/place record to be respected at this level on the AW [in the frame 20 out of 33 events], though might be better at Southwell they've come here tonight for a reason with BAPAK BANGSAWAN popped in at 25/1 two races back. [5th 12/1]

18:15 - 1m 2f Handicap -- If we can excuse last effort when tailed off at the end behind Mubtadi, there is a chance that DANDY can rekindle his form here having had a month off to get over that effort. [7th 25/1]

18:45 - 7f Handicap -- A win and three places all at this venue for CAPTAIN STARLIGHT is not one to put a lot of trust in however can go close if in the right mood here. [12th 33/1] Clearly not in the right mood...

19:15 - 1m Handicap [Div 1] -- Easy choice this one we'll stick with JACKPOT who gave us a nice win the other week, though only just hung on the hope is that having tasted a win will remember that and go again. [8th 20/1]

19:45 - 1m Handicap [Div 2] -- BOND ARTIST Was an AW Wolves regular before they relaid the track, had a break before running 3 weeks back and may be able to pick up his 2014 form now. [9th 14/1]

20:15 - 6f Handicap -- Not going to be a superstar from the Richard Hannon yard but TAKAHIRO has had three efforts in maidens and must have a chance in a handicap off a low mark (else is unlikely to stay with the Hannon yard for long). [6th 16/1]

20:45 - 6f Handicap -- 10 times a winner RISE TO GLORY is a likeable 33/1 shot today, could be a going day over 6f, wouldn't really be the biggest surprise to see the 7yo go well. [6th 33/1]

No joy tonight, as such we lose 8pts off our profit leaving us on a figure of +41.72 to carry over to the next meeting. Can't win every week at these prices...

WOLVERHAMPTON SATURDAY EVENING FIXTURE - 7th FEBRUARY 2015

WOLVES MAKE A RETURN TO ACTION ON A SATURDAY NIGHT THIS WEEKEND, AND IT'S AN 80s MUSIC NIGHT TOO WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DURAN DURAN TRIBUTE BAND PROVIDING THE "ENTERTAINMENT" AFTER RACING.

MORE INFORMATION FROM THE RACECOURSE CAN BE FOUND AT THEIR WEBSITE HERE.

http://www.wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk/horse-racing/

AND AS ALWAYS THE RACECARD IS AVAILABLE FROM THIS LINK ON THE SPORTING LIFE SITE.

http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/wolverhampton/07-02-2015/fast-cards

OUR FOCUS ON THESE MEETINGS IS THE VALUE TO BE HAD IN THE HANDICAP EVENTS, THE LIKES OF MAIDENS AND CLAIMERS HAVE NO INTEREST FOR US IT'S THE OPEN NATURE OF A HANDICAP THAT CAN OFTEN BE EXPLOITED AND THIS MEETING SERVES US UP NO FEWER THAN 6 SUCH EVENTS STARTING AT 17:45 THE FINAL EVENT HAS BEEN SPLIT INTO TWO DIVISIONS SO THE MEETING CLOSES WITH THE 21:15 CONTEST.

17:45 -- 1m 141yds Handicap (Amateurs)
RAINFORD GLORY, has been campaigned over further with various trainers so a drop back to this trip might help, recent 4th in a claimer over CD and forecast 16/1 looks tempting.
[13th 25/1]

18:15 -- 1m 141yds Handicap

PARTY ROYAL has a good few runs here, gets the trip and while might not win is a good shout for the place market. Forecast to go off about 20/1.
[7th 16/1]

18:45 -- 7f 32yds Handicap

SUPERSTA, a winner at Windsor last year hasn't been seen since a couple of outings at Goodwood. This 4yo hasn't actually run on the AW before now which is unusual so the chance is taken on this 25/1 shot to take to the surface first time up. [5th 13/2]

20:15 -- 1m 4f 50yds Handicap

WAR POET [NAP] is interesting in this 8 runner affair, first of all lets hope that they all stand their ground for the place market to be an option.

Has raced here once before finishing 2nd off a mark of 80 and will be significantly lower rated tonight with the jockey's claim also taken into account. Has a decent win/place record for an 8yo and keeps his form well, I will be surprised if not up there at the end. [7th 16/1] -- very poor effort, surprised indeed.

20:45 -- 1m 1f 103yds Handicap (Div 1)

YORKSTERS PRINCE is the selection in the first division of the 9f handicap, usually ridden by claimers it's now got Robert Winston to help him home, 12/1 price in a 10 runner field I think he'll be in the top 5 at least so we'll hope for a place result at the very least. [4th 12/1]

21:15 -- 1m 1f 103yds Handicap (Div 2)

STREAM OF LIGHT is the outsider of the party in division two of the handicap finale, had a few novice hurdle outings at the back end of last year but will be much more suited to the trip and surface here. Only a 4yo against older horses, it's a big ask but 25/1 and upwards is worth a go. [9th 33/1]

The evenings results will appear later, have a wonderful weekend all. Not a great night by any means

KEMPTON PARK RACES WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON 4th FEBRUARY 2015

The regular Wednesday night meeting has been brought forward to begin at 14:05, owing to the loss of the NH cards to snow and frost. We come into this meeting on the back of some excellent results which means we have a healthy profit of +55.72 to our 1pt level stake.

What was an evening card now becomes a 7 race card with 6 handicaps for us to get stuck into, a link to the race cards can be found below and the last race will be under the lights at 17:15;

http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/meeting/kempton-park/04-02-2015/fast-cards

14:05 - 5f Handicap -- Back to the min trip could see the 25/1 outsider SWEET PICCOLO go well given his last try at the 5f trip saw him finish runner up. Sire is a good sprinter and already given up plenty of AW winners here. [5th 20/1]

14:35 - 1m 2f Handicap -- A very tight handicap next with only 5lb separating the field, should be a big bunch finish but I'll take RUNAIOCHT and MONSIEUR CHABAL against the field. [2nd 6/1 & 4th 7/1]

15:10 - 5f Handicap [3yo only] -- Another sprint handicap now with just the 7 declared, hard to split them but will side with MULTI QUEST who gets a healthy weight concession from nearly all of these. [6th 16/1]

16:15 - 1m 4f Handicap [3yo only] -- Dangerous to ignore any Prescott horse at this level so NAVAL ACTION needs a close watch, but I favour the odds of GALILEANO instead now handicapping and the Marco Botti yard in decent order. [3rd 8/1]

16:45 - 1m Handicap -- NEW YEARS NIGHT gave his maiden opponents an 8L beating and though different game in a handicap is probably worth keeping onside. Of the rest EMBANKMENT is one I would have a look for in the place market, has gone well here in the past. [2nd 16/1]

17:15 - 7f Handicap [3yo only] -- The finale is another restricted to the 3yo brigade, only the seven with Sir Lancelott already a non runner, it's GALAGO we look for to win again. [Non Runner]

Just a couple of places today, so down 6 points taking our profit back a little to +49.72. Never mind, Embankment was only beaten a short head so we're still getting close, and you can't win every week else this would be too easy.
