PONTEFRACT SEASON 2014

[SUNDAY 17th AUGUST]

This is our twelfth meeting of the season from Pontefract, and pleased to report that our simple system is still showing an overall profit of +11.25 points to a 1 point level unit stake at SP. 

Now we are heading towards the latter part of the season and I think you will agree it's been entertaining with some good results here and there, certainly should be looking to finish with a flourish and give us more excitement for the next season. 

Today's feature event is the Fillies listed sprint over 6f which takes place at 3.45. 

A 7 race card which begins at 2.15;

2.15 -- LADY ATLAS [5th 40/1], CHARLES MESSIER [6th 7/1]

2.45 -- ARAMIST [WON 7/1], ASTEROIDEA [2nd 9/2]
Forecast - £35.67

3.15 -- PRECISION STRIKE [2nd 3/1], JAWAAB [6th 5/1]

3.45 -- MU'AJIZA [3rd 33/1], VALONIA [WON 10/3]

4.20 -- IMSHIVALLA [WON 5/2], CASTLE COMBE [6th 15/2]

4.50 -- FLAWLASS PINK [2nd 9/4], TASMANIAN [4th 4/1]

5.20 -- SOLAR SPIRIT [8th 8/1], DISCLOSURE [10th 13/2]

A great start to Sunday even though the first race went away from us the 40/1 shot running well into 5th, but race two couldn't have gone better, ARAMIST winning at 7/1 (from 10s) and the 2nd place [Asteroidea] too giving us a nice forecast as well. 

Went close in the 3rd race but a wonderful result in the big listed contest at 3.45 finding the winner VALONIA at 10/3 and getting a place result with Mu'ajiza at 33/1 (took 50/1) and oh so close for another big forecast. It's looking at being a good day and we already looking like it's a profitable one, one more winner will guarantee that ... which we didn't have to wait long for as Imshivala took the 4.20 contest for us. 

Couldn't find another win in the final couple of races but still won on the day with a profit of +1.83 for the day to give us an overall profit of +13.08 points for a 1 point stake at SP.

And they're off ... 

The Eleventh meeting of the season from Pontefract, and we are still showing a profit albeit just +6 points down from a season high of +31 earlier in the year. It's still giving us a good run for our money and we go into the latter part of the season in good heart for another successful season at the West Yorkshire track. 

Entries for Wednesday's meeting are now available and appear as follows;

5.10 -- LE LAITIER [WON 12/1], ALPINE FLOWER [6th 8/1]

A cracking winner in the finale means we make a profit once again on the day of +5.25 and increase our running total to +11.25 to 1 point unit stake at SP. 

Good to get back to winning ways and onwards into the latter part of the season we go with the next meeting on Sunday 17th August.

2014 GALWAY FESTIVAL [JULY 28th -- AUG 3rd] -- DAY SEVEN

So after a busy week of Goodwood and Galway festivals we reach the climax of the Irish meeting for 2014, and though its not been a successful one for us thus far there is always the final day to get out of trouble ... well we're not exactly destitute but it's not been the profitable meeting that it has been over recent years. [-12.4 points at start of Sat races to a 1pt level stake to SP]

Here we go then for Sunday, selections are below and lets try and finish on a winner.

The results from Sunday are above and we lose approx 15 points overall so that's the end of our week at the Galway Festival for 2014. Yes that was a very forgettable festival for us, I hope you faired better.

Going into the weekend looking for some help, down -12.4 points to a level stake at SP and need something to pop up and take the heat off a bit. 

Throughout the week we have been seeing winners and near misses but sadly the winners are always favourites and he hasn't had a decent price handicap winner so far which makes me fear that perhaps this IS the year that breaks the recent trend of success.
