HORSERACING'S 2013 TURF FLAT SEASON STARTS HERE

SATURDAY FLAT ACTION FROM DONCASTER
NAP - THE FUN CRUSHER [4.55]

So we have a bumper 8 race card for the Lincoln meeting this Saturday, 128 runners declared lets try and find ourselves a winner.

UPDATE -- Saturdays card has been called off. Hopefully the Lincoln can be moved to next weekend.

1.30 -- Opening contest is a 10f maiden for 3yo's and of the 11 runners only a few have significant form from their 2yo days to speak of.

Generally stepping up in trip it's very hard to know how they might have grown and improved until we see some in the parade ring. One to look at closely should be Pat Eddery's INCORPORATE who has had a couple of runs this year on the AW and should be fit to take this.

2.05 -- Next up it's a 22 runner 6f sprint, and the first chance today to get your magic pin out! Horses drawn low usually do well even though last years winner was drawn 15 we'll stick with the low side and take two against the field and see.

FARLOW / KING OF JAZZ

2.40 -- Another 22 runners this time over a mile. Can't be sure how the 4yo's have come on again against the older horses but with ground unknown too this is very much a pin and guess race for the time being. My pair verses the field would be LEVITATE with OCEAN TEMPEST

3.15 -- A listed event over 6f looks more appealing now and ETON RIFLES heads them having enjoyed a good campaign at the end of last year with a couple of wins [beat Jack Dexter who opposing having won 3 handicaps last term]. Both of them might need this and opposable. OUR JONATHAN started last year with a win, and has a good overall win/place % so looks good for a place at least here which is our preferred bet.

3.50 -- The Lincoln Handicap.
Will update rest of card once weather has been checked and outcome of inspection is known.

4.25 -- Div 1 of this handicap and had the rain not turned the ground into a mud-pit I would be strongly on top weight CHOOKIE ROYALE a winner of 4 from last 7 races including here last August and November. With the ground soft it could pay to side with the longer priced GRAN MAESTRO at 16/1.

4.55 -- Div 2 is no easier despite only 10 runners declared. INDEPUB is probably a good idea rather than a selection but has been winning over hurdles for Donald McCain and should be suited to soft slow ground I expect. THE FUN CRUSHER [NAP] is owned by Mr Timeform (Jim McGrath) and lightly raced has a decent chance dropped in class. In fact the more I look at his close 4th at York on Soft ground in a better race than this the more I want to back it. [NAP]

5.30 -- The finale is an apprentice handicap where the form book can sometimes be made to look silly. Sensible approach is to go with an inform talented apprentice and not many have such a rising sign as young W Twiston-Davies who takes the ride on ZAPLAMATION an experienced campaigner who knows how to win at this trip. It's not a race I'd want to bet in though but the top weight PATRIOTIC looks decent over from Ireland and probably worth a go

GOOD LUCK
DAISY

2013 FLAT SEASON STARTS THIS WEEKEND

The official start to the Horse Racing Flat season gets under-way at Doncaster this weekend with the feature race the running of the Lincoln Handicap over 1 mile.

We'll aim to regularly update this blog during the coming season with weekend selections and featured meetings such as Ascot and Goodwood.

Will not be ignoring our friends in Ireland as this year we look forward to attending a few days at the Galway festival in July. [29th July until 4th August 2013]. Hopefully we can continue the good run of form of Dermot Weld's horses this year having shown a profit for a number of seasons up to now.

After a lot of thought I have decided to cease the regular website updates on Daisyracing.co.uk This site will now redirect to my general interest site for the time being. The racing page on the Bigted site may be restarted but is most probably going to be replaced by this Blog and hopefully more regular updates than has been the case of late.

It's not so much that it takes up a lot of time to update it each week, because it didn't really. It was just something I got a little bored of doing each week and if I am honest have had too many other things on my mind this past year what with losing my father very suddenly and the downturn in my own health that seem to coincide with that.

All being well I will find a new lease of life this year and the 2013 turf flat season seems a good place to begin.

So check back here on Friday evening to see my selections for the Doncaster Meeting on Saturday including the Lincoln Winner (hopefully) and my Saturday NAP selection too.

Until then
Be lucky
